Our little thread of BIG Resort changes*OLD THREAD link on last pg. to new thread!

Miss - NO BLT :( not even deluxe! If I can convince DH to go it will be POP or POR. I haven't even mentioned it to him and my concern is the heat. I'll keep you posted.

Ah, but you'll be THERE! (And you'll have BLT next year.) Have you guys stayed at POR before? (So far it's the only Mod we'd be willing to return to.) :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Wooooooot! Excellent news all 'round. :woohoo:

Yes it was.

I just managed two loads this afternoon with no problems. Where's some wood to knock on? *knocks on skull* I will definitely take you up on the offer if it starts acting wonky again.

**knocks on skull** Just a little extra luck to keep it in working condition.

Okay, so you'll have to let us know if the "Heavenly" bit lives up to its name... being on the Boardwalk, y'all will have a good time -- even for just a night. :goodvibes

I'm pretty sure they are the same kind of Heavenly beds that have at the Westins. If they are, they do. We stayed at a Westin in San Antonio, TX for our 6th wedding anniversary and we just wanted to lay in bed and watch tv and not move.

I swore I'd never complain about gas prices after living in Europe (was roughly $8.50-ish a gallon when converting £ to $ and litres to gallons). I will break that promise now... my last 3 fill-ups were at $4.50/pg, $3.95/pg and the last was an el-cheapo fill up in Michigan at $3.79/pg. Hope the Petrol Gods shine favorably on your trip. :worship:

And there I thought our gas prices were bad. I only put the cheap stuff in the minivan, although I know I should put the high octane in it. I think the last time I put gas in it was $3.49. I know the last time we drove to WDW, gas prices were cheaper in Orlando than they were at home.

I know I have been neglecting everyone and I will be back after I clean up from dinner, but.....

WE ARE GOING TO WDW Labor Day weekend!!!!! Waiting to hear back from David's cousin to see if they are going to join us. If so, we will most likely staff off property at the Lake Buena Vista Resort Village and share a 4 BR. We have done that in the last and have such a good time. If not I am going to push for POR but it is $50 more a night than POP and I am trying to sell this as a cheapy weekend ;)

Adding... WOW, I'm SO glad I booked our January flights. Airfare just keeps going up and up. :faint:

Now that we have the resort booked, we go on airfare watch.....:bitelip:

I'm so excited that I had to come and tell y'all.... we have the Swan booked and our WDW trip is totally paid off. If that wasn't enough reason to be all :dance3::dancer::dance3::banana: I talked to Donnie at the bell services at the Swan and he said they would be more than happy to transfer our luggage to the AKL for us!! WOO HOO!!! As Phil would say, "I'm happy, happy, happy!!"

Now, I'm off to create a new ticker to include the Swan stay.

:cool1:

:woohoo::banana: yay!!!!!!!

Time to buy a new one! ::yes:: Hand washing is a lost art that most prefer not to practice
Lost art indeed and not so good when the creek runs dry. Yes, yes, I know I'm suppose to buy a new one, so says DH and you, but will they take away 4 if I buy a new set? You see, the house came with a set and I moved in with a set and well, I'd be pleased as punch with a new red pair, but not if it means I then have 6...

KOOK Nothing worse than Washer Troubles
You're so right. It's one of the most under appreciated appliances. You don't realize how good you've got it till there's a problem. The rest of the time, it's just...there. No analogies, please:rolleyes1

Heya ladies! :goodvibes

So glad those military rates came out for you guys. :worship:

I think the Pas-Laundry Story was a clever ruse, no? She told the men-folk she was off to do laundry with the girls... just not exactly where the laundry was going to be done -- which happened to be CR. So a little side trip on over to MK while she was launderizing? Or at least that's my interpretation. :lmao:

Thanks for asking about Miss M! She's off at her second day of GS camp. Hopefully she won't come back with too many skeeter bites today. :faint: They zeroed in on the spots I missed yesterday. Bad, inadequate bug-spraying mommy, that's me. :thumbsup2

I got some flexi-rod curlers for her hair, to try and do some proper spiral-like ringlet thingies. She went to bed looking a tad Medusa-like. Looked very cute this morning when I unwound them.
Fun with hair! She is definitely BBB material.

