I am SO torn right now as to what to book for a girl's group trip in spring. We are booked for 3 nights at the Poly, but we're thinking 3 nights with LO's (4 kids, 9 mo, and 6 adults-a few first timers in there) really won't be enough, and lead to meltdown central. I booked the Poly so that these first timers can really get the disney magic/castle/monorail.

I have 2 options according to my budget:
4 nights at the Poly without PH-just regular 5 day tix
4 nights at BWI with PH tix (comes out to same price as Poly without PH)

As far as resorts go, those are pretty much the top 2 we'd want.

Option #3 (???)

I know you said top two resorts. But for the most Disney feel - why don't your price the garden wing at Contemporary? Would probably be cheaper then both resorts and you will have the best of both worlds. (monorail resort, walk to MK AND Park Hoppers). Good Luck whichever you choose :)

I voted Poly w/o PH. I just don't think PH's are necessary. Until our kids are older and we stay at an EP resort and want to eat every night in the WS at EP, I think we can see everything without one w/a good plan. I'd rather spend the money elsewhere. With the number of kids, I'd vote Poly for the monorail for sure. And, I think PP's suggestion is good, if you really want MK monorail resort and PH, go for CR!

I would go for whichever resort you much prefer to stay at. For me, the resort always takes precedence over the tickets.

It sounds like you prefer the Poly for the MK view/monorail, so I would just keep that. If, however, you are equally attracted to the BWI, I would definitely make the switch so that you can also take advantage of the PHs!

Have fun!

I agree with the pp to choose the resort you prefer. If it meant choosing a resort I really wanted vs an option on tickets, I would take the resort every time. If the Poly and BWI are both resorts you like equally, I would then choose the one closer to the park you will be going to the most. Personally, though, I would pick the Poly. You can't beat being on the monorail with little ones and the beach is great for watching the fireworks with a short walk back to your room without fighting crowds out of MK. Plus with little ones, Captain Cooks is great for quick meals or snacks, whereas the BWI doesn't have that kind of CS option.

After insane deliberation I went with extra day at the Poly-base tickets for all, no park hopper.
As far as resorts go, BWI looks gorgeous, I personally like the rooms and brightness of the resort better (from what I see in photos). But I think the MK views and monorail won out. I hope I'm right.
I wrote out a 'what if' itinerary for both scenarios and I think we'll actually get more down time without the PH's. In the PH itinerary I wrote out-we'd probably only get to use it once, twice max. Its hard to justify hundreds of $ to use it once or twice.
I think it will force us to enjoy the hotel a bit more since that's why we're paying for it in the first place.
In the end, it worked out to be a bit more than our original balance of course, figuring in another park ticket day, another DP day, and the extra insurance for that day, but we all agreed it was better to put that money towards another day together.
Thanks for all the thoughts!
