Our little thread of BIG Resort changes*OLD THREAD link on last pg. to new thread!

Being held hostage today awaiting the washer guy. First it wouldn't drain at all, then later it magically did. Hooray! But, it often decides not to spin and requires "encouragement" in the form of my spinning it a bit with my hand until it catches on. It's a three curse washer at this point.

Time to buy a new one! ::yes:: Hand washing is a lost art that most prefer not to practice ;)

Up after 0800:confused:... Are you sick?

One must wonder, right?! Think it was my new exercise regiment that I participated in last night :upsidedow Had no idea how out of shape I was/am!

Leaving Tuesday instead of Wednesday is a GO! This is how DH managed it: DH said someone asked him about having a meeting next week and he replied, "Can't do it that day, I'll be on leave beginning Tuesday:rotfl:. Better to have made it a declarative statement rather than a question;)

Whatever it takes! :thumbsup2  Time to start packing!!!

I had to read the Jeanette update twice, too and I still don't quite understand. I thought she was taking the girls to the parks or is the laundry bag a clever ruse? I'm confused.

:rotfl: Don't know!!?? I just had this visual of her walking through the parking lot at the CR (or whichever resort) with bags of laundry and children in tow  wishing they could get in the parks. I thought they were going to the parks, also. Can't wait to find out!

Nice! :thumbsup2 An EP resort & MK resort! Perfect!! Two months is sooooo very close. Wish I could say the same :upsidedow

Same here! Busy doing household chores AND DisBoard stuff (important, ya know!! ;))

:thumbsup2 for the CR!!! Did you make a request for room location?

Another :thumbsup2 You're having a very productive day ;)

No requests made, any suggestions???

I have a standard view, so I'm not sure there are alot of options. :confused3

Yippee for booking and snagging the HS at WL! So glad you could use the military discount, but I'm sorry about your DH's furlough and all this uncertainty.

Dropping CL is really hard after you've gotten a taste of it, but having a trip booked with a nice discount is priceless. Is your DH furloughed?

Just curious, was CL even an option with the Military Salute renewal? I thought I read that someone couldn't book CL somewhere on the first day the discount was released and they said it wasn't available with the discount anymore:confused3

ETA: Ginny booked CL so it must still be possible.

Yeah, $201/night on the monorail! :thumbsup2. I'll take it!

DH is furloughed, but able to work military days to cover it through October but that might not be the case next year...we shall see.....:rolleyes2

Hi Rcers, I am back from my weekend of cheating on WDW. We had a great time visiting with my DB and we had lots of laughs. He'll be in town here the rest of this week with us so I am a very happy gal.

As for the short answer on my actual HRH/Leows CL and Universal Studios experiences, let me just say it was just not my cup of tea. I wish I could've just teleported :teleport: to WDW to get me some :tink:MAGICAL PIXIE DUST that was sorely lacking IMO at HRH/Leows CL and Universal Studios. Then I'd be all like this again:

If I ever mention the urge to go to Univ again PLEASE remind me ::yes:: to hoof it over from one of my beloved WDW resorts for a short-dose day trip. :rolleyes1 I regret cancelling that Poly CL ressie more than words can say.

I will get caught up with what is up with you guys and be back soon.

MAGIC Sorry to read your trip was less than Magical

Good Morning!

Late start for me Didn't get out of bed until almost 8!

Jenn....:yay::banana: for the upgrade!!! Always funny how we compare everything to Disney

Wookie...glad to hear it was a quiet weekend You deserve that.

Magic...What in the world??!! No kidding, huh?! You were disappointed in your non-Disney vacation. Sorry to hear that. DH is jonesing to go to Universal!

Grumpy...hope your headache is gone today and you rested well last night!

Kook...any word on your early departure???

Janet...had to read your Pas Update twice Couldn't believe it

Now to do something productive (I think)
Heather

Heather I woke up late today too but that was caused by the Thunder Storm over night that had me awake at 4am

Happy Tuesday RCers,

Jen-Have a great time on your road trip!

Spiritsim-Those sound like nice benefits of CSR. Good choice.

