We got back from our stay at the Poly last week. We had stayed before in Tokelau. I love the Poly. I love the size of the rooms, the great room service, the ease of transportation and being able to look across the lagoon at the MK! We were checking in after a 4 day Wonder cruise. My 79 yo Mom was travelling with us so the Poly really fits our needs. We wanted a renovated room so I requested Fiji, 3rd floor, marina view. We arrived at the Poly around 10:30 am and my kids were so glad to get off the DCL bus (we were the last stop). There was no line at check in, our CM seemed a little new at the process and a one point she called over a manager. Shortly afterward the manager told us she would be able to accomdate all of our requests and they were just checking the room because it was showing both pending and complete (cleaning). We were excited to possibly get into our room right away as my mother really needed a break. She asked me to wait and I told her I would sit down and check back shortly. After about 15 minutes I told the family to go to Kona and I would be up shortly. I waited an additional 10 minutes and then got up to ask - the CM seemed to have forgotten about me and told me the room had not been checked yet. I told her we were going to Kona and I would check back. When we checked back after lunch she told us the room was ready. We were thrilled. We walked over to Fiji room #3315. It was just perfect.....but it wasn't cleaned! I called the front desk and they sent housekeeping right over. My mom and DH stayed on the balcony while I took the kids to play on the beach. Mousekeeping worked hard to quickly clean the room. Later the manager of housekeeping came up to personally apologize. I told him we didn't care....we were just happy to be here! He told me again it shouldn't have happened and he was sorry.
Love the renovated rooms. My mom loved the chair and ottoman. She tells me it was very comfortable - and I guess it was because she didn't let any of us sit there!! DH loved the flat screen. I loved the view and balcony. The kids love everything. The new rooms are really suitable for a long time stay. Very comfortable and very home like!
Because of the weather our stay was extended after we checked out 2/12. Don't even get me started with Spirit Airlines who told me our flight was cancelled and Atlantic City airport was closed - then informed me later that our 7:30pm flight flew!!! This is a family board so I won't tell you what I think of them. We booked Southwest after we were told Spirit couldn't get us home until Wednesday night. The bottom line....we were at the Poly for 2 more nights. (It would have been great if only it wasn't freezing in WDW for those couple days - I am talking cold!)
The Poly was kind enough to give us a discounted rate for our rooms. Our fiji room was gone. We ended up with Nuie. The CM did state that these rooms were smoking optional. I asked her if they stunk and she said she thought so. But I knew it was close so we tried it. The first room we got was first floor pool side - the first room closed to GCH. Unfortunately, someone must have just checked out who was a big smoker. I smoked for years before I quit (whoohoo!) and smoke usaully doesn't bother me. But this time it did. I went back to the front desk and they moved me to the Nuie room closest to Samoa 1sr floor / pool side. While there was a slight smell of smoke in here it was doable. The room was cleaned well and we had the best towel animals of any visit to WDW.
Just wanted to add that I think 1st floor Nuie is a great location. I would request it everytime if it was non smoking. The kids played on the lawn. I enjoyed the patio - and it was just soo close to everything. The Poly still rocks!
