Our little thread of BIG Resort changes*OLD THREAD link on last pg. to new thread!

Hello ladies: How's my favorite bunch of Changing Chicas doing? :grouphug:

Jen: Enjoy the trip, safe travels! :woohoo:

Melissa: I'm with ya! I can't wait for the kiddo to be back in school. I'm hoping that'll afford me more time to dedicated to walking. Need to get out of this house. ::yes:: (And stop going on brewery road trips! ) So happy that you BOOKED! :hyper:

Koh: Hope everything's okay with you.

Jeanette: Oooooh, ahhh-DOR-AHHH-bull! :worship:

Janet: Thanks for posting those pics! What lake was Sam and Co. out on, was that Michigan? :goodvibes

~~============================~~

Miss M is away at her first day of Girl Scouts Camp; picking her up shortly. She must've grown overnight because the shoes she'd JUST wore to Disney in June are TOO SMALL! :faint: She's taking Miracle-Gro when I'm not looking, I swear it.

Hooray!!:dance3:
I can't believe how this might work out!! :cheer2:

I am in the midst of planning a change or two...no surprise, I know.:rotfl::rotfl2:
I hope your scheming, umm, changing works! The link I used is the first website that was allowed to announce the extension before Disney announces it this afternoon. Disney may still be changing their computer system to reflect the change so you might have to be patient if you try to book right now and the system hasn't been updated.

Hi Peeps!! :flower3:

Krystal, thinking of you and hoping that life is getting more manageable...

Waving hi to all my RC friends, heading out in the morning for our "road trip" to Boston! It is sure to be an adventure! :laughing:I will try to pop in with an update or two.

Jen, safe travels and have a great time! Make sure to get a pix when you meet up with Candace!

Okay I am making a change, but not to my Disney trip, to me! The past year or so of stress, medical issues and now injuries...has led to a ridiculous amount of weight gain. I was going to post over on the losing weight for Mickey boards, but just didn't feel like home. So here I am, vowing to lose at least 35 lbs by my 40th bday next May! Plenty of time to do it the right way. As of today I am counting calories, upping my water intake (which had been almost non existent) and cutting out the "happy hour" and snacking at night! Obviously my friend, the boot, means no exercise right now but that's okay. Kids start school in a month and I will start at the gym the day they go back to school!

Hold me to my word girls! I need to do this after so many start and stop attempts!!!

I'll be back to catch up with everyone in a bit :)

HUGS,
Melissa

Melissa, we are here for you! You can do it (btw, I thought you looked great in January )

Sat down with a stack of bills and quarterly tax stuff, but decided to catch up here first :rolleyes1

Janet - love the pic of Kate! Thank you for posting it!!! Looks like Sam is still having a great time! I know you miss her and the Y just isn't the same, but what an experience for her :goodvibes

Sam is having fun (I know from the lack of texts! :rotfl2:) I'm happy that she has this trip. :)

Not wavering on taking the kids. We have another trip planned with them 4 months after coming back. DH and I will go to restaurants we normally wouldn't go to because the kids don't like We have gone twice before without them. Although each time we had a family trip planned within 4 months of a mom and dad trip only

My concern was staying in a royal room without them. However I have come to to the conclusion that for my girls, they would really rather stay in a LM room at AOA.

Shannon, AOA resort looks great! Sure the girls will love the LM rooms. Its nice that you are able to have the adult trip and the family trip close to one another. And having the adult trip first is good so the girls know they have the family trip up next. :goodvibes

Ok I am in I want to lose a total of 50lbs before our WDW trip next oct. so we can do this!
And yes they do have business class I already have it booked for oct 2014 its a 30 dollar upgrade but you get food and drinks daily, morning and night (including beer and wine) also build 9b guaranteed.

We all can support one another! I've lost weight over the last 18 mos-2 years but I need the incentive to stay on track. I'll be here with you all!

Disney's Armed Forces Salute discounted tickets and rooms has been extended through 9/27/14! Details available HERE.

Kook, that's great to find out now!! :yay: for you, Ginny, and MM!

Hooray!!:dance3:
I can't believe how this might work out!! :cheer2:

I am in the midst of planning a change or two...no surprise, I know.:rotfl::rotfl2:

:rotfl2: Do tell Ginny!!

Hello ladies: How's my favorite bunch of Changing Chicas doing? :grouphug:

Janet: Thanks for posting those pics! What lake was Sam and Co. out on, was that Michigan? :goodvibes

:wave2: Not sure but it isn't Lake Michigan. I'll have to ask!