So the story is legit? I thought Jeanette the Amazing posted that she was only going to WDW with the girls:confused3. Are you saying the boys didn't know or she agreed to do laundry while at the park so that she could go? Either way, this is nuts.

Yep, I booked CL yesterday. Actually 3 reservations...1 modified, and then two additional. (One for the split, and one for the new code, like MM did.) I mentioned this on the rates thread-Sometimes I think phone CM's see no availability and interpret it as a restriction. Availability changes, and with the military discount, I think it changes frequently. Good for us resort changers, we can always pick up the phone. :rotfl:

=======

And thanks, Kook for your sweet words about the furlough. It's annoying to dh, so we try to go out and enjoy lunch together, or visit someplace new. Thankfully, I'm not writing tuition checks or having to make plus loan repayments anymore. In our case, this is doable. If our kids were still in school or college, it would have been a different story. Still, it's not right. I keep hoping someone who understands how wrong this is will speak up. It's time for a good person in D.C. to lead the way toward compromise.
I hate that this is happening to so many and may continue for years to come. But, I'm so happy you have some trips planned. It's great to have WDW to look forward to:goodvibes

I hope you get to leave on Tuesday. You could get a lot done at WDW in 8 hours.

:rotfl2::thumbsup2

We loved your comment - so true! Only a true WDW nut would understand what 8 hours early means to a person:love:

It's too bad you aren't close to us, you wouldn't have to wait for an appliance guy all day. I would make sure my DH was there at whatever time you wanted him there.

I thought of you when it wouldn't drain this morning. I really do need to move back to TX.

Do they allow CDN military to take part in the military discounts? or reserves?? and do they check your ID at check in??
Wondering if retired military can take advantage of that offer too, or CDN military.
No, sorry the WDW military tickets and room rate is only for US active and retired military. But, they do have those FD offers for Canadians, don't they? Or is that only for UK?

Kook: Gremlins. There are Gremlins in your washing machine. Mine's been acting up since yesterday. Just hope it's not this one...

Why don't you buy one or two Gremlins and drive next time? It's so much fun!

September??? Don't you mean next weekend - boot and all?:hyper::hug:

Happy Wednesday!! :wave2:

Kook.....just for you! :thumbsup2 Don't let the distant BLT tempt you at all ;) Happy Packing, my friend! Should be easy since you have 2 washers and 2 dryers :confused3 for a family of 3??? If you need to ditch a set, dump them off at the Pooler exit on your way down - I'll have Bill pick them up.

Miss...LOVE that Gremiln picture! and love that movie  and Kook, your Gremlin pic (cars) cracks me up!! I immediately thought about the AMC Pacer, too  Hideous automobiles, they were! By the way, Miss, got some flexi rods for Faith's hair.

Melissa...how goes the pricing??? ;)

Candace...:sail: still looking for airline prices?? Have you ever driven down?? I imagine it would take a very long time :upsidedow Flying is probably the better option!

Wookie...:yay: for Swan! I keep saying we need to give it a try, especially since they give the teacher discount. Know you are super excited, and you have it paid off - even better!!! :thumbsup2

Last night, we went through dining options at the World - came up with 21 - 7 of which are signature and 1 dinner show. Not sure I'll be able to fit all of those in :scratchin.......unless of course I add a day here and there :rolleyes1

Yeah, good old airfare....:headache:

I would imagine that my dates won't even be released until at least December, so I've got time.

We are not fans of being in the car for long periods of time, so a road trip to Orlando is kind of out of the picture. It would be about 24 hours! :scared1:

Heather - love that pic! BLT has been our "go to" resort when all 4 of us go. I love the boat ride to/from Cr and WL:goodvibes

For us northerner s , driving really not so good. We tried ONCE.