Heather-Your photos are always just beautiful, I really enjoy them.

GG-Hope your headache is better, those are miserable.

Miss-Hope MissM is having lots of fun at Girl Scout Camp.

Janet and Kook-Well, then change is complete! :yay: As usual, availability changes rapidly. I was able to get BWI last night and then add WL this morning. Beginning of F&W is a busy time anyway, so I'm glad it worked out.
We are two nights at Wilderness Lodge in a Honeymoon room, and then 5 at BWI CL. I am really happy and grateful for the offer, it made a big difference in our total cost. Two months and one day till our trip, I am getting very excited!! :dance3:

==================================
I have to get busy today. I spent way too much time on the phone with Disney Reservations yesterday...As usual Disney's IT issues presented an extra layer of challenges. Any chance it will ever be fixed??
In the meantime, laundry and bathrooms to clean await me! Fun, fun fun!:rotfl:

gwynne :thumbsup2 on the reservations!

I booked our August 2014 trip!!! :cool1:

We booked at CR Garden Wing from 8/16/14-8/24/14!!!

It was tough for me to make a reservation though, I have to say...
With the whole furlough thing going on, and not knowing how we'll be affected in 2014 by that, I decided to be conservative and go for only 8 nights and just do the garden wing. I think 8 nights will be better though, because by day 9 this past trip, you might recall that my kids were crying to get home...

So, no CL for me this trip, and I feel ok about that. Even if furlough continues to next year, this is a trip that we would still be able to afford, so I am happy! ::yes::

I also modified my food & wine trip...stuck with POP, and got the whole trip covered under military discount, dropping our total by about $150. pixiedust:

Woohooooo!!!! :hyper:

MM

:yay: for booking CR GW!

KOOK Nothing worse than Washer Troubles :(

Heya ladies! :goodvibes

So glad those military rates came out for you guys. :worship:

I think the Pas-Laundry Story was a clever ruse, no? She told the men-folk she was off to do laundry with the girls... just not exactly where the laundry was going to be done -- which happened to be CR. So a little side trip on over to MK while she was launderizing? Or at least that's my interpretation. :lmao:

Thanks for asking about Miss M! She's off at her second day of GS camp. Hopefully she won't come back with too many skeeter bites today. :faint: They zeroed in on the spots I missed yesterday. Bad, inadequate bug-spraying mommy, that's me. :thumbsup2

I got some flexi-rod curlers for her hair, to try and do some proper spiral-like ringlet thingies. She went to bed looking a tad Medusa-like. Looked very cute this morning when I unwound them.

Yep, I booked CL yesterday. Actually 3 reservations...1 modified, and then two additional. (One for the split, and one for the new code, like MM did.) I mentioned this on the rates thread-Sometimes I think phone CM's see no availability and interpret it as a restriction. Availability changes, and with the military discount, I think it changes frequently. Good for us resort changers, we can always pick up the phone. :rotfl:

=======

And thanks, Kook for your sweet words about the furlough. It's annoying to dh, so we try to go out and enjoy lunch together, or visit someplace new. Thankfully, I'm not writing tuition checks or having to make plus loan repayments anymore. In our case, this is doable. If our kids were still in school or college, it would have been a different story. Still, it's not right. I keep hoping someone who understands how wrong this is will speak up. It's time for a good person in D.C. to lead the way toward compromise.

No requests made, any suggestions???

I have a standard view, so I'm not sure there are alot of options. :confused3

Not really, but I know Kook can give you some suggestions. We booked one of those and she gave us some helpful hints, then a great discount came out and I booked the Tower.

Yeah, $201/night on the monorail! :thumbsup2. I'll take it!

What??!!! You seriously can't beat that!!!:thumbsup2 Good grief! Who cares about the view, then! That's basically mod price.

Heather I woke up late today too but that was caused by the Thunder Storm over night that had me awake at 4am

We've had more rain this summer than we've had in YEARS!!! Not good for the farmers at all.

