I think we'll spend a few nights at POP after our cruise -- any experience with it? In the past we have only stayed offsite, or at the Wilderness Lodge -- that's not in our budget this time, so we'd like to find a pleasant value resort.

Any suggestions on quiet/preferable rooms?

Thanks.

We stayed at POP a few days before the cruise and we were really happy with it. We never noticed any noise from connecting rooms but we could hear people playing in the pool early in the morning (our room faced the pool) but it wasn't bothersome.

I'd stay there again without question. Very nice for a value resort. :thumbsup2

We stayed in POP a few days before our last cruise in 2005 and thought it was GREAT. We never heard anything comming from other rooms either. Our rooms was on the side facing the lake (oppisite from the pool) so we never heard a peep from pool goers. We also opted to pay a little extra to stay in the 60's building...which is the 'preferred' building because of it's close location to everything. I think it was only $10 more per night....although this next time (were planning on staying at POP again) we'll probably try another building. The one thing I learned about POP (which could be the same with any Disney resort) is you don't have a choice in which building/room you get. You can put in a request...but it's only a request.

One of the reasons we picked POP over the other value resorts was the bus services. Although all the resorts have bus service...POP has it's very own bus. No sharing with other resorts....so no waiting for your bus to arrive from the resort before your....or no stopping at other resorts before you get to the parks.

Sorry Dody ,

But our experience with POP was different then yours ....when we got there at 8pm they didnt even have our room ready , took them an hour to get it ready. And the beds were worse then the service .....We stayed at the POP before the cruise and after we stayed at the All Star Music and it was much better ...service and beds ....But we had to keep in mind that it was a Value resort , next time I am spending the extra 50 bucks to go to the Port Orleans Riverside for a better nights sleep ....

We had stayed at POR a couple of years ago and decided to try one of the All Star resorts this past summer. I was nervous because POR was SO nice. However, the All Star was great! My husband said he didn't think we should spend the money on a more expensive place to stay when the values were priced reasonably and were as nice as ours was. I do want to stay at POR again someday, but our experience with the value resorts was a good one.:goodvibes

Hubby and I love Pop! Our rooms are always clean and tidy, and the service is good, especially at the front counter. The have a nice jogging route around the pond, and have big pools. When I would get up at 5 to go run, I would always see the staff out there scrubbing down the furniture and pool side area. The counter service there is very reasonable and diverse - you can get anything from Mickey waffles, to pizza, chinese, seafood, fresh fruit or sandwiches, and it won't cost a ton of money - usually around $10US or less. They have a big drink station so you are rarely waiting for a refill. If you are there more than 6 or 7 days, or if you and your family drink a lot of pop/juice/coffee, then I'd suggest you buy the refillable mug (which you keep when you leave). The bus service is excellent during busy seasons, but slows down during off season - about every 15-20 minutes wait - which is still pretty good for a free ride. Anyway, you can try and request a room closest to the main building (where the food/gift shop/bus service is), but chances are excellent that they will only be able to accomodate your request the day of. For us, the value you get staying at a value resort like Pop far exceeds the money savings at staying off-site; I hope that you find that to be true when you go! Have fun! :cheer2:

My dd and I spent a few days at POP at the beginning of August and were pleased with the room/dining/everything else. They were painting lots of rooms while we were there. Lots of new paint and general maintenance in progress at the time. I'd stay there again!

We stayed there in July of 04 and loved it. We were in the first section by the Hippy-Dippy Pool. Only heard some noise at night because of the young ones swimming late, say around 10:30 -11:00. The service was great and since we really just sleep and bathe at the hotel, I'd rather have that extra hotel money for something else, although I did LOVE AKL!!!! and if money is no object!!!!!

Yeah, the Wilderness Lodge was heavenly. But that was back when our kids were younger, and we would return to the hotel mid-afternoon for a swim and go to sleep relatively early (my DH and I would take turns going down to the hot tubs while the kids slept). This trip we need the hotel just for sleeping and putting our stuff, so I think POP sounds good.

Although I suppose for similar prices we could stay offsite and maybe get breakfast included, although you lose a bit of the magic...

POP is a great value resort IMHO :goodvibes It definitely is full of action :cool1: So if you are looking for a relaxing spot you probably won't find it ;) However if you are looking just for a place to sleep and have a swim its great. The bus is wonderful too :thumbsup2

This is a picture from outside of our room - there are no balconies - 60s preferred 4th floor

we have stayed thwre 3 times over the years..we got put in the rubics cube building and its a 10 minit walk for coffee if you get that one...then we got the 50 building the one time and it was next to the food court..but it is a noisie resort its 4 stories high so the wait for the elevator is a long time in the morning as the maids have 1 in each buliding for them to use..the ffod court is always oacked there nare sio many people there..but thats my feelings ...it is a must see resort just try it out for your self and see...