Dh was so annoyed on way down he booked me, dd 9 and ds 7 a flight back and drove home by himself:rotfl2:

Happy Wednesday all:)

Only 19 days and I am frantically trying to read up on CBR:hyper:

Probably should go into to work too! Yesterday I took off a half day to book everything. I do enjoy booking ME myself online. It is soooo easy::yes::

Good morning! Finally catching up again.

trishadono - OMG :rotfl2: too funny about DH booking you a flight back! That is absolutely hysterical!!!

Candace - good luck on the airfare! I am sure you will be able to get a great price and you have plenty of time to watch for it.

Heather - I am jealous of all your signatures! My kids just dont do well with a longer more formal sit down. But they have agreed to CG for our Feb trip, thankfully watching Wishes from the TOP of the CR was an easy sell ;) And it definitely sounds like you need to add a few days here and there :lmao:

KOOK - you absolutely crack me up with the Gremlin ad :rotfl: Did the repair man ever show up yesterday? Trust me I looked at going sooner to WDW (boot and all) but we have the seasonal passes and they don't come live again until Aug 16th and considering the kids start school on the 19th I didn't think that was a good option. But we are going against our better judgement and going to go for Labor Day. I think this will be the perfect little fix to get us through to next Feb ::yes:: So what is the departure time on TUESDAY????

Wookie - :woohoo: for the Swan and PIF!!! And thank you for emailing that to me yesterday, I wanted to price out ALL my options :rolleyes1

Miss - yep, stayed POR, actually stayed at all the mods and DH said he will only stay at POR or POFQ anymore, and he did agree to POR if our cousins don't join us. You need to keep posting pics of Miss M's hair with all your "trials" ::yes:: How was her second day of GS camp? Oh and I cant believe I didn't have Gremlin nightmares last night, I was so afraid of them as a kid :lmao:

Oh, both kids up, Sarah just snuck up on me and scared the ever living "crap" out of me :faint:.....will catch up more in a bit.

:grouphug:

If you're at POR .... since I added those last 2 days on to the beginning of my trip we'll be there too! :) Arrive at MCO about 7:45pm on Saturday, hope ME is quick, CS dinner at POR, then maybe a quick visit with Piano Bob or the pool. We may do some pool time on Sunday also. :beach: Then we move to CSR on Monday.

I am dying over here not knowing if the cousins are joining us....I am not patient when it comes to planning and I feel like my hands are tied right now. I cant even try to book and ADR (or two) until I know if they are coming :headache:

Sure you can .... book them for your family and then cancel if the cousins come but that way you are set if they don't come. :thumbsup2

Lost art indeed and not so good when the creek runs dry.

How'd it go yesterday? Was it fixed? This quote reminds me of when our washer/dryer broke in France; it was one of those all-in-one machines... neither of which do their intended function efficiently. I said the exact same thing about washing them in the creek. The new one they sent over broke after the first week. I went without a washer for 6 weeks. Having to explain to the appliance guys that I didn't want it fixed but wanted a NEW replacement for the week-old bust one was an interesting discussion since the two guys didn't speak English and my French phrases were severely limited. It was the ultimate game of Pictionary amidst mountain-sized piles of dirty clothes. :rotfl:

When we moved to the UK, I told my hubs it was absolutely mandatory for us to have a REAL dryer. My clothes-horse was promptly thrown into the garage never to be used again.

Fun with hair! She is definitely BBB material.

Thank you. :goodvibes

With Blazing SPEED! :moped:

Why don't you buy one or two Gremlins and drive next time? It's so much fun!

And we could probably rig one of them up to wash clothes and the other to dry! Wait, those weren't the ones that exploded when rear-ended, right? Those were Pintos, I believe.

By the way, Miss, got some flexi rods for Faith's hair.

Sweet! Let me know how it goes. I'm still trying to figure them out. (I had a disastrous attempt with a curling iron this morning. Good thing it's "Wacky Wednesday" at camp today. :rolleyes1 )

.....unless of course I add a day here and there.

popcorn:: But of course! Grumpy Grandma gives expert courses on just this very thing... :thumbsup2

We are not fans of being in the car for long periods of time, so a road trip to Orlando is kind of out of the picture. It would be about 24 hours!

