Do the hotels ever over booked in case people cancel? And if they do what do they do when everyone shows up.

I have booked a deluxe room at the hard rock hotel, it's already paid for, what are the chances I wouldn't get this room when I get there, i.e. due to overbooking. :sad2:

only once in the five trips i have made in the last four years did hrh overbook. i checked in at 10:30 in the morning and was told hrh had overbooked on that friday during hhn.

after i got over my mad spell, i was quite happy.

i was offered to be transported by hrh staff to portofino bay hotel, have my luggage taken care of by staff, given a deluxe room at pbh at no cost and the 1 night charge for hrh was refunded to my cc as i stood there.

the next day, staff moved my luggage to a deluxe at hrh.

the special offer was for only the friday night. i spent the next three nights as originally planned by at the hrh.

i had used the entertainmnent book and paid the $126. +tax for the 4 day stay. ended up with only a 3 night stay at hrh with it upgraded and enjoyed pbh on the house.

pray for a screw up and overbooking !!!!!!!!!!!!!
stay free.............

The last time we were there, I checked in with the guard house and they said we were not on the list :confused3 he let us go to the hotel and when I tried to check in, they said we were not in the computer. I had my FULLY paid confirmation paper in hand as well as the Loews card and instead of getting our poolview room, we got club level.

They overbook their rooms all the time. HRH is the most notorious for this. I checked in one morning early and they wanted to walk me over to the Peabody because they were overbooked. They will first try and put you in one of the other two hotels and if there is nothing available there they will put you up at the Peabody. Everything is free and you still get use of the HRH facilities and your express pass key cards.

No matter where they move you, the time you spend there will be free of charge.

you can tell them no thanks and will not move.

i have seen that happen being behind someone in the check in counter at hrh.

I refused to move as well. The free night was tempting but having to go back and forth from the Peabody wasn't.

It seems to only happen at the HRH.
Think about it, the HRH is the party hotel. Where do you think rock/movie stars stay when they come into town with no notice? The HRH. It's not like they book a regular room a few months in advance. No No, they just drive up in their limo, get out, expect and get a suite, plus regular rooms for their crew.
No one has even confirmed my little example up above, but I'm sure it happens.
My reservation at the HRH was also cancelled, but I saw it a couple months before my trip because the deposit was refunded on my credit card. I had to complain a few times, and write to the Orlando Sentinel before the reservation was put back.

We were at RPR from July 22-24 this year and they were overbooked. I didn't think they handled it very well. I had booked two queens well in advance and when we checked in they said all they had available was a king and a roll-out (the roll-out took up most of the room). I wish I had read some of these posts before we went because I would rather switch hotels (even if I had to pay the difference!) than be cramped into a room with WAY too much furniture.

Most people on the boards mention that they don't spend too much time in their rooms, but I love to order room service for breakfast each day. It sort of kicks the day off on the right note to have a nice big breakfast before I shower and start moving around. There was no room to eat this time! :earseek: We still had a great time at the parks, but I wasn't happy with the room at all.

wdwendy, you should have complained and insisted on moving you to one of the other hotels.
when they do that, they generally do not charge for the first night.

i speak from experience on that one.

Thanks for the tip, after a four hour flight I wasn't thinking well on my feet.