Miss M is away at her first day of Girl Scouts Camp; picking her up shortly. She must've grown overnight because the shoes she'd JUST wore to Disney in June are TOO SMALL! :faint: She's taking Miracle-Gro when I'm not looking, I swear it.

Hope Miss M had a great first day at camp and she talks your ear off non-stop about it. :flower3:

EDITED TO ADD:: Oh, but no, it's got to be CR for the laundry room LOL... off on a monorail run.... can you just see Pas lugging a laundry bag on the monorail?? It's a DVC duffle so it's legit!! :rotfl2:

A great sign to behold....

We get to see that sign in 47 days.

Speaking about weddings, I go to FB and what do I read......my Ddil or do I say ex dil posted she remarried yesterday. Just 2 days shy of the 4 year anniversary of Jason's death. I felt like I had been kicked in the stomach. I knew she was living with this guy and haven't talked to her in a few months but geez Louise not the best way of finding out and It was the timing being so close to Jason's Angel day that really got me. :sad2:

 I am so sorry. That is such a terrible way to find out. I'm sure it made it harder with it being so close to Jason's Angel day, but I bet it would have felt like a kick in the stomach at any time. Maybe she was just scared to tell you and how much she thought it would hurt you. Of course, she should have realized finding out the way you did, hurt you much worse.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......chilling in the AC......

Our downstairs AC konked out a few weeks ago. We've been looking for replacements but in 100+ degree weather, you can imagine how hard it is to come by AC's. and then if we ordered on line, by the time we got them the heat wave would be over....you know how that is....:rolleyes2

So, we have been living in our bedrooms the past few days.....BUT, today at lunch I went to Target, which is right next to Lowes....which I happened to notice was getting a fresh shipment of AC's!!!!!!!!! I was able to grab 2 of them!!! People were grabbing them right off the pallets.

So, now...I'm in my living room...completely comfortable! And even better, we needed a dehumidifier for our basement and my DFIL just showed up with one that he bought us!!!! pixiedust:

One less thing to buy.....:cool1:

Oh, and I think I have a ch-ch-change a coming! Probably switching from POP to All Star Sports for September!!! I haven't stayed there since my Disneymoon in 2002,but they just had a refurb and now have duvet covers, and BFF and I prefer those so....:scratchin

I'm sorry your AC went out, but I'm glad you just happened to be at the right place & time to be able to grab a couple.

I leave for an afternoon and you girls move 2 pages on me.......:rotfl: wow my TA is on vacation and told me to use this other girl while she was gone. Well the other girl messed our reservation all up I have sent her like 6 messeges and just found something else she mixed up.......Ashley where are ya hon?? need you asap ......ok guess it can wait but dang I should not have to double check everything 3 times. Ok sorry for the ranting hijack..........:cool1:
444days to Disney......lol

Some days this thread moves crazy fast. It's even worse when your away from the thread for the weekend.

It's those kind of issues that keep me from ever using a TA when booking a WDW trip. The only way I would use a TA for a Disney trip, is on a overseas trip. I'm too OCD and controlling about my WDW vacations to let anyone have any control over it, even my DH.

Hope everyone is having a nice relaxing Saturday. I know my Sam is having fun... Her and Carlie are out tubing today!!

8fc05b29-a593-41ad-ad96-d4f227a6adb5_zps27ef29ab.jpg

They look like they're having a blast.

I did it, I called and made the change. CM said DVC just must of released it but they don't stay for long, so happy I did it. The whole trip is still a "maybe" anyway, so why not shoot for the moon ::yes::

I was going to suggest the change, but you made it before I got to the thread. My thinking is that it is probably easier to change from TPV to LV than from LV to TPV as it gets closer to your trip.

We are having a quiet birthday day for Steven today. He got a Wii U and we went to Carvel for ice cream, that is all he wanted. I cant believe he is 10 already :faint

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Melissa

Happy late Birthday to Steven!!

Posted this on Pas' PTR:

Here is Miss Kate in the Portofino lobby ... Jeanette says busy but lots of fun ... A perfect vacation so far!! Little Brian and Brandon got to go on despicable me for the fist time ..r. And a first for Kate was the mummy!! Yikes!! (Btw she LOVED it!)

Jen

Safe travels and have fun!!

Good Morning RC Friends! :wave2:

Hope everyone had a restful weekend!! I see there was a bit of POR chatter, so here's a very early morning pic from the resort. Love that place!!!

Heather

Beautiful picture!!

I think I'll join you. I need to get healthier. In all honesty, I would love to drop 100 pounds by our 20th anniversary. I would love to go to Aulani, and I don't want to do it at this size. That gives me until July 1, 2015 to drop 100 pounds.

