Cabin stay in Sedona.
Bwahahaha sorry tvguy. I made myself laugh...Anything you post tv guy..
We're also DVC and recently returned from a beach town vacation. It was fun and relaxing. I'm not really feeling WDW to be fun or relaxing any more. We definitely are planning to return there and visit other places too like Nashville TN, Charleston SC. We do have a cruise planned at the end of the year but no WDW plans in near future. When we return to WDW it will be less park time and more resort time. I've never been to Universal so that's on the list too.We own DVC, but due to current overcrowding and other <<reasons>>, we’ll be spending our next 5 day vacation at a beach town, meeting lots of other family members. Would have been at least 9, maximum 15 people, spending $ at WDW… We’ll now get together elsewhere… with a lazy river.
(I looked at IL, but the dates don’t mesh well with us right now. We’ll be back to WDW for a higher point resort-only stay, maybe hit up UO next time we’re in town.)
Longer term planning brings us to Europe, assuming no political unrest in countries of choice.
If you’re changing it up for your next vacation, where will you be spending your would have been WDW dollars?
As much as I really despise the current model of the parks they will be getting at least some of our money over the next few years. My son is 5 and loves Disney so for a little while we will likely do at last some Disney most years. What we do though is spend much less time in the parks and do other things on property or around Florida. We have 2 family trips planned to central FL and I was down there solo for marathon weekend. To give you an idea about what I mean by less Disney park time over the three trips we'll spend 14 days total in the hotel and only 4.5 days total in parks. That .5 is the Epcot party we will attend for Wine & Dine race weekend while grandma and our son stay at the offsite hotel.
We do try to do 2 or 3 other trips to non-Disney locations and this year we have a Thomas the Tank Engine event in PA, a Hershey visit, and a few trips to see friends in upstate NY. We go to Hershey about every other year since we have friends and family in that area.
I really liked your whole post except the part at the end where you said you'll be closing your account here. Unfortunately, recently many of us previously lifelong Disney park fans have been alienated by ever-worsening value, including charges to park at hotels where you're staying, the end of free fastpasses, the Genie system making people get up early every day of vacation to pay for what was once included and then usually not even be able to get what they were looking for anyway, skyrocketing costs for declining value, paying more and getting less. I'm with you on all that. I just think that since we have such a nice online community here, maybe some of us can stick around on the forum even if we're not planning Disney trips anymore. I know there are already people on these boards who haven't been to Disney in many years. So I hope you'll consider staying on as part of this online community, even without actually going to Disney.Yellowstone in July- (moving daughter up to Wyoming)…Scotland in September- same daughter completed her Master’s in Scotland- due to COVid- we never could visit- so all 6 of us are going back for a delayed celebration.
After 5 Dis cruises (Pacific- Mediterranean), over 20 trips to DWorld or DLand, a stay at Aulani, our family has vowed never to spend another cent on this franchise. We had a good run- daughter even did the college program- our ages are 22-55- our generations will not support what Disney is backing- Same for my parents, siblings, and their kids. We considered DVC seriously, thankful we didn’t purchase.
There are lots of National parks and if we need a theme park- we’ll visit Universal or Busch…we can use the money saved to buy a beach place and rent it…for us, life without Dis vacations will be brighter than any with them. It’s like saying goodbye to a friend we created in our mind- then the reality popped up and we realized we had made a bad mistake. For us, it’s not a pause- it’s a permanent change. But, the Disboards were a bright light for many years of planning- the people here (majority) were so helpful and encouraging. I’ll be figuring out how to close this account- wish you all the best of journeys ahead- wherever your heart takes you!
No, but the person who started this thread was asking where are you going next if it's not WDW, which is why people were posting about other destinations.Does the Dis in Disboards stand for the people who state they will never go back to Disney, LOL?
I know - it's those that chimed in later that I was talking about in just a silly way. We were at that point for a bit, and I didn't post on the Dis during that time, that's all. No interest at that point, IYKWIM?No, but the person who started this thread was asking where are you going next if it's not WDW, which is why people were posting about other destinations.
We just got back from a 3 night stay in Flagstaff from which we visited the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Antelope Canyon, and Horseshoe Bend. It was a great trip!Cabin stay in Sedona.

We visited your beautiful state last summer and man I want to go back. There are just so many places to travel. If I lived near Mackinac Island, you better believe that it would be an annual visit for sure.No trips to WDW are planned for us in the immediate future, maybe not ever again. We were there 4-nights in January following a cruise and so much has changed, and not at all for the better in our opinion.
Next up for me is a 7-night solo trip next month to my favorite place, Mackinac IslandI will be going there again in October for a 5-night stay. We have a 5-night camping trip in Ludington in June with family, then another 5-night camping trip at one of our favorite state parks. In August we have a 3-night stay in Frankenmuth at an Airbnb for my birthday, then a 3-night stay at a state park lodge in Indiana to celebrate our anniversary.
We haven’t made any plans yet for next winter. We may just wait until March and then go the the Gatlinburg area and Smoky Mountains for a couple of weeks.
