Skipping the morning and afternoon that I spent at Universal/IoA for the
moment, this short picture thread is of the late afternoon and evening after I
came back to WDW. Ever since I stayed at Dixie Landings (I have a hard
time calling it Port Orleans, Riverside) I always try to stop by during a WDW
trip to have a meal, take in the lazy ambience and just relax a bit. It is
like a circle of life for me. After
a long day at Universal, I thought today would be the day. I stopped at
the food court (Riverside Mill...I like the old name, was Colonel's Cotton Mill
Foodcourt), one of the best at WDW, IMO, for my evening dinner. After a
enjoying a relaxing meal on the porch overlooking the Sassagoula River, I took a
bit of time to just walk the grounds and take it in, and captured a few sights
with the camera.

A number of guests disembark from the Sassagoula River Boat while many
wait to board for the relaxing cruise to Downtown Disney. One of the
Magnolia Bend Mansions in the background. I like Alligator Bayou myself.

but fun to watch.

DxL is one of the few places at WDW you can find a manual flush
restroom. Just thought I would point that out.

Now, just a few of the restful, lazy scenes from the resort......

The lobby of DxL takes one back to the 'old South' and a steamboat dock
for various destinations along the river. Really gives you a relaxing,
nice feeling to just sit and soak it in.

One of the several ship models, the Sassagoula, beautiful they are.

And now back at the Swan for an earlier evening to relax. Here I
capture a mirrored image of the Swan's front portico, reflected in a bright
metal sign in the lobby.

And, as always, the Swan fountain lets me know I am home again.

resort, the Dolphin, here silhouetted with the evening sunset.

And, looking a bit more to the right, I can see Epcot and Spaceship Earth,
starting to glow in the evening's creeping darkness.

And now, with the sun fully set, Illuminations: Reflections of Earth
rumbles to life. Boardwalk Inn and Luna Park in the foreground. (don't worry, only a few pictures here, LOL)

It was great to see a new perspective of Illuminations.

And that's it, folks, time for bed for me (at WDW that is). Hope you
enjoyed this quiet evening, as did I.

These are great, Dan! I especially love the Illuminations ones....:D

Beautiful dan...I agree, i have always enjoyed Dixie Landings and it will always be Dixie landings to me.

Great pictures, Dan! I can't get enough pictures of POR since we're staying there for the first time in May! :)

And great pictures of Illuminations...Ryan and I really enjoyed watching Illuminations from our room at the Dolphin...really is great.

Thank you so much for these Dan. I have never seen DxL before and it truly looks like a beauitful resort to stay at :)

Those Illuminations pictures were breathtaking! Especially the ones of the Eiffel Tower backlit by the fireworks... absolutely beautiful!

dan, those pictures were FANTASTIC, thanks for sharing them, I felt like I was really there again. :D

Thanks Dan :) When I see your picture threads they make me feel as if I'm not too far from Disney World after all :)

Wonderful Pictures Dan! I love the shots from your room at the Swan, also DXL :) What floor where you on at the swan? That view is incredible!:)

Great pictures, Dan! Thank you! :) I, too, love the look of Dixie Landings, & can't get used to the *new* name, either!

DxL...my favorite resort. Thanks for posting, Dan. :)

Great pictures Dan...makes me miss my second home....I love that view from the Swan one of my faves!!!

Thanks Dan- you're right- it will always be Dixie Landings to me too:)

I'm the same way Dan! I love eating at Dixie Landings and walking the grounds, it has such a great old south feel. And IMHO the best food court on property. ;) :)

Glad to see I was not the only to take a picture of the toilet. When you were at DXL I was in the building right next to yours. Sorry I didn't look you up.

I feel as though I have just been on vacation when I look at your pictures. Beautiful grounds. I hope to stay there one day(we were going to last year until they closed it).
Thanks for the pictures.

Thanks so much, Dan! I always enjoy seeing pictures of DxL - my home away from home. It's also nice to see pictures of the Swan, as I'll be staying there for the 1st time in December!

Great pics Dan. Well... I'm not so sure about the toilet handle one ;) :p ... but the rest were beautiful! :teeth: Amazing pics of Illuminations from your balony! Wow!!!!