I have got the Mission Impossible theme tune playing in my head now. :rotfl2: Go, go Jeanette!

:lmao:

Luckily, it's still quiet around here, and the fil hasn't read his dad's will yet. I had an easy day on Friday at the friend's in home day care. By the end of nap time, I was down to 2 kids (other than my friend's 3 yr old and 2 teenagers). On Saturday we took the boys out to eat at MiCocina. I just love the guacamole!! From there, we saw R.I.P.D. which was good, just not as funny as I thought it would have been. Yesterday, I went to Sam's and Wal Mart with the inlaws. Then last night we had birthday cake (for the mil's birthday) and watched the new Oz movie. The rest of the weekend was spent gaming with the DH.

We may be making a small change to our WDW trip. JM and I talked about staying at the All Star Movies the night before we check into the AKL. On Friday, I got an email saying that if I book at the Swan or Dolphin by 7/24 we get a free room upgrade with rooms starting at $139 a night. We have until Wednesday to decide, but I really think the DH wants to book that instead of the ASMo.

Good thing the DIS doesn't date stamp quoted posts - let's just pretend these are from say, yesterday:flower3::grouphug:

I'm eagerly awaiting for DH to call back with word on whether we can leave next Tue. rather than Wed. We'd get to WL the same day, but if he can take Tue. off, then we can take two days down and stop in GA, then only have 4 hours on Wed., which would bring us into WL about 8 hours earlier:hyper:. I'm always scheming and already got him to agree to go down in one day, so I'm really pushing my luck here.

Kook: Congrats on the new Tetris piece! :car: Have you experienced any accidental braking-thinking-it's-the-clutch? (I regret never having a manual, though the daily commute for many years via the parking lot that is the Beltway factored into that decision.) LOL, "unbridled enthusiasm"... got that right!
LOL about the accidental braking. I used to always do that with the dealership's loaner cars. I think I'm the only one who ever asks for a manual loaner.

:woohoo: A new car and WL in one month!! Yeah baby!
Well, luckily it isn't a month, but it sure feels like it:upsidedow

KooK Congrats on the new wheels! My first car was a standard (when I was 16)....I crashed that car...been driving an automatic ever since. You're almost to the OFC!!! I would be lying if I said I wasn't pricing that out today...

That's great that at least you learned on a stick. Most kids these days never learn how to drive a manual.

Kook .... glad to hear you got yourself a new toy :car: Be reminded that the speed limit doesn't exceed 70 on the way down to Orlando ;)
Oh, it doesn't? Hmmm... Thought I saw a GPS once that just might have indicated a speed slightly above 70 once on I95:scratchin

:cheer2: congrats on both your upcoming trip and the new car! What did you get? I can hear the boat horns already!
Love Dole Whips, have yet to try a Lapu!!maybe this trip?
It's a '13 Toyota Avalon Limited. This is a big change for us as we've only owned German cars with three initials since 2000. We still have 3 Bimmers so at least we didn't have to part with any when we moved into the 21st century with this here newfangled automatic.

WDWKOOK: Your new ride is programmed with GPS presets. Preset #1 is the route to Del Boca Vista.

WDWKOOK: Yup, still at OKW, arrive 31st. :goodvibes Not being a big drinker, my downfall is those Captain's Mai Tai's. Ohhhhhh my... must stay faaaaar away from those. :faint: Janet will need to partake is Dole Whips very soon. Speaking of DWs, I hope they add the Cap'n Morgan Dole Whip to the regular rotation soon, like in the next week! :hyper:
Of course it is:rotfl:

And, the new car, umm locomotive... is a behemoth! I could sleep in the backseat if I had to;)

Linda - I guess since you are picking everyone up and then flying south, I will have to make the drive north to meet you  Maybe KOOK will fly down and see her in laws then drive up with me

KOOK - congrats on the new wheels :drive: I always had a manual up north for more control in the snow, but once I moved to FL, it has been automatics all the way. DH still loves his manuals though, and always special orders his car that way, MEN
I'll just skip the in-law part and drive up with you, thank you! You're in no shape to drive though, so I'll drive and you can switch seats with me when the FHP come out from behind the palm trees on the Turnpike.

For 26 years, we've ordered all our cars with manuals, too so I can relate to your DH. It's getting harder and harder to find them though. In doing my research, I think I memorized every car that still has one. I'm a bit of a CARKOOK, too.

Overall calories not as bad (don't look at the fat or sodium content though)

SEC McGriddle 550 Calories
BEC McGriddle 460 Calories
Oh, stop that! We leave next week and I'm looking forward to our ritual Sonic stop and I thought there were no calories on vacation???

