"One More Waffle!" An October 2011 TR! *Update 4/24, pg 70-The End!*

The world showcase at night is so beautiful! I know exactly what you mean when you talk about that feeling in your stomach. I love that feeling. I am such an adrenaline junkie when it comes to theme parks. Luckily for me my hubby loves mission space orange. When they put in the green side i was like "who would want to ride that?" I would definitely ride it by myself though if the person i was with wouldn't go on it.

Love reading about your adventures in Norway-- by far my favorite pavillion!! That giftshop is amazing-- Zach always tries on the sweaters that are DEFINITELY for women but fit him so well. :rotfl: The best is when the CMs tell him he look great-- um, joke pictures, people!
I broke down and bought Laila when I went in October. The 10% discount with my Disney Visa softened the blow-- I really do feel like I'm back in Epcot when I wear it! I try to only wear it during special occasions to really stretch the bottle!

Oh, how I adore Illuminations. Seriously, I could watch it all day, every day. I love everything about it! :lovestruc

EMH is great, isn't it? I agree, a wait for a ride like the Maelstrom is just annoying! Although I am on Team Brandon when it comes to Mission: Space...not a fan of the green side, will not attempt the orange one! Sorry!

Great WS/Illuminations pictures. That picture from the boat on Maelstrom makes me want to ride it right now. It's one of those rides that's fun but we don't always manage to do it on every trip.

haha, maybe they don't keep the F&WF booths open because they might end up with a lot of drunk people!

Those "good life" commercials are awesome. :goodvibes That's funny Brandon woke you up to see it.

Great update! I love EMH too. It's going to be weird not having them when we go in June, since we are staying offsite this time around. Of course, with DD this time around, I don't think we'd be cruising around MK at 1am anyways, but still!

Thanks! I always think about staying offsite, since you can get a beautiful room for a value hotel price, but...I can't miss my magic hours! I'm guessing when we have kids it will be a different story! :rotfl:

Great Epcot update! I love your Illuminations pictures! Beautiful! :lovestruc

I've only ever ridden Maelstrom once! I really enjoyed it, but since then every time we've gone by there the line is too long!

I played with those same antlers on our vacation!

Awww Brandon waking you up to see the Disney commercial is precious! He's not fooling anyone! ;)

I love The American Adventure! It's such a great show, but it's also my favorite place to sneak a nap! You're right- it's so cozy with that amazing show going on!

I wish I could enjoy the orange side of Mission:Space like you do! I want to like it, but it freaks me out and makes me feel like I can't breathe! I still really like the green side, though. Maybe it's just because I get to see Gary Sinise!

Thanks! I love Illuminations sooo much! Someday I'll watch and NOT take pictures!

I can't imagine Maelstrom having a long line! That's just not right! :sad2:

Seriously, I'm so over Brandon pretending he doesn't like Disney as much as I do! Now if only I could get him to admit he likes Stacey...:rotfl2:

I love the American Adventure too! I always end up crying a little at the end, I don't know what is up with that! Disney magic, I guess! It is a nice place to rest your eyes too!

I love the orange side of Mission Space! I liked the green side before I did the orange, and now, it just doesn't compare! However, I actually wanted to be an astronaut at one point in my life, so that might have something to do with it! When I first went on the orange side, I was convinced I was going to puke everywhere, and I almost wanted to warn the other people with us, but I ended up being fine and Brandon felt nauseous!

I always get so excited about the EMH and we rarely make it halfway through. Props to you for making it!!! :)

There's just something about the WS that I love at night. However, I love FW during the day. Today the Epcot entrance music came on when I was in the shower and I just got that warm, fuzzy feeling inside. I can't wait to go to Epcot in just a couple of weeks! :)

Haha, we hardly ever make it to the end of EMH anymore either! I don't know why, maybe I make us get up too early? :rolleyes1

OMG I love the Epcot entrance music!!! I love walking in there and hearing that music and seeing Spaceship Earth in front of me...ahhh, I can't wait to be there!!! So jealous you'll be there in a few weeks!

what a great update!

I TOTALLY agree with you about Illuminations! If I could watch it every night of my Disney trips, I would. And then there's the awesome pre-Illuminations music.....:cloud9:

I love Maelstrom and I think I would right it a couple times in a row if I could...maybe.... We rode KRR like 5 times in a row once...and the TTA...but I don't know about Maelstrom....