I got some flexi-rod curlers for her hair, to try and do some proper spiral-like ringlet thingies. She went to bed looking a tad Medusa-like. Looked very cute this morning when I unwound them.

Got to get some of those for Faith! Perhaps today's the day.

Yep, I booked CL yesterday.

:dance3: for CL!!!!

Sorry to hear all that Ginny. Really hope things turn around!

Good thing the DIS doesn't date stamp quoted posts - let's just pretend these are from say, yesterday

I'm eagerly awaiting for DH to call back with word on whether we can leave next Tue. rather than Wed. We'd get to WL the same day, but if he can take Tue. off, then we can take two days down and stop in GA, then only have 4 hours on Wed., which would bring us into WL about 8 hours earlier:hyper:. I'm always scheming and already got him to agree to go down in one day, so I'm really pushing my luck here.

I hope you get to leave on Tuesday. You could get a lot done at WDW in 8 hours.

spiritsim, alysa, wookie - yep together we can do this!

Yes we can!!

Wookie - glad you had a nice weekend! My vote is for the Swan! I guess I missed that you may be at ASMo and not the Swan the night before AKL.

Melissa

Well originally I wanted the Swan, but the DH said no due to the cost and thinking that we wouldn't make it to Orlando by Sunday night (this way before we added a day to the WDW part of the trip. Then the DH decided that we could make it to Orlando and he wanted to stay at the Swan, but they didn't have any availability for Sunday night. Then we looked at getting to Orlando late on Saturday night and spending a night at a Uni hotel. After getting that price, the DH had me price out an extra night at the AKL and that was booked. He had me look at the Swan again for Saturday night and they had availability, but I thought the prices were about $200 (before taxes). I hated spending that much money on a hotel for such a small time, so I started looking at non-Disney hotels before looking at Disney values. I got the DH to agree to a Disney value, but then I got this email from the Swan/Dolphin. It has rooms started at $139 a night with a free room upgrade. I'm just waiting for a call from the DH that he put the money in the bank (he gets paid in cash, and really only put money in the bank when we have to) to book it.

Hi from Albany NY! We spent the day driving....and had our howe's caverns adventure! It was super fun, although I must admit I was a wee bit claustrophobic. But I battled through it and persevered, I was proud of myself

Arrived at Homewood Suites Albany and found out that they had upgraded us to a two bedroom suite! We are not at Disney but got some pixie dust! 1 king bed, 2 queens, 1 pullout, 3 flatscreen TV's, full kitchen...it is awesome! DH keeps saying good work to me, but hey....this wasn't my doing!

Sorry for missing everyone else

Jen

That is awesome that y'all got some pixie dust on your trip!! I hope y'all have a great time!!

Hi Rcers, I am back from my weekend of cheating on WDW. We had a great time visiting with my DB and we had lots of laughs. He'll be in town here the rest of this week with us so I am a very happy gal.

Have a great time with your brother!!

As for the short answer on my actual HRH/Leows CL and Universal Studios experiences, let me just say it was just not my cup of tea. I wish I could've just teleported to WDW to get me some MAGICAL PIXIE DUST that was sorely lacking IMO at HRH/Leows CL and Universal Studios. Then I'd be all like this again:

I'm sorry your Uni trip was less than magical. I would love to go to Uni, but I'm just afraid to. If Uni is anything like our local Six Flags, there will be many rides that the DH will want to ride, but he just won't physically be able to, due to his size. I know there are a lot of rides I won't be able to do, due to me looking like Kermit's twin sister when I get off of them. Then the DH will spend the entire day making me feel bad because I'm not riding something with him, that I know will make me sick, or being mad (and embarrassed) that he tried to ride something and couldn't fit.

Good Morning! :wave2:

Wookie...glad to hear it was a quiet weekend :thumbsup2 You deserve that.

Now to do something productive (I think) ;)
Heather

Thank you, but I have a feeling it's about to hit the fan. My fil's mother is pushing for him to come over Monday so they can go over the will, which I totally don't understand. You would think she would want to keep that from him as long as possible. I can't believe that can't see how upset my fil will be.

