In 2015 we seriously considered buying a home just like this one outside Asheville, NC with Great Smoky NP in the background. But it was several miles from groceries etc. on twisty roads and the 2024 Asheville flooding would have left us stranded up in the mountains. But I still think about that house and those views!

I'm jealous! DGD is a "local" now too but she's home here in Texas for the summer! She'll be there in August to see it for the first time! DH and I will have to wait until January but excited to see it!

To all my fellow Disney fans from states on this list, Texas officially THANKS YOU for sending help with the rescue and cleanup of the area effected by the July 4th floods. Last report still had 161 missing but over the weekend the Kerrville officials gave an update reducing the official "missing" as only 3, including only 1 little girl who was a Camp Mystic camper. All other tourist and locals have been accounted for. As Gov. Abbott states, "Texas will rebuild" but we'll always remember this tragic day. THANK YOU.

A little nostalgic this evening! DGD and high school soccer buddy "pop through the back door" for a nice visit. She lives and works in San Antonio now but made a quick trip home for a "family meeting"; they had to tell her little sister about Virginia. They'd been in Georgia visiting family when the flood happened and then went down for their annual trip to Disney World just returning home yesterday. Hard to explain to a 9 year old her classmate has died. Update on missing; found another yesterday so count is now down to two. Was good to "talk over happy times" though...and what a memory when the door burst open and they're asking for food for their 10 o'clock snack! They've played soccer together since they were 7 & 8 years old!

FINALLY "put a bow" on DGD's birthday gift. Only a year late but with 280 pages in 3 books with around 5,500 photos it was a true "Labor of Love". High school senior year was a memorable one!