And OMG the Norway gift shop is SO expensive!!! I fell head over heels for this gorgeous pink sweater there a couple years ago, and it was $160!! :scared1: And one year, I forgot to bring lotion with me (and I'm addicted) so when we stopped in Norway, I thought I'd get a bottle there because it smells so wonderful.... but it was $40! That was in 2008 so obviously inflation is playing a role here since it's not $55! It's a shame, too because I love it!

Yay that you made it through EMH!! I've never done the green side of MS just the orange and I love it! Kudos for not falling asleep during American Adventure! :thumbsup2

Thanks!

I can't get enough of the pre Illuminations music! I listen to it like 50 times a week. Sometimes I think I should actually make myself stop, because I'm like, an addict with my Disney music! It's all I listen to anymore!

Wow, you rode KRR 5 times in a row? I've been on that ride once! That's it! I should give it another try, I'm guessing?

I'm really thinking I might ask Brandon to buy me some Laila for an anniversary present. I mean, I'm giving him a deluxe resort! He can get me a tiny bottle of perfume!

I did the green side before the orange side and I really thought I might die on the orange side if I tried it...however, I ended up loving it! It's just SO much fun! I have to go on it again, even if I go alone!

Hey!! I've read your whole TR and I love it. Ahh, I love going during F&W so much! My favorite time of year to go to Disney! All of your pics are making me ACHE!! We are trying to go for it this year and if it doesn't work out again I may die!

OMG I was so sad for you when I read about your first day migraine. I got sick while at Disney once and it was so devastating! Luckily, like you, I felt better the next day. I was so happy to read you felt fine after some rest. Sometimes, that's all it takes!

That's so funny that you saw Aurora just roaming around the GF!

Oh man, I'm sorry your MSSHP was so crowded. I have been dying to go to that party for years, I really hope we get a non sold out night. I'll have to do some research on what nights are usually the least crowded.

For someone who says she can't draw, I think your pic of Jiminy is great! I can not draw AT ALL, i'm so terrible at it, so I'm really anxious to see how my picture will turn out when I go there.

I agree 100% ToT is the best ride of all time! I will never get even slightly tired of it. I also agree that it is so unnecessary to wait in the Fantasmic line unless it is one of the crazy nights where they fill to capacity, in which case I'd say it's not even worth the frustration.

OMG it is too funny that the lady at Kona asked if the pic would end up on the DIS. I love running into random Dissers at the parks! And I also want to stay at the Poly so bad... I would not mind getting lost there either.

Can't wait for more.. i'll probably be reading your Christmas one too. I really want to go again during the holidays. I need to see the Osborne lights and Holiday Illuminations again! And we never did MVMCP! I really need two trips at the end of this year, it's just a fact.

Heyyy!! So glad you're here! :cool1:

Christmas has always been my favorite time to go to Disney, but I think now F&W is. Why? Food and Wine obviously! :rotfl: Being in Epcot without the booths is starting to feel strange to me now! I wish it extended into December. I hope you can go back this Fall! :wizard:

Ughhh...that migraine! I can't believe my whole first night was ruined because of it! Thank God it went away the next day, if it didn't, I don't know what I would have done! Being sick in Disney is the worst! :sad2:

That's so weird that you mentioned Aurora at the GF...just the other day I asked Brandon if he remembered that, and he said "who?" And I was like "AURORA!!! Sleeping Beauty! JEEEEZ!" :rotfl: I suppose I shouldn't have gotten SO mad that he didn't know a Disney princess...:rolleyes1

I couldn't believe that party was sold out! I thought going at the end of September would be relatively crowd-free, but I guess that was the last night of cast member discounts? And it was the night before the 40th anniversary, so that weekend was packed! Usually I think they just sell out around Halloween.

I really can't draw! :rotfl2: But we had a really good instructor, and they make it so simple so anyone can follow along and make a decent drawing! I can't wait to do another drawing class, it's so much fun!

I don't think I could ever get tired of ToT either! It is the best ride ever! If I ever get to move to Florida to live my dream of being a Disney CM, that is the attraction I want to work at! Which I've heard is like, impossible to get into, because everyone wants to work there!

I can't believe that lady asked if my pics would end up on the DIS! I should have just said yes and told her my DIS name! She is the only DIS'er I've run into so far! In all my trips, just one!

I love going to Disney for the Holidays, I need to see the Osborne Lights again too...and Holiday Wishes...and go to MVMCP! 2 trips a year should be mandatory for anyone who loves Disney. It's just not fair that it's not possible every year. :)

When they put in the green side i was like "who would want to ride that?" I would definitely ride it by myself though if the person i was with wouldn't go on it.