Kookster-How's the new roadster? :cool1:
It's so...civilized and full of so many fun bells and whistles. It's very un-German, but in a nice Japanese way:thumbsup2

So, this is my 2nd visit to this thread:rotfl2: This is a couples only FD getaway. Originally booked at POP, then considered CSR, but then booked king room at POR Riverside, then found out our room could be in AB, which is not our cup of tea, so then booked a Royal Room at Riverside.

However, now I am thinking I will be feeling guilty not having my girls on this trip, ages 12 & 5, so I am thinking of going back to POP.

So thoughts

Also, if we do change back to POP, and I am NOT within my 45 days of arrival, is there a charge to do so?

Thanks
:welcome: back!

If you booked room-only then you can cancel without penalty 5 days or more prior to arrival. If you booked a packaged, there is no penalty 45 days or more prior to arrival. Can the girls stay in the RR since it has two queens?

spiritsim, alysa, wookie - yep together we can do this!

Ginny - So happy the discount was renewed and you can make your changes :dance3:

Miss - how was Miss M's first day of GS camp? Oh I know on the shoes (and clothes), I swear they grow overnight

Janet - be thankful Sam texted at all! My brother used to go away with my uncle when we were little and they would never call and check in with my mom to even let her know they landed, I swear she paced for the entire week each time they went away :sad2:

Oh and why am I not surprised the ONLY laundry facility Jeanette could find in Orlando happened to be on Disney property :rotfl:

Wookie - glad you had a nice weekend! My vote is for the Swan! I guess I missed that you may be at ASMo and not the Swan the night before AKL.

KOOK - Hubby orders that same 3 letter German car  We were actually just talking this morning about that, there are so many cars he wont consider because he cant get it as a stick. He wants to cut his payment back, but just doesn't even know what else to look at. It will take a while to get used to a Japanese car, but eventually you will get the hang of it ;) I went from Japanese, to German, back to Japanese. I swear everything is on opposite sides.

I should probably start thinking about dinner....know what I am making, just not ready to put my boot on and stand for a while :sad1:

:grouphug:
Melissa

Home sick with a headache but wanted to mention to the RC ladies that are looking to drop a little weight .... me included ..... the Dis DL Diva ladies started a private FB group for just that. It's a great place to share ideas about healthy eating, exchange recipes and just be a private supportive place. The DL Divas have several FB groups on different topics ....

Ok turning off the lights again and back to resting. Remind me to show much more sympathy to you poor ladies that get headaches all the time .... this is not normal for me.

Hi from Albany NY! We spent the day driving....and had our howe's caverns adventure! It was super fun, although I must admit I was a wee bit claustrophobic.:sad2: But I battled through it and persevered, I was proud of myself :thumbsup2

Arrived at Homewood Suites Albany and found out that they had upgraded us to a two bedroom suite!:dance3::yay::cheer2: We are not at Disney but got some pixie dust! 1 king bed, 2 queens, 1 pullout, 3 flatscreen TV's, full kitchen...it is awesome! DH keeps saying good work to me, but hey....this wasn't my doing!;)

Also arrived to find a full ' lounge ' like dinner including wine and beer! Wahoo!:yay:
Life is good, going to take the kiddos swimming soon. Headed out tomorrow for Natick Mall and some shopping at the AG store.

The girls have done well, not tooooo much fighting in the car.

Kook: yay for the military discount being extended! So happy for those of you that can take advantage!

Janet: no meet up....scheduling problems I think. I would have loved it!:sad1:glad Sam texted her mom!:debwalk:

Miss: how did camp go??

Melissa: hi! Missed you! I will join in in the weight loss too, after vaca of course!

Linda: hope you feel better soon.:grouphug:

Sorry for missing everyone else

Jen

Jen - wait, wasn't the Boston trip supposed to be just you and DH? I guess I totally missed that it became a family trip. Glad you had a good day and WOOHOO on the non Disney pixie dust :)

Alas no adults only for us....didn't work out.:worried: But it's all good, I just told DD9 I am so glad they are with us, without her I would not have had a motivational coach in the caves helping me get through it!:rotfl:

Thanks Sue! I have already changed my reservation to the royal room as I didn't want to chance the AB king room I'm just worries I will feel guilty being in a royal room without my girls
You'll love it. I'd put in a room request for Oak Manor, great location.

