Patriots Fans~ It's time to...

The Pats are the second team to go 18-1. The other team was the Bears and they have the 18-1 record and the ring. How many people remember that they were 18-1?

That Bears team is widely considered one of (if not the) best teams ever in the history of the NFL, much better than even the '72 Dolphins. The difference is when that one loss comes. The Patriots can now claim that they are the best ever runner-up in NFL history. ;)

Me.:lovestruc

And we beat the Pats 46 to 10 that year. Memories......

Yes but you are a Bears fan. I forgot. My Bears friend called me today to congratulate me and reminded me about that.

My point is that all that will be remember is the Pats did not live up to the their destiny.

Those Bears were awesome!!!

It is the tone of comments like these that I was referring to. People have attacked many for comments about the 19-0, etc. and how we are a bunch of arrogant fans (generalizing here, not saying everyone says it or all fans are arrogant), and then the turn around and make comments that are in the same nature of the ones they are accusing us of. The grass is no greener, it is always nicer to be on the winning side, but why is it that people have to resort to mudslinging. When I have posted on previous games that we won/lost, I have commended the other team on how they played. Giants outplayed New England, plain & simple. I personally don't like either of the Mannings, I see them as arrogant as some see Brady - to each their own opinion. However they are both amazing athletes (I do recognize that) and that is why they have achieved what they have. Bottom line, players and fans both talk alot of smack about the other team to cause a reaction, get the others riled up.

Serving up crow, I don't think so. But maybe some humble pie when a defeat like that brings you back down to earth.

Still don't get why you're quoting me so much. You seem to take issue with Bill being criticized for his actions last night; I'm just trying to point out that even the Boston media is attacking him. Not making this stuff up.

I think I'm done here. Too many hurt feelings and people are taking this way too seriously and getting very worked up and overly-defensive, IMO.

Congrats to the Patriots. They are a great team.
I'm extremely proud of my Giants, though. Yesterday, they were the better team and truly were the ones who deserved to win.

I'll be back for baseball season when the Yankees start beating up on the Red Sox (hopefully)!

Play nice.:flower3:

This reminds me of the time I guarenteed Stone Cold would beat The Rock at Wrestlemania and he lost. It was heartbreaking.

I have nothing against New England fans. Actually I think pretty highly of them. Bill on the other hand is rude to anyone that interviews him. Why can people say things about the way Barry Bonds treats the media, but not Bellichick. To be honest I think he has been ruder than Bonds when the question wasn't what he wanted to be asked. I mean he has flat out called people stupid.
Why should he get away with the crap he pulls, inacurate Injury reports, cheating, never answering the press when he is in part sopkesperson for the team.
Even the way he left the Jets was really screwed up, I don't like him. Just my own oppinion.

I don't know... It was not fun, but it's not like the '86 Sox (thanks again, NY) ;-)

Or even Aaron Boone in 2003.

I've gone through all the emotions today, and I'm at the point now where I'm in awe of a couple of the Giants' big plays - specifically the one where Eli broke loose and completed that crazy pass at the end of the game.

Pats fan or not, you have to appreciate how awesome that was.

Anyway, if we had to lose, I'm just glad it was to the Giants: Tough, hard working and smash-mouth all the way. Nice work, Giants.

I agree. Nothing will ever compare to the Sox in '86.:sad2: I'm a Pats fan, but I don't feel bad for them. I felt bad for the Sox.

Please PM me the next time you are guaranteeing something, then I will bet on the other team.

That was a joke. I NEVER used the word guarentee. The only time there is ever a guarentee is when I bet on black at the casino. I guarentee it'll come up red.

OK. This is one of the funniest columns ever. From today's ESPN.COM

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Ok well I must say that as a die hard Packer fan, those were the feelings I had a couple weeks ago! But the Giants played a great game.

And I do believe that the Pats will be remembered for having a great season as well.

*I'm kind of scared to see what some of you are like when your children are in championship games!

I would just like to add that it's not only GIANTS FANS rejoicing over the victory last night. Look back over these posts, Pats fans. There are fans from teams all around the league who are getting in some shots about the Patriots' loss. So please don't "generalize" all as "Giants" fans.:flower3:

I totally agree. Most of the posts are from people outside the NY area (I'm in Illinois!!) The rest of the country is tired of hearing how "Wonderful" the Patriots are and how they are unstoppable. Guess they were proved wrong last night!

I think the 2007 Patriots can make an excellent argument for being the 43rd greatest team in the history of football. :rotfl2: I used to say my Panther were the best runner-up after their performance against the Pats a few years ago. I now defer to this year's Pats. :worship: 43rd greatest team ever.

I was rooting for the Giants. I am so glad they won!
I am not a huge NFL fan, but that game last night was fantastic.

I follow college football and have been missing watching it.

BTW, kind of know how the Pats feel. I root for Ohio State.

1 big loss to LSU...yeah...and the year before, 1 big loss to FSU.

Yeah...been kind of bad around here, but we still love Jim Tressel and our Buckeyes. Those kids have a lot of heart.

Congrats to all you die hard Giants fans, it was a great game.

Lisa

I figured I'll correct you before the Gator fans descend. ;) Last year, OSU lost to Florida, not Florida St. :) I know we Ohioans get picky when folks start saying "Ohio" instead of "Ohio St.". :)

okay....i haven't read this entire thread, but i have 4 things i really need to express:

1. what is considered to be a "poor winner" response by some giants fans is actually just a reaction to the majority of the over-confident, arrogant attitude of most pats fans out there. doesn't make it right, but that's what it is. and i'm not saying that ALL pats fans are that way, but A LOT of them are. i really appreciate those of you who have posted to this thread congratulating the giants. it shows class and sportsmanship and i wish there were more people in the world like you. the sad fact is, you are the minority.

2. the best part of the giants winning (besides, of course, that they deserved the win because they played their bums off!!!) is watching all those sportscasters having to eat crow!!!! NONE of them gave the giants a chance in heck. and i couldn't believe how biased the pre-game was. they were already doing specials on "the perfect season." it was sickening. and i'm sure the pats probably didn't appreciate it considering the fact that they hadn't actually achieved that yet....makes them look so stupid!

3. as far as bellichick's leaving the field with 1 second to go, yes, he did go shake hands with couglin, and yes, they did add 1 second back to the clock. and i've read that several of you think that maybe he didn't know the 1 second had been added back. but c'mon. it's bill bellichick. he's a supposed football genuis. you actually think that if he didn't notice (and i'm pretty sure there's NO way he didn't notice), that someone didn't TELL him, "hey, coach, the games not over yet"??????? it's more like HE DIDN'T CARE.

4. someone posted that the entire giants defensive line should have gotten MVP and i couldn't agree more. what they did last night was amazing. and i love my boy eli (my dog is named after him!), but the defensive line is the reason they won that game! although i do have to comment that the play where eli avoided multiple sacks and then someone (tyree, i think?) caught the ball ON HIS HEAD was just unbelievable.....gives me goose bumps! :goodvibes

dodie - i meant to quote you. i LOVED your picture of the mannings! we're from tennessee originally and we've been huge manning fans ever since peyton played at UT. thanks for posting it!

Brady is many things

you got that right. :rotfl2:

I understand Giselle made Tom's breakfast this morning...
