Our Next Vacation Dollars will be spent at…

We were supposed to be in Hilton Head and Savanah this week, but when my dad went into hospice we canceled. Next up is a 16 day trip to California including DL in June. I think a New England trip may happen in Aug. A long weekend to Shenendoah National Park and then some of the Blue Ridge Parkway to Asheville in October. Next year is WDW for marathon weekend, a gulf shore/New Orleans trip, a 3 week 20 state road trip, and something in the fall...not sure what that will be yet.

DS15 is too busy this summer for a family vacation so we're doing some separate trips. DS15 is going on a school trip to DC in early June, my DH and I are going to Morocco in July while our kids are at sleepaway camp and DS11 and DH are going to an all-inclusive beach resort in early August during DS15's marching band camp.

My DH has not said no (that in itself is huge) to a cruise.

We went on an 8 night New Years cruise years ago. It was awful. But I think he is willing to appease me and his 10 year old

UOR for Memorial Day week.
We got 15 month APs last year for only $350. Went for our first time ever last June, just DH and I. Went last month with two of our kids and had a great time. Looking at September as well. Looked at Disney for the same week, and it would be three times the cost and that's if we stayed at an All Star. I have no problem with the All Stars, just pointing out that's the cheapest hotel they have and the cost is still so much higher than Universal. No thank you. If they offer MNSSHP during that week, we will go so we can get a taste of Disney.

We also will be camping for a week in July. That's an extended-family yearly event. Not my thing, but the rest of the family loves it.

I'm from the NYC area. Hope you and your family have a great time in the city and if you need any recommendations or advice, don't hesitate to reach out!
Could you answer this for me? Are vaccine restrictions lifted or lifting sometime soon? I thought I briefly caught a comment somewhere on the internet that it's going away.

My youngest graduates and she's been wanting to go back to NYC after graduation but then this all happened so I won't be taking her. Mom doesn't like to travel her and the girls together without me. I haven't bothered looking into it because as far as I understand, I won't be able to do anything.

Next vacations with be spent in the Bahamas, at Seaside and Europe. No WDW any time soon. We will bank our points and spend our money elsewhere for now.

Waiting to see if this upcoming Easter school vacation break will cause a spike. Airlines say they have record reservations for flights next week. Ships are expected to have higher passenger counts. If we don't have a spike, I might move off the fence. But right now, nursing homes are locking down, so not sure where it will go.
FULL DISCLOSURE: We retired in July, not touching our Social Security until we reach full retirement age which will be in December 2023 for me and April 2024 for my wife. Our retirement plan laid out 15 years ago......long before the pandemic......was to stick close to home until spring 2024 because we are living off savings, nothing coming in until Social Security kicks in. So the pandemic's impact on our travel plans really has been minimal. Seems everyone we know needs a couple of years into retirement to get their yards/lives in order after 40+ years of working, so that is our big activity for now. However, cases edging upward, places requesting you to wear masks again, probably would discourage us from travel for now

A week in key west next month. The trip was moved from harbor island, Bahamas due to all the testing requirements. Not interested in all that.

Then a week in watercolor. Then the 8 night on the fantasy in the fall. Really want to slip in a sailing on the wish too :)

We spent time at Disney last month, so we are still visiting. Just not as much.

As of March 7, the official restriction requiring businesses to check for proof of vaccination has been discontinued. However, that does not mean individual businesses cannot still require proof of vaccination. I don't think you'd have any issues getting into most places though some of the more liberal establishments may still require proof.

I will say as a word of caution though that crime has been significantly on the rise and gun violence has gotten pretty bad in the city. With that said, while I don't plan to be roaming all over the place, I am planning on going into the city this week to play tourist a bit (though I will be avoiding the subways).

I can answer that. The city dropped the vaccine mandate early last month, but businesses are free to continue their own private requirements. So we've been advised to bring both our proofs of vaccination and masks because they will be required in some places, including Broadway shows. We have tickets for Six and got an email to download and set up the NYC covid app for that even though the city mandate is gone.

If you like, I can pop back on after our trip to let you know what the overall balance of required vs not required is at the more touristy places we go. We don't have a set-in-stone agenda, but I'm sure we will do some sightseeing, not just shopping and shows.

You will see a mix of masks/ no masks on the street. In all the stores I frequent regularly, I'd estimate about 70% wear masks. Some businesses ask you to wear a mask. My apartment building, like most, requires everyone to mask in the elevator.

My husband and sons just went to the opening Yankee game where there was no mask requirement as well as no need to show vaccine proof.

We still are doing 3 DVC trips this year, but we are also doing a weekend trip to Montreal for a Kevin Hart comedy show in July.

Anything you post tv guy..

We've already gone to Disney twice this year, 2 weeks in January and one week in March. We had a blast both times just like we always do. The crowds didn't affect us at all. Course it was just my husband and I so we didn't need to do lots of rides like we did when our kids were younger and traveling with us.

We may squeeze in a week long Disney trip next month.

We have a place on a lake, so June, July, and August we don't travel and just stay there.

September we are spending 2 weeks in Arizona and traveling to the 15+ National Park Service sites and popping into Utah to visit Monument Valley.

October we'll be back to Disney for at least 2 1/2 weeks, maybe 3 weeks.

December, we'd love to do a quick trip to Disney for Christmas decorations etc. Just for a week or less.

2023 probably just two trips to Disney and a huge National Park trip as well a return trips to Hershey Park and Cedar Point.

Does the Dis in Disboards stand for the people who state they will never go back to Disney, LOL?

We'll be going back to WDW this summer, but before that, we'll be going to Texas to watch DD#1 get her doctorate. Planning on some long weekends in Vermont, a trip to St. Pete's next February, a road trip to who knows where April 2023, and hopefully a summer trip to Ireland and Norway after that. Hubby owes me the Ireland trip! We'll probably have to come back through Iceland, and he'll want to drag me around the hiking trails there.

We just returned today from a long weekend trip to the Flight 93 Memorial/Pittsburgh. Up next is Disney cruise in July. I love the parks but can't justify the cost right now.