I'm with ya. I'd been thinking how nice it would be to drive out to the Grand Canyon with Miss M. Then I think about being stuck in the car for that long. :scared1: It's always a fleeting thought -- here and gone in about 15 seconds.

Dh was so annoyed on way down he booked me, dd 9 and ds 7 a flight back and drove home by himself

:lmao: That is flippin' hilarious.

Hope you're able to book! (Didn't they used to show Gremlins multiple times a day on cable? It seemed like they did anyway. Gremlins and The Goonies, all. day. long. every. day.)

Hard to tell with Miss M, she said she had fun and spent most of the time with one of her friends. Then she mentioned her previous "best friend" told Miss M there wasn't room for her to play with them. She looked a bit dejected when she was telling me this and then said she'd gone off to find her other friend. Seems girls start super-early with the nasty stuff.

How much longer does The Boot have?

I would LOVE to meet up with you!!!!

And we demand pictures of the Lovely GG and Melissa meet-up!

...I am not patient when it comes to planning and I feel like my hands are tied right now. I cant even try to book and ADR (or two) until I know if they are coming

Yessssss! Can you politely tell them to "pull their thumbs out"? :rotfl:

Linda - I am taking your advice :thumbsup2 I am going to not only plan our days try for an ADR or two but think I am going to book POR as well, knowing I can cancel.

Miss - I did "kindly" tell them....my exact text read "Not trying to be pushy ;) but just want to book something either way." :rotfl:

I got a fairly good AP rate for the weekend. Lots of choices for booking classes. I just went with standard view .... cheap as possible .... saving my money for food!! :rotfl2:

I got a fairly good AP rate for the weekend. Lots of choices for booking classes. I just went with standard view .... cheap as possible .... saving my money for food!! :rotfl2:

Yep, that is what I just booked, I think it was about $142/nt. Without a balcony I don't care what the view is, and I don't need to be close to anything.

So I am sure I have LOTS to catch up on after being MIA for a few days, but I wanted to say good morning and I will try to read all about the changes that took place while I was away...

In a nutshell, I was stupid and made some major mistakes. DH found an email that basically said I was emailing an ex and had been planning to meet up for lunch, none of which I was sharing with DH...it was a really rough weekend to say the least. Talk of divorce, custody of the kids, and Disney was not looking to being a happy trip whatsoever. However, we are working through it and things are so much better now. :flower3:

Poly is only a week away!! And we are definitely needing this time away now!

:goodvibes Hi Kook:

I was wondering about those discounts for the military because whenever we go to Seaworld with my brother or my DH, they honour both American and Canadian active/ retired military with the Free Admission. Yes, occasionally they have the FD deal for Canadians, I booked that last year...but it was also offered to the GP too, I do enjoy the FD discount :)

I am not sure where to book my next trip.....I am beginning to lean towards a 1 BDRM at Kidani for the seperate bedroom with King bed for DH and I, for the laundry room in our suite. and the extra bathroom will be great for getting ready in the AM with 2 teens and myself and DH.

BWI pulls me for the location/ and the club level access with the Deluxe room (boardwalk view). I am 100% club level addicted, and have never done without it!!
If I do forgo BWI/ CL and go with Kidani, I would definitely upgrade to Deluxe DDP to make up for no club level.....

Wish I could make my reservation now!! but with 554 days to go, I 've got a bit of a wait! I also am looking into perhaps renting DVC points for the first time....although I'd have to be pretty sure about dates/ etc...due to the very rigid cancellation policies....also , I wouldn't be able to keep and eye out for discounts or free dining if I do that , so I really have to see how much renting points at $14/point will really save me over paying directly through CRO with Disney.

I miss WDW so much, it's pretty much on my mind daily , and I just wish it was more financially feasible for us to go more often! flights from AB Canada run us at least $600 per person, and with adding on 3 days at UNIVERSAL (a must do for us now), and DDP/Tickets, etc....it isn't cheap....runs us close to 10K if not more! so I need that time to save, which sadly I am not doing a good job of with the bills I have to pay off right now! In the large scheme of things, 17 months isn't long to save, so I hope I can find a decent discount when it comes time to book!