I'm glad my DH likes roller coasters, at least! And ToT! If he didn't like those types of rides, we would have problems! I just don't get why he doesn't like Mission Space! It's so much fun! :cool1:

Love reading about your adventures in Norway-- by far my favorite pavillion!! That giftshop is amazing-- Zach always tries on the sweaters that are DEFINITELY for women but fit him so well. :rotfl: The best is when the CMs tell him he look great-- um, joke pictures, people!

I love Norway too, it's a fun pavilion! Haha, that's so funny that Zach tries on the women's sweaters! OMG! I almost forgot, I have an AP! You can get discounts with that! Hmmm...maybe now I'll really beg for a bottle of Laila when we go in May! I need to have that in my life at some point! :cool1:

Oh, how I adore Illuminations. Seriously, I could watch it all day, every day. I love everything about it! :lovestruc

EMH is great, isn't it? I agree, a wait for a ride like the Maelstrom is just annoying! Although I am on Team Brandon when it comes to Mission: Space...not a fan of the green side, will not attempt the orange one! Sorry!

Illuminations is the best! :cool1: I will never get tired of seeing it! I'd love to stay at an Epcot resort on a future trip and walk over to Epcot every single night and see it!

I love magic hours! Especially at Epcot and DHS, I love when it gets so late you feel like you have the park to yourself! :lovestruc

Mission Space is so much fun! I can't wait to go on it again in May! I wonder if I will be brave enough for a solo mission on the orange side!

Thanks! I know, I wish I was on Maelstrom right now! Or the Peoplmover. I'd settle for either one!

Yeah, I guess keeping booths open til 12 might be a little crazy, but they could at least give us til 10! :rotfl:

I love those commercials! And I didn't like that song when it came out, but now that it's a Disney song, I love it! :rotfl2:

Wonderful update! Love the Illuminations photos! Can't wait to see it in October!!

Thanks! I love Illuminations, it's so amazing!! :thumbsup2

I love that Mickey Ornament and I'm so mad I didn't buy one in December. Why didn't you tell me ahead of time just to buy it? :rotfl: Maybe it will be there in October.

Pretty Illuminations pictures. Love the one with the outlines of the building.

Brandon sounds like Denny. He always say the same thing about Disney - if he goes more than every 18months he says it boring.

The green side of MS is a little boring.

It made me laugh when you said you thought the American Adventure might wake you up! :rotfl: I clearly remember being very tired in there one trip and it is WAY too comfortable and easy to rest your eyes in there! Whether or not you want to, even.

I also wish they would keep the F&W booths open later on EMH nights. Oh, well.

I'm with Brandon on Mission Space. I've done both and would be fine not doing either again for quite awhile. Dug loves it, though, and has done the orange side on his own several times. Maybe you could send Brandon on a mission to Norway to acquire your gift while you ride MS?

I'm with Brandon for Mission Space. I won't do the orange side because I know I'll just feel super icky for hours after and it will ruin my day. And the green side is kinda boring and not worth the wait at all. So I let Ron go on it alone. However, I do love the weightlessness feeling in TOT.

ILLUMINATIONS IS THE BEST! Why would anyone want it to change? What in the world? It's so beautiful!!!!!!!!! (yes, I'm THAT enthusiastic about it haha!)

It seems like Brandon needs to just face facts and admit he is a Disney lover! You converted him! :woohoo:

That's such a pretty ornament, I'm glad you got it! Umm okay, so I'm a wimp and I've never done either side of Mission: Space. Like I get motion sick very easily so I guess that's why. But I think I should just suck it up (and make someone wait for me at the end with a coke to settle my stomach hahah!) and ride it!

Hooray for making it to the end of EMH, woooo!

Yay, Illuminations!!!! :cool1: I watched that show SO many times and am still could watch it again lol!

Love the hoodie as well but wow at the price tag!!! :scared1:

Haha, I'm sorry I didn't tell you to buy that ornament! Why don't you buy it in June, why wait til October? I'm sure they will still be there!

Thanks! I think I might not take any Illuminations pictures on our May trip...I just want to enjoy it! :)

I can't imagine going every 18 months! Waiting 6 months is long enough!

It made me laugh when you said you thought the American Adventure might wake you up! :rotfl: I clearly remember being very tired in there one trip and it is WAY too comfortable and easy to rest your eyes in there! Whether or not you want to, even.