I don't think they will ever be fixed and stay fixed.

I booked our August 2014 trip!!! :cool1:

Hopefully, things will get worked out and you won't have to worry about it in 2014. Then again, asking for politicians to work together for a compromise that is good for the country, no matter what their political party, might be about as realistic as WDW and Uni partnering up and offering a WDW/Uni combo ticket that can be used at either resort.

Being held hostage today awaiting the washer guy. First it wouldn't drain at all, then later it magically did. Hooray! But, it often decides not to spin and requires "encouragement" in the form of my spinning it a bit with my hand until it catches on. It's a three curse washer at this point.

It's too bad you aren't close to us, you wouldn't have to wait for an appliance guy all day. I would make sure my DH was there at whatever time you wanted him there.

I think the Pas-Laundry Story was a clever ruse, no? She told the men-folk she was off to do laundry with the girls... just not exactly where the laundry was going to be done -- which happened to be CR. Just another reason she is the Queen.

Thanks for asking about Miss M! She's off at her second day of GS camp. Hopefully she won't come back with too many skeeter bites today. :faint: They zeroed in on the spots I missed yesterday. Bad, inadequate bug-spraying mommy, that's me. :thumbsup2

Hopefully, she doesn't come home with any bites. I hope she has a great time. Is she still doing ballet, and does she still like it as much as the first lesson?

I got some flexi-rod curlers for her hair, to try and do some proper spiral-like ringlet thingies. She went to bed looking a tad Medusa-like. Looked very cute this morning when I unwound them.

I bet it looks super cute!!

Nothing going on here today, but laundry and more laundry. Now if the DH will just call me, so I can book the Swan.

YEAH! Ginny and MM on getting the military discounts :)

Ginny: What is a furlough? It must be an american military thing, as I've never heard of it before.... it doesn't sound very good, so I'm sorry if there is hardship involved! Glad you where able to take advantage of the military discount and get your BWI CL!!! Do they allow CDN military to take part in the military discounts? or reserves?? and do they check your ID at check in??
Wondering if retired military can take advantage of that offer too, or CDN military.

Magic: So sorry to hear your Universal days weren't what you where hoping! I am the opposite, my kiddos love it there, and I do too -- I actually look forward to my Universal days/ and resort experience! It's something new and a nice note to end our holidays on. :)

DH and I enjoyed our night out... it was the longest I've ever been in a bathtub! that tub in the room was big and comfy, so much enjoyed :)
I wish we had a vacation to look forward too -- 2015 seems like it'll take forever to get here 555 Days today!! jeesh, that seems like a lifetime!
I can't wait to get back to my happy place!

Marie

I haven't had much time to read up. Just booked myself, dd18 and her bff17 for a quickie 8/13-16. DD wanted CR, but for 3 nights with passholder at CBR was price of one night. I guess my money lectures finally sinking in because she was thankful I upgraded from pop(original plan).

Our mom and me crasher/AKA Danica has never stayed at Disney and will turn 18 in August so it will be fun. I love traveling with newbies, makes it more exciting:thumbsup2

Mousemommy: I just tried my first CR garden wing and loved it!

Any CBR lovers? I usually prefer CSR but the girls want hammocks! and more of them there:)

I will try to catch up on reading later. I am a pack in advance person. Only 20 days!! Yikes I think this is shortest notice I have done yet:rotfl:

yea finally caught up with you all.

Quote:Wookie this sounds familiar my DH has the same problem. He refuses to go back to cedar point because of it. Well not realy into coasters myself I prefer rides like pirates :rotfl2:

Jen: Wow! Your trip is sounding FABULOUS! Way to go on that Pixie Dust... I guess WDW doesn't own the rights. :thumbsup2

Magic: Sorry about the Universal stay. Was it just the hotel or staff or everything?

Ginny: I love those changes! You've done CL at BWI before, right?

Candace: Wooooooooooooooooot on CR! The "quiet" sold me on booking there... well, until we switched. :rolleyes1 (Kinda miss having that as our upcoming resort. We'll get back there one of these trips.)

