Our un-magical Day

I have been to Florida 9 times, actually. And yes, I have had McD there: the worst we had was at the one which used to be at DTD. Lukewarm and chewy!! Try telling anyone what a great taste experience that is!

Give me BK fries anytime ...

Again, as I said in a pp, to each their own - can't comment on the taste/experience of the ones you have eaten - but I do enjoy the ones I've gotten. Any place has bad days, and if I get them lukewarm, I ask for fresh ones - no problems. If you've had them nine times in FL and none of them have been good, just makes me wonder why you tried so many times. :confused3

Enjoy your BK ones, my dh likes them too!

Frosty!!! Well there's a frozen treat. Now all you fry dunkin Dunkers , What flavor frosty do we dunk our fries in? Loll

I've been to WDW 9 times - I certainly haven't been to McD 9 times!! As you say: if you don't like something, don't go there again. My mantra exactly.

Sadly we don't have Wendys anymore - they pulled out of the UK over 10 years ago.

I actually prefer the fatter chips to thin fries - they are fluffier inside (when cooked properly of course). Have you had the Yorkshire Fish & Chips from the UK pavilion at Epcot? Or the chips at Raglan Road? That is the nearest I've found.

We used to love the KFC fries (they're all franchises over here), but we had KFC yesterday - and they've moved over to the thin fries.

Basically, I don't mind anyone's fries - as long as the oil is hot enough in the first place and as long as they cook them long enough. McD's problem is that they don't let them brown before removing them from the fryer - hence chewy and unpleasant.

I must say when i went to Disney world for the first time i did as much research as possible, found out everything i could and answered all of my questions months before i left. i also booked just about every meal for every day about a month before i left. searched reviews on every restaurant i wanted to eat at before booking. I was even able to find out about the dessert buffet/firework display at the MK which was super cool. this was only 2 years ago and i was coming from California and i had never traveled anywhere without my parents planning it so i had no experience.

Point is i had no problems at all during my stay. it was smooth sailings lol. however i did stay at the resort so of course i was shuttled everywhere which was nice.

Maybe next time do some online research before going someplace you haven't been in a while. it helps out a lot! ;)

I think it's :lmao: hilarious that this thread has devolved into a discussion of french fry preferences.

Toffeewoofy, it sounds like your unpleasant experience with McD's fries is a combination of a preference for thicker fries and a bad batch of McD's fries. I love McD's fries. When they are fresh, I think they are the best fast food fries around. But if you get an order that has past its prime, then they are disappointing.

Since you mention the KFC fries, my DD really likes their potato wedges. I hardly ever go to KFC. I always feel icky after eating all that grease so I really haven't had any of their fries.

I have a strong dislike for Wendy's new fries. They are way too salty. I know I could request them with no salt (I have a friend who does that everytime), but then there's a long wait while they fix a fresh batch.

im not a fish eater but I have swiped a chip off my dw plate at Yorkshire. there good. I tend to lean towards the fatter French fry.

rose and crown was the first time I had Yorkshire pudding. I have seen mr. Humphries make it for years but never had it.

YES!!!! i have to agree with you..........to salty!!! i order them with no salt. i get the eye roll but maybe if they wouldn't dump a pound a salt on them i could handle it. good point.:thumbsup2 ( :lmao: )

I must respectfully disagree with you all... for fries there is no one better than In N Out!! Nothing like watching them skin the potato in front of you! And strwberry shakes for dunking them ;)

Set your calendars for ten years from now, a username with Katie will appear and the cycle can begin again!

Everyone posting on here sounds as though they are the entitled ones not the OP. Look if a family goes to a place specifically billed as "The Happiest Place On Earth" why should she not totally expect that kind of experience for her and her family. A travel agent should know whether she's at DisneyWorld or Disney Land .

Yes the food is very sub-par, the customer service is quite lacking from what it was in the past, the entire experience has become very corporate and financially motivated. Then the response that that I read that claimed "hunting down the characters" is part of the magic. Really?!?! WDW food is sub-par? But Denny's is good?

When children invest so much into their favorite characters why should they be expected to do the work to find them. I agree with the OP, 10 years ago you could walk into any restaurant without having to make reservations with the exception of the character meals and the characters were walking all over the park. I can even remember the characters greeting me while waiting in line for rides or other attractions. After they completed a show they would come and greet guests that had just watched it. Children, no. Their parents, absotootinglutey

The idea that a person should do research and plan ahead of time is ridiculous! You are paying for both the service and experience it is not the guests job to make their own experience they are specifically paying Disney to do that for them. That's like saying you should cut your own hair at a barber shop and then pay them for it. How well did that work for Brittney Spears? Any guest can certainly hire their own VIP tour guide to pave the way. Expecting a business to kowtow to a single is asinine and immature. And self-entitled

Now getting on her case for typos, misprints or wrong names (MGM vs Hollywood Studios) c'mon guys grow up. She sounds very upset. I don't see anything wrong with the fact that she wanted to voice her concerns and issues after having a bad experience. Again, if you pay for a product you expect to get that product otherwise you will want to return it to the store. Should I then call all of you entitled because you've returned something to Target. Oh wait, that's right I already called all of you entitled. She sounds very full of herself and spoiled. She expects the wholeworld to fall at her feet. Not going to happen. Sometimes you have to make your own magic. Oh, and presenting an attitude while conversing with the human being Cast Members doesn't #ompel them to go out of their way to assist. .

Lets not forget that it was Disney World that had already set the expectation on the high level of service and the magical experience that everyone should have while visiting their parks so I don't think that she or her family is being unreasonable. Additionally, I feel that the quotes from Walt Disney do indeed apply, do you not think that he had the same expectations for DW as he had for DW?When everyone expects (or worse, gets) magical experiences, the magic disappears. Yes, I do think Walt Disney had the same expectations for Disney World that he had for Disney World (please don't try to claim that mistake as a typo. The letters aren't even close on a keyboard.

To those of you that have questioned her intelligence, maturity and her dedication to her family to have a wonderful time you should be ashamed of yourselves. Maybe you should take a class in bullying because that is exactly how you all are coming off.

Shame on you!

Ah, yes, the inappropriate claim f bullying when one's complaints aren't greeted with 100% sympathy.

When I've ever had McD's recently the fries have been fine- hot and crispy. I actually feel the food quality has improved recently.

And I love dunking my McDonalds fries in a chocolate milkshake, mmmmm. Can't do that anymore though.

This thread cracks me up! I love how it's turned into a debate on fries! LOL

Let me start by saying I only read the first 5-6 posts in this thread... Please excuse any ignorance on my part for not reading all the posts.

We traveled to a VERY MAGICAL Magic kingdom on tues march 4th.

On my 20 some lifetime visits I know parking lot to actual park takes time and I plan for that. I also know that we will not be able to see/do everything the park offers in one day, so my kids are prepared to pick a thing or 2 as a must do...anything we can't do in a day gives us a reason to return again on another trip.

We put smiles on and enjoyed the $$ we spent to play in the park... This trip disney magic caught us and we were randomly approached and given an insanely large ice cream desert to enjoy while strolling!!! My husband was thrown by the experience and asked what it was about (giving us ice cream) I simple told him... THAT iS DISNEY MAGIC!!! No reason, just makes them not your typical theme park.