Haha, well, I didn't mean because it's so exciting it will wake us up, I meant if maybe we rested a little, we'd come out refreshed! Didn't exactly work that way!

Good idea, maybe I will ask Brandon to go to Norway when I ride Mission Space alone!

I love Mission Space so much, I can't believe so many people don't like it! I mean, it is intense but that's what's so awesome about it! :woohoo: I hope I'm brave enough to go alone in May!

I don't know why people complain about Illuminations! :sad2: I wonder if they expected it to be like Wishes at first, this grand fireworks show and maybe they were disappointed with the water and lasers and everything? That's what makes it great, it is SO different from Wishes! :lovestruc

Brandon does tell me he likes Disney, but he keeps saying he wants to go other places! :sad2: I'm hoping after this trip he finally admits that he loves it and wants to keep going back! :rolleyes1

Hmmm...honestly, if you get motion sick, I'd skip Mission Space, at least the orange side, I mean, it is REALLY intense! I don't get motion sickness at all, and I was terrified the first time I went on it that I'd puke everywhere! The green side is ok though, you don't spin on that side, so you should be alright! The green side is actually good if you can't handle the orange side, it doesn't suck or anything! Give it a try! :thumbsup2

Yay, Illuminations!!!! :cool1: I watched that show SO many times and am still could watch it again lol!

Love the hoodie as well but wow at the price tag!!! :scared1:

I love Illuminations! I can't wait to see it in a few weeks! :lovestruc

Haha, I know right? I can't believe everything in the Norway shop is SO expensive!!!

Eat, Shop, Eat Again!

Thursday, 10/6

Welcome to a new day of our trip! I love starting to write about a new day, it's like reliving that day of the trip all over again! We're getting towards the end, guys. I know. I'm sad too. But don't worry, there are still 2 and half more days left, and even though I say I'm going to update more often, it will still probably take me another 2 months to finish! (Although, look at this, 2 updates in a week! :woohoo:)

Brandon and I had such a late night at Epcot that we planned to sleep in that morning. And by sleep in, I mean we were up by 9 or so. Which for me, in Disney (actually, in real life too) IS sleeping in. Why waste precious Disney hours SLEEPING?

Anyway, I went out on the balcony like I normally did in the morning and heard the geyser going off! The geyser! Did anyone see the old episode of Great Hotels with Samantha Brown when she went to the Wilderness Lodge? Well, she kept missing the geyser and finally saw it go off at the end! That's how I felt on this trip! I always missed it!! So I leaned as far over the balcony as I could and snapped a picture of it without falling over and decapitating myself of something:

IMG_0899.jpg

*Sniff* I miss the Wilderness Lodge sooooo much right now!!! I miss my mornings on the balcony!

We went down to Roaring Forks to get breakfast, and we got our usual croissant sandwiches with potatoes and I devoured every bit of it!

IMG_0900.jpg

Those potatoes are SO good! They're nothing like the normal Disney potatoes, they are grated and amazing! Another reason I miss my Wilderness Lodge right now, there's no where in CT I can get breakfast like that!

Once we finished our breakfast, we went over to Downtown Disney. Since I was really into Vinylmation now, I had to check out DStreet!

P1000903.jpg

It's so cute in there! Soooo many Vinylmations!

P1000907.jpg

(Do you see the Swedish Chef Vinylmation, on the left, 3rd Vinyl in, 3rd row up from the bottom? WANT!)

I think I traded one and got one that I didn't like so I didn't bother putting it in my notes. If I got a Vinyl I liked, I made a note of it. If not, I just put "traded Vinyl" in my notes! So who knows what I got that day, but it was eventually traded away!

After DStreet, we went over to the Marketplace side of DTD, and I went into my favorite store of all time, the Christmas store!

P1000909.jpg

I LOVE this store! Brandon won't come in there with me anymore, because he knows I will just circle and circle until I can finally decide what to get. Which is usually a ridiculous amount of ornaments. I gave myself a limit today-only 2! 2 ornaments! I must have been temporarily insane or something, because I'm not sure how I walked out of there with just 2!

One ornament I decided to get was:

P1000910.jpg

a 40th anniversary ornament, because we were there for the 40th and I didn't really like any of the other merchandise they were selling in the parks. Well, except the 40th anniversary Disney Dooney and Bourkes. But I couldn't exactly be spending $200 on a purse, so I settled for an ornament to remember the occasion. Although I feel I'd remember it better with a purse. :rolleyes1

My other ornament was this beauty:

P1000911.jpg

Sorry about the glare, but isn't it cute? I got that one because it said 2011 on the back, and I like that it has the Christmas castle on the front.

