phone in shorts front pocket. any issues?

I always carry my phone in my front right pocket. It's safer there to me than anywhere else (back pocket, backpack, etc). Never had any issues.

I usually leave my phone in my backpack. On our last trip I put it in my right front pocket on BTMR. Midway through the ride I felt a sharp pain in my hip. My phone was coming out of my pocket...; The phone will be in the backpack from now on. DH always wears cargo shorts so he doesn't have that problem.

I usually carry my phone in my back pocket and I put it in the pouch when I ride a roller coaster. Sometimes I'll carry a small Vera Bradley Disney All-In-One Crossbody bag. That holds my phone plus credit cards and a small tube of sun block. I am very fair skinned and burn easily.

I lost my phone halfway through Thunder Mountain. Somehow I noticed it by my feet during the ride. I quickly but my foot on it and held it there until the ride ended.

Sadly, one of the greatest physical feats of my life.

Cargo shorts! They just don't make them for women - so I had to buy a men's - but if women look long enough - there are some out there that will fit females.

Women are just out luck - clothing designers think we don't like pockets - which is just ridiculous. Pockets are awesome.

I do have to admit though, my 3 pairs of cargo shorts - all for Disney travel - I would be out of space for the extra masks if I was travelling there right now. I'd have to resort to my fanny pack or string cinch backpack.

that stinks, did the button come off the pocket? i never wear cargos but the idea of the locking pocket is why i'm considering them. phone in that pocket on every ride would be my plan.

She says it was in a closed pocket, but we're talking about a teenage girl with her very first cellphone, and it was just a few days old at the time. Luckily, a CM found it and turned it in to lost and found at guest services and we got it right back. She also left her favorite baseball cap on Soarin' (can't remember if she got that back?) That was her theme for the trip - what was she going to forget next? (Very out of character for her)

Lululemon and Lilly Pulitzer make skorts with pockets that hold my phone and lip balm with sunscreen. DH wears cargo shorts. We hate carrying bags. Occasionally I bring a small cross body.

as an aside, something ive wondered since the advent of larger phones. how do you sit down and they dont crack in half? cannot imagine buttoning my rear pocket with a phone in there. or just sitting on it normally. or are peoples butts not as round as i think lol.

Agree. I have cargo shorts that I only wear at theme parks. Lock down the buttons and everything is secure. :)
Same here. Mine have two front pockets and two leg button pockets. The leg pockets are big enough for the phone in one and my wallet in the other. Spare masks in a ziploc go in one front pocket and individually packaged hand wipes in the other. I usually don’t have to reapply sunscreen in the parks. My phone is in a battery case with a matte finish that doesn’t slide easily.

I had a pair of shorts with a cargo pocket pre-kids and it was so glorious to not have to carry a bag. Now I have a backpack and a stroller to keep stuff in. I used to carry my phone in my front pocket, but it was an older qwerty keyboard style phone (I just upgraded to a smartphone less than a year and a half ago). I doubt I would feel a smartphone is secure in my front pocket, and I have lost a phone out of my back pocket in a restroom before, so I try to avoid the back pocket carry. I end up using a wristlet when I am not with the kids.

I don't understand the phone companies' insistence on bigger and bigger, thinner and thinner phones. I agree, those big thin phones feel like they would bend in half in a back pocket!

Do they not think that people want phones to put in pockets? If I wanted something the size of a tablet, I would buy a tablet! So I have a cheaper phone, because pocket-size smartphones are either well under $100 or $500+ with no middle ground. I'd pay more for a mid-level phone, but alas that doesn't seem to be an option.

I personally wouldn't take that chance. I don't like to carry a back pack etc either but I did use a small crossbody purse on my last trip. Just large enough to carry my wallet & phone. Going next month and doing the same. Plus now with needing masks I will want to carry a couple of extra ones.

regarding packs etc, where do you keep them when on the 'more wild' rides?..or even the tame ones i guess. silly question but i'm all about the details. i guess im over thinking things cause there are no cages you need to put down over you like on the upside down coasters. but since i dont know the rides at disney i'm asking. and probably over thinking

My backpack goes with me on the floor & I step thru one of the straps so it's around my leg (like Space Mountain, Everest, RnR) for all the roller coasters or faster rides. The slower easier rides it sits on the bench next to me (like Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Toy Story, etc...). The only time it leaves my sight/side is for Soarin' (you put it on the ground if it won't fit in the cargo net under your seat) & FOP (they have cubbies behind you to store items although it's in the same room as the ride).

the majority of Disney rides have a large space at your feet where you can store a backpack! it's super handy

Yeah, I carry it in my front pocket (and don't go for the larger phones).

Depends on how deep the pockets are. I have some shorts that this would work with, and others that I would not trust.

ETA - Cargo shorts are my go to at WDW, though I have a few pair of shorts with a single zipper pocket on one leg that is great.
I have a few pair of "roller coaster" shorts, as I call them. At least one zippered pocket, and button or zipper for wallet pocket. Bonus, the ones I have are quick-drying if needed.

DH always carries his phone in his front pocket - sometimes he wears jeans, sometimes he wears khaki style shorts (not carg), sometimes he wears basketball style shorts. He's never had an issue. If he ever felt uncomfortable about the shorts or the ride, he would use the pouch in front him to put the phone in where it was available (i.e. Everest).

I’m not exactly sure what happened, but I watched a party of getting out of Aladdins Flying Carpets yesterday and a phone fell out as the people were climbing out. It bounced off the concrete and right into the water under the ride. Oops. I could see that getting out of that ride would be the perfect angle for a phone in a front pocket to fall out.
