Sorry if this is in the wrong place as I'm not sure where to put it. Looking through old pics I see Pal Mickey and wonder why they got rid of it. Anyone else remember this Mickey that would talk to you and even give you parade times, ect? I highly doubt it would still work in the parks. Speaking off old memories now I am thinking about how we used to ride in the front of the monorail. Sad that is no longer. What do you miss that is no longer at disney?

I think the Pal was the second of the evolutionary steps to the Magic Bands we have now and the long distance RFID functions that are being introduced now. The first was the light up Magical Moment pins from the 100 Years of Magic year, 2001. Then came the Pal in 2003. And now the MB's. The idea of carrying around a stuffed Mickey gets tiring after a day or so, the popularity waned.

I miss Tapestry of Nations and the many various entertainment people that have been eliminated in Epcot.

I never thought of it like that very good observation. You are right about it being a pain to carry around. We would rotate throughout the day who had to carry him. :/

Drug ours out of the closest the other day. He will go with us on our long trip down as our mascot with the corny jokes. That much does still work. I think we carried him one day in the parks when my DD was 4. Novelty wore off fast. Expensive stuffed animal.

My pal sits on a shelf in my office. I haven't really touched him in years, but he spent 30 some days in the parks with us over the years until I finally got tired of his repetition.

I never thought of it like that....
Smart and profitable Disney. They get their guests to test out the logistics and practicality of such a remote activated system, and get the guests to pay top dollar to do Disney's testing.

we took pal mickey in 2010 and he still worked told about parade times and told us things on different rides like haunted mansion he said he was scared i wish they would make a small version of him like a stuffed animal clip.
