I'm looking mostly for personal experiences here. When you have a split stay (a few nights in one hotel and a few in another), how do you get from one to the other where they're both on-property? I'm not a huge fan of cars/Ubers and wondered if people have used the resort buses in the past, and if so whether the drivers were jerks about it. I've taken my suitcase on the DTD bus a couple times when my plans required it, and once no one cared but once the driver chewed us out for it. Do you think it would be fine as long as we weren't going at high-travel time (i.e. right as parks open, or late night at DTD)?

You are definitely not allowed to take your luggage on a Disney bus. I'm actually really surprised you were allowed to do it before. That's a huge no-no.

You should give your luggage to bell services. They will transfer your luggage for you. Then you can take disney transportation to get to your new resort. I would definitely not transfer at DTD.

I would drop my luggage off in the morning, head to the park for the day, and then go to the new resort and check in after I'm done at the park.

You will NOT be able to take luggage on any Disney bus in order to move to a new resort. As PP stated you can give the luggage to the bell services at the resort you are checking out of and they will transfer it to your new Disney resort. Or you can use a cab to take you to the resort you will be checking into. By taking a cab your luggage will travel with you to the new resort.

I can't imagine luggage to be more problematic on a bus than a giant double stroller.

When we recently went, we stayed at Pop, and after our family vacation, the kid and I went home while DH stayed at Boardwalk for a work conference for a few extra days. On the day he moved from POP to Boardwalk, He simply grabbed his suitcase and we all rode the bus from Pop to Hollywood Studios, then we walked over and took the boat from Hollywood Studios to Boardwalk. It was no big deal, nobody said a word about it.

I do think that you could drop your bag at Bell services at one hotel and they will transport it to the other, but I'm not positive of how that works.

last time I gave my luggage and switching info to bell services at ASMU, then rode a bus to Hollywood studios and walked over to Dolphin to check in.....my bags arrived a few hours later- super easy and as cheap as a tip to bell services!

We split our stays among wdw resorts almost every trip. We just bring our bags to bell services at check out of the first resort and they transfer them to the new resort. We then head off to a park, waterpark, dtd whatever our activities are for the day and then check in to the new resort late afternoon. Our bags have always been at the new resort by the time we check in which is generally around 4-5pm.

If you need to bring your bags with you to check in you could use a cab but in that case if your room isn't ready you will have to store them with bell services anyway.

When did you do this? The Swan/Dolphin resort thread said there's no luggage transfer available.

We're moving from BLT over to Swan in the fall. I'm planning to just call a cab. Store my stuff at BLT while we go to MK. After we're done, call a cab and have all our luggage with us to head over to Swan.

You may be able to get by with a small carry-on luggage, but I can't imagine the bus driver letting someone on with a regular full sized suit case.

I have done luggage transfer from the Dolphin to BLT, from the Dolphin to SSR and from POFQ to the Dolphin, most recent was November.

Strollers are allowed on buses. Luggage is not. If luggage was allowed, you would see a lot more of it.....and it would clog the buses. You would have to drag your bags onto one bus, ride to a park, then transfer, with your bags, to the bus to your new resort. Disney transportation is not set up for that.....it's to move people and the stuff they need for their day in the park.
I usually hand my bags off to Bell Services/Luggage Assistance first thing in the morning. I then head to a park for the morning. I head to the new resort later on, and get checked in. My bags usually show up after 6.

If you want to be sure to have access to your bags, then just take a cab, with your bags, to the new resort. Yes, you will have to pay cab fare, and tip the bell people. But you'll have your bags.

I went to the concierge desk at Pop and asked them what the options were and they told me bell services, cab, or take it on the bus. So that's what we did. We didn't know that we weren't 'supposed to' or that luggage was 'not allowed' on the bus, because we were TOLD that we could do it that way. Had the bus driver said we couldn't, we wouldn't have. It was one medium size rolling duffel bag and a laptop bag, accompanied by two adults and a child on a slowish week, so it wasn't like we were crowding a packed bus with numerous items. The bags my husband had were smaller size wise than a single stroller. Had it been crowded, we would likely not have taken this option.

I have no doubt you were told you could do this....and that's the biggest issue Disney has. Their left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing. I have seen, on several occasions, guests denied boarding with bags that were obviously luggage. Your's was probably small enough not to catch the driver's attention. I can't imagine anyone being allowed to hop on the bus with a pullman bag!!!

Resort CMs are notorious for handing out bad bus info. I have had a CM tell me that the buses start running an hour prior to park opening. When I asked how I was expected to get to MK for an 8:00 ADR at CP, I was told I would have to take a cab!!! This was a year ago...and I obviously know the correct answer. I just like to check every so often as to what the resort CMs are telling people. This CM had no idea buses were running at 6:30!!

Yes- Dolphin has luggage switching capabilities, did it in January.....
