Well we got initial paperwork from Timeshare Closing Services, Inc. for our DVC at VWL. The paper says that from start to the point of closing, it takes approximately 30 days or less. From the start to the point of resort acknowledgement, it takes approximately 45 days. Then it states that if for some reason you want this process expedited, they have a special priority service that can speed things up by about 2-3 weeks, and it costs $45.00. Technically we don't need to have everything expedited, but needless to say we are very anxious to close because we are dying to make reservations. Have any of you used this service and did it really speed things up? (We're just not sure if it's more of a money maker that they use, knowing how anxious DVC buyers can be!!!;) ). Thanks!!!

Congratulations!

I have not had my closing "expedited", but I'm not sure it's worth it unless you need to make a reservation in home resort window (7-11 months out). Christmas and NYE of 2002 would fall into that category since anyone would be able to make reservations at VWL in May.

BTW, we're going to be staying at your lovely resort in 3 weeks!

If it will help you by allowing you to make your reservations sooner thereby improving your chances or allow you to bank points that you might not otherwise, I'd go for it. If not, just wait.

Here's the catch 22, the slow thing right now with resales is Disney. They aren't fast. They are so swamped with BCV sales, they are really taking their sweet time. So you might speed things up by a few days, but will it be worth it to you?

(It took us about 7 weeks to close, the holdup being Disney. They extended the "30 days" on the contract to cover. Took forever for Disney to return right of first refusal. Then longer than what I understand to be usual for them to return paperwork. And they don't have us in the system yet. Our initial contact with the reseller was around March 1.)

Technically, if DVC doesn't act on the ROFR in 30 days, they've forfeited their right to do so. One should set up closing at 30 days from when it's sent to DVC and if DVC doesn't notify you within that time, simply complete the closing.

They have a committee that meets and I can't remember if it's once a week or once every 2 weeks. Still, I've always seen them act quickly. On the 2 resales we bought previously, they acted very quickly. On the resale we had pending at BW that they bought back, we heard verbally from them very quickly that they were going to buy it back. With the pending BW resale we have now, they asked for more info from the seller since he had declared bankruptcy previously and we had that info very quickly. Whether that means they're going to buy it back, I wonder, else why would they care. They'd simply let us worry about it and I'm definitely opting for the Title Insurance.

I also can't see where the BCV and resale committee (? name) would be related as I'm sure they are separate people and the lawyers for closing wouldn't get involved unless DVC were buying it back. Maybe there's something I don't know about in this arena.

I am going through exactly like what you have. I bought a resale from Timeshare Store and I paid the $45 for the priority service. The seller signed the contract on 4/15 and I was told by DVC Member Service Admin. that they received the paperwork on 4/17. DVC told me that I probably can close by the 1st week of May, the latest will be mid-May.

The service is worth it for me because I also bought BVC points as add-on. I need to use this contract as my master contract so that they can close BVC as an add-on.

I hope this will help.

We did not expedite our closing and we closed fairly quickly (aboutr 3 weeks, 1 1/2 years ago). We were able to make ressies as soon as we called even without our ID number.

Maybe someone who has closed recently can be more helpful on the timeframe.

We recently bought a BWV resale, and here is our timeline (we opted NOT to get the expedited service.)
We made an offer and it was accepted on March 11, mailed our down payment March 12 to the Timeshare Store, closed on April 17, and when I called Member Services on Friday morning our contract showed up "in the system" as in progress (she said they are working on it) but the points are not yet showing up as being available; however she said that they should be available to make reservations, etc., on Monday or Tuesday.
As a side note, our resale has the same use year and home resort as our original contract and our resale will be an extension of our original contract, not a completely different contract - nice because it will be a little less complicated to track our points.:)
Good luck on your decision!

You are moving much faster than we are.

We made an offer March 4th, signed paperwork March 5th.

We have not expidieted anything (I'm in no rush).

On 4/4 Disney waived ROFR.

At that time Jaki said it should be about two weeks. Disney still needed to get the closer the account documents.

My closing documents arrived 4/17 and I wired the money off and 2nd day aired everything back the next day.

Still haven't closed, the seller didn't get the proper documents notarized, so we are waiting for her to resign.
