Pathetic TV question.

Hey guys, we are leaving for the World in about a week...just when all our favorite shows are starting and I hate to miss them! While I have a couple of vcr's at home, one of them isn't very trustworthy. So, my question is, at BWV's do they still have vcrs in the room or have they switches to dvds? And, can I record programs on the vcrs while we are at the parks? Are they actual VCRs or are they VCPS? (just the players) Thanks for any info!

When we were last at BWV, the units had VCPs not VCRs, with no DVDs. Our boys had their own portable DVD player that they jacked in to the front of the TV.

This may have changed as I believe some resorts have gone through an upgrade to DVD from VCP over the last year. You may want to check the member website, or call the front desk of the BWV.

I am pretty sure they all have DVD players in them now I know OKW was being finnished off last Dec when we were there.

Yes, I think all DVC resorts have DVD players now. I wouldn't worry too much about TV when you are in WDW! I guess that's easy for me to say, though, since I hardly watch TV anyway.

A previous thread states that there are DVD players in the 1 BR living room, and either a VCP or nothing in the studio side.

LOL! I agree, actually! That's why I want to record them. My friend going with us said we may actually be back in the room in the evening in time to watch them. Sacrilege! She just doesn't know! She's never been to WDW. But for me, while in Disney, we do nothing BUT Disney. I have no desire to watch ANYTHING other than the old disney cartoons (for my dd2) while in the room.

Thanks for the information.

CVW...looks like we're from the same town! Don't think there are too many of us way out here!

love your pictures!!!

you realize that Disney does not carry most of the cable shows - no Discovery - so no TLC, Travel, AC, etc....

so unless you are planning on taping Disney shows - I won't even bother.

BWV has combination DVD/VCR's, they put them in last fall. I used the VCR to record a Survivor episode last December and Ryan & Trista's wedding.

I think they do carry the local FOX channel, check the guide card in the room. It's on a higher number, like in the 20's.

Great! That is what I want to tape...Survivor. And The Apprentice...and The Amazing Race....and possibly The Bachelor. See a theme here? Reality TV sure has me! LOL. Thanks Debbie.

Thanks SpiceyCat for the picture comment. I just love that picture. DD's expression is so sweet.

I would set your VCR at home for as many as you can. When I was addicted to Days of Our Lives, That is what I did. :teeth:

Oh...I'm currently addicted to All My Children....I just know I'm going to miss the climax to this plotline they've had going on ALL SUMMER. I'm not even going to try to record it. :sad1: I really AM pathetic. lol.

Yeah, I'm from Tulsa. Are you really going to Disney next week? You're going to miss the Tulsa Area Iris Society Annual Rhizome & Plant Sale. Where are your priorities, woman?

No Comedy Central, right? How am I supposed to go to sleep without Jon Stewart?

If you need sleep, try watching "Treasure Planet" or "Home on the Range": two truly soporific movies. As effective as Valium with none of the side effects.

WDW carries Soapnet, which re-broadcasts all the ABC soaps from each day that same night. Twice in fact. We were seldom in the room before 10:00. but my mother would tell me she caught General Hospital at like 3:00 am--she's such a die-hard.

Tivo....Tivo....Tivo. You'll wonder how you ever got along without it!!!

I would love to have that. I'm just too cheap to pay for the service! Too bad you just can't buy a machine and have a one time cost, rather than a monthly service. Oh well.