Kook: Gremlins. There are Gremlins in your washing machine. Mine's been acting up since yesterday. Just hope it's not this one...

Heather: We got our flexi-rods off Amazon. (They need to pay me commission, I swear.) They've got packs of 6 for around $4 each in differing diameters; I think the brand is named Diane or somesuch. Very soft and lightweight. Is the house all back in order?

Sheila: Still holding strong at the Poly? :hyper:

Wookie: Things still quiet at your house, I hope? Go go Swan Booking! Looking forward to hearing how you like it there. Looooooooove the location.

Marie: Glad you enjoyed your mini-vacation! :goodvibes

Trishadono: Those tricksy passholder rates, they'll get ya! :rotfl:

I'm so excited that I had to come and tell y'all.... we have the Swan booked and our WDW trip is totally paid off. If that wasn't enough reason to be all :dance3::dancer::dance3::banana: I talked to Donnie at the bell services at the Swan and he said they would be more than happy to transfer our luggage to the AKL for us!! WOO HOO!!! As Phil would say, "I'm happy, happy, happy!!"

Now, I'm off to create a new ticker to include the Swan stay.

I may or may not be pricing a quick weekend in September before our AP's expire......

I tried being a good mom and rode those awful bone shaken, neck lashing, stomached curling rides on one trip and that!!!! Was enough:scared1:

Now Harry is my fav and will go back for gringotts rr ride when it opens next summer::yes::

I didn't mind Hard RockHotel but it just isn't disney.

If you want, I can pick the DH brain about yours. I just need to know the year, brand, and exactly what is it or isn't doing. He may be able to narrow it down to a few things with that info.

Wookie: Things still quiet at your house, I hope? Go go Swan Booking! Looking forward to hearing how you like it there. Looooooooove the location.

Yes it has been quiet, and I hope it lasts at least a few more days. I know we'll love it since they have the Heavenly beds, but we won't be there long. We'll hopefully arrive not much later than midnight and will be checking out no later than 11 AM the next morning.

Adding... WOW, I'm SO glad I booked our January flights. Airfare just keeps going up and up. :faint:

I just hope gas prices don't do the same between now and our September trip.

I may or may not be pricing a quick weekend in September before our AP's expire......

I have been saying for months I wasn't going this summer but dd got a job and I haven't seen her:confused3

Leaves for college 8/22 so a little disney magic will help heal my achy heart:love:

Dh is so great and understanding to put with a 2 nd mom n me trip in one year:thumbsup2

A sandwich? Will it be THE Sandwich? popcorn::

We only go to uni for WWOHP:)

I keep telling my hubs that's ALL I want to do when we go to Universal for the first time. :3dglasses

If you want, I can pick the DH brain about yours. I just need to know the year, brand, and exactly what is it or isn't doing. He may be able to narrow it down to a few things with that info.

I just managed two loads this afternoon with no problems. Where's some wood to knock on? *knocks on skull* I will definitely take you up on the offer if it starts acting wonky again.

Okay, so you'll have to let us know if the "Heavenly" bit lives up to its name... being on the Boardwalk, y'all will have a good time -- even for just a night. :goodvibes

I just hope gas prices don't do the same between now and our September trip.

I swore I'd never complain about gas prices after living in Europe (was roughly $8.50-ish a gallon when converting £ to $ and litres to gallons). I will break that promise now... my last 3 fill-ups were at $4.50/pg, $3.95/pg and the last was an el-cheapo fill up in Michigan at $3.79/pg. Hope the Petrol Gods shine favorably on your trip. :worship:

Miss - NO BLT :( not even deluxe! If I can convince DH to go it will be POP or POR. I haven't even mentioned it to him and my concern is the heat. I'll keep you posted.

Poor you Melissa, hugs!

Ok turning off the lights again and back to resting. Remind me to show much more sympathy to you poor ladies that get headaches all the time .... this is not normal for me.
Hope your head is better soon Linda!

s for the short answer on my actual HRH/Leows CL and Universal Studios experiences, let me just say it was just not my cup of tea.