We looked around TrenD for a little while, and I whined about how I couldn't fit in any of their adorable Disney tees, and then we went to World of Disney where I bought another Vinylmation. All week I kept seeing Pirates of the Caribbean Vinylmation sets, but they said "coming soon" so they weren't for sale. Until that day. The only one I wanted was Jack Sparrow, so I grabbed a box, paid, and rushed Brandon out to the car.

I ripped opened the box like some Vinylmation fiend as Brandon started driving back to WL...what did I get?

P1000918.jpg

CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow! Ahhhh, I love him! Definitely not trading him away!

We dropped off some things at the room, and we were kind of hungry again. I was kind of in the mood for pizza, so we went back to Roaring Forks. I got a pizza and Brandon got a cheeseburger, and when we went up to pay, the CM said that we could each get a dessert with the dining plan. We said we knew, but we didn't want anything, and she said "are you sure? You can get anything you want!"

So I said "Can I have a cupcake?" I was expecting her to say no, anything but that, but she said "sure, you can have a cupcake!" :woohoo:

OMG. Have you seen the cupcakes they have at the Wilderness Lodge? S'mores cupcakes? They are crazy!! I grabbed one, and Brandon got something-a brownie, I think-and we went to sit outside and enjoy our lunch, although I had no interest in my pizza anymore, because I couldn't wait to attack that cupcake!

P1000920.jpg

My pizza was really good, and I think Brandon enjoyed his burger, but what I really remember was the cupcake!

P1000921.jpg

It was AMAZING! When you got inside the cupcake, there are actual pieces of melting chocolate bars in the cake! The frosting was perfect, not too sweet, nice and marshmallowy and s'mores-y! Food critic I'm not, but that's the best way I can describe that cupcake! S'mores-y! I can't believe this is the first trip that I experienced Disney cupcakes. I could probably go to Disney and live on popcorn, turkey legs, and cupcakes and be perfectly happy! :cloud9:

We finished our lunch and headed back up to the room. We wanted to just hang out for a little while, watch TV, maybe nap, before we went back out for the night. I think Brandon took a nap, but I just watched some Stacey and took a shower-I was too excited to sleep! We had dinner reservations at 'Ohana and then we would be going to the Magic Kingdom for our second MNSSHP! :woohoo: How can you possibly sleep when you are anticipating all of that awesomeness in one night?

Up next...my Poly! :lovestruc And MNSSHP!

Oh My!! The cupcake looks good!!!

What I can see of the 2nd ornament looks really pretty! I wish I could go during the holidays!!

Great update! Your mornings on the balcony at WL sound so wonderful! :cloud9: YAY for seeing the geyser! That's awesome!

I've never had grated potatoes but they sound delicious!

I love your ornament choices! I haven't bought any ornaments there in the last few trips we've taken, so I'm definitely going to get some in July! :thumbsup2

YAY for getting Jack Sparrow! John went crazy collecting Vinylmations last June, and then he decided to sell some of them. If I'm not mistaken the Jack Sparrow is worth quite a bit of money!

I don't blame you for being too excited to nap- that sounds like an awesome evening you have coming up! :goodvibes

Great minds think a lot - We are both updating tonight! :thumbsup2

That view is spectacular!

The cupcake is spectacular! How did I miss THAT when I stayed at the WL?

And Captain Sparrow is definitely a keeper! :goodvibes

Great morning!

LOL! What did I just say about great minds? You just posted on my TR! :rotfl2:

I almost forgot - cute ornaments and I am totally going to get that glass ornament in Germany if its still there in June!

Oh my goodness! I love the Christmas store. I could spend forever in there, too! Everything is so expensive, though. I still pick out an ornament each trip-it's my thing.

I feel the same way about TrenD. Actually one of my biggest motivators for working out and eating healthy lately has been to fit into non-plus size clothing. So far, I've lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks.

I want to try that s'mores cupcake. I also want to try a magic cookie bar and I think they have them at Roaring Forks. Perhaps Greg and I can make it over to the Wilderness Lodge on our upcoming trip. We'll have a rental car after all.

Beautiful view of the geyser from your balcony. :cloud9:

Why do your updates always make me hungry?! :rotfl: And I literally just finished eating a bowl of ice cream! That breakfast and the cupcake look awfully tasty, though.

Sounds like a nice evening coming up...but when did my Poly become yours?
