Pancakes or Waffles

Ive always been curious about this. Are pancakes or waffles an every day thing, a once a week thing or a treat for birthdays, holidays, celebrations, vacation thing when staying at a hotel.

In Ireland we have the full Irish breakfast, sausages, bacon eggs, black and white pudding etc. Tourists think we have it all the time but I cant remember the last time I had a cooked breakfast at home, for me its only when I stay at a hotel in Ireland or UK.

We might have pancakes once a week. Waffles - maybe once a month. (We add blueberries in the batter/on top of pancake after pouring. We slice up strawberries on waffles.......whatever we have/when we have it.

Cereal or oatmeal (add fresh fruit) mostly and eggs/omelette here and there. We will have some sort of egg dish for lunch sometimes.

Pancakes, but don’t eat them often. We have them a few times during the summer when we are camping up north, sometimes with fresh picked blackberries from our property. Not a waffle person at all, but DH likes them and almost always makes himself one at a hotel that has breakfast included.

On the weekends we usually will make pancakes and bacon for a big breakfast which ends up being around 10:30 or 11am if we have the time to relax. We will then just have an early dinner and only eat two meals those days and have a small snack. During the week we don't typically eat a prepared breakfast at all, mostly just grab a protein bar to eat when we start to get hungry.

I suppose it depends on my mood at the time, but I would tend to lean towards a waffle before a pancake, although I really haven't had either much lately.

We only have pancakes or French toast (my preference) about once every 3-4 months.
Not a breakfast staple here.....but if the grand kids are here, they always have Mickey waffles (but we don't eat them)

So you have pancakes once a year I assume, on Pancake Day. I guess that is next week.

We have Pancakes or Waffles once a week on Sundays.
Full Irish maybe once a month - its a lot harder to get the stuff here and the shipping is the main expense so we have to order in quantity.

I really miss having a good butcher who was proud of their award winning sausages.

Thanks for the reminder, yes pancakes once a year. In Ireland we usually just have 2 ways, either butter and sugar or butter and lemon juice. Also they are more like crepes than American buttermilk pancakes.

my only waffle maker now is a small one that makes individual ones in the shape of a 🦃 turkey.
I have two waffle irons that make Mickey shaped waffles! I'm afraid my pancake intake is mostly the frozen variety. They actually aren't bad if you put enough butter and warm syrup on them.

My wife will make pancakes, waffles, coffee cake, muffins every 4 or 5 weeks on Saturday mornings. Otherwise my breakfast rotation is cold cereal, oatmeal, or eggs.
Either pancakes or waffles are fine. But breaking out the Mickey waffle maker my wife got as a retirement gift is a bit more work. Weekend before last my wife made what the recipe called "Irish Pancakes". They looked like very thick pancakes, not sure they are truly Irish though.