Sounds great. I'll be happy if I can loose 5lb before wdw trip. In 2.5 weeks!! But ultimately I'd like to drop 20. So I'll be right here cheering for you :cheer2:

Kook haha, my DH has a German SUV, can't believe how much just an oil change is!!! So when I bought myself a new car awhile ago, I went in the opposite direction, and got a Hyundai Sonata :rotfl: love it! It's been a great car. When I need something bigger I steal DHs SUV :upsidedow

Hi Rcers, I am back from my weekend of cheating on WDW. We had a great time visiting with my DB and we had lots of laughs. He'll be in town here the rest of this week with us so I am a very happy gal. :goodvibes

As for the short answer on my actual HRH/Leows CL and Universal Studios experiences, let me just say it was just not my cup of tea. :guilty::worried::crazy2::( I wish I could've just teleported :teleport: to WDW to get me some :tink:MAGICAL PIXIE DUST that was sorely lacking IMO at HRH/Leows CL and Universal Studios. Then I'd be all like this again:

If I ever mention the urge to go to Univ again PLEASE remind me ::yes:: to hoof it over from one of my beloved WDW resorts for a short-dose day trip. :rolleyes1 I regret cancelling that Poly CL ressie more than words can say.

I will get caught up with what is up with you guys and be back soon.

Good Morning! :wave2:

Late start for me :upsidedow Didn't get out of bed until almost 8!

Jenn....:yay::banana: for the upgrade!!! Always funny how we compare everything to Disney

Wookie...glad to hear it was a quiet weekend :thumbsup2 You deserve that.

Magic...What in the world??!! No kidding, huh?! You were disappointed in your non-Disney vacation. Sorry to hear that. DH is jonesing to go to Universal!

Grumpy...hope your headache is gone today and you rested well last night!

Kook...any word on your early departure???

Janet...had to read your Pas Update twice  Couldn't believe it

Now to do something productive (I think) ;)
Heather

Happy Tuesday RCers,

Jen-Have a great time on your road trip!:drive:

Spiritsim-Those sound like nice benefits of CSR. Good choice.:cool1:

Heather-Your photos are always just beautiful, I really enjoy them.:goodvibes

GG-Hope your headache is better, those are miserable.

Miss-Hope MissM is having lots of fun at Girl Scout Camp. :cutie:

Janet and Kook-Well, then change is complete! :yay: As usual, availability changes rapidly. I was able to get BWI last night and then add WL this morning. Beginning of F&W is a busy time anyway, so I'm glad it worked out.
We are two nights at Wilderness Lodge in a Honeymoon room, and then 5 at BWI CL. I am really happy and grateful for the offer, it made a big difference in our total cost. Two months and one day till our trip, I am getting very excited!! :dance3:

==================================
I have to get busy today. I spent way too much time on the phone with Disney Reservations yesterday...As usual Disney's IT issues presented an extra layer of challenges. Any chance it will ever be fixed??
In the meantime, laundry and bathrooms to clean await me! Fun, fun fun!:rotfl:

I booked our August 2014 trip!!! :cool1:

We booked at CR Garden Wing from 8/16/14-8/24/14!!!

It was tough for me to make a reservation though, I have to say...
With the whole furlough thing going on, and not knowing how we'll be affected in 2014 by that, I decided to be conservative and go for only 8 nights and just do the garden wing. I think 8 nights will be better though, because by day 9 this past trip, you might recall that my kids were crying to get home...

So, no CL for me this trip, and I feel ok about that. Even if furlough continues to next year, this is a trip that we would still be able to afford, so I am happy! ::yes::

I also modified my food & wine trip...stuck with POP, and got the whole trip covered under military discount, dropping our total by about $150. pixiedust:

Woohooooo!!!! :hyper:

Being held hostage today awaiting the washer guy. First it wouldn't drain at all, then later it magically did. Hooray! But, it often decides not to spin and requires "encouragement" in the form of my spinning it a bit with my hand until it catches on. It's a three curse washer at this point.

Kook...any word on your early departure???

Up after 0800:confused:... Are you sick?

Leaving Tuesday instead of Wednesday is a GO! This is how DH managed it: DH said someone asked him about having a meeting next week and he replied, "Can't do it that day, I'll be on leave beginning Tuesday:rotfl:. Better to have made it a declarative statement rather than a question;)

I had to read the Jeanette update twice, too and I still don't quite understand. I thought she was taking the girls to the parks or is the laundry bag a clever ruse? I'm confused.

Yippee for booking and snagging the HS at WL! So glad you could use the military discount, but I'm sorry about your DH's furlough and all this uncertainty.

:hyper:
Dropping CL is really hard after you've gotten a taste of it, but having a trip booked with a nice discount is priceless. Is your DH furloughed?

Just curious, was CL even an option with the Military Salute renewal? I thought I read that someone couldn't book CL somewhere on the first day the discount was released and they said it wasn't available with the discount anymore:confused3

ETA: Ginny booked CL so it must still be possible.
