"One More Waffle!" An October 2011 TR! *Update 4/24, pg 70-The End!*

LOVE this picture. They look so cute in their costumes. Okay, you went to MNSSHP weeks before I did, how did you wear long pants? I was in short leggings and felt like I was melting?

This! :thumbsup2 I know Disney is a place that caters to families, but that doesn't come at the expense of the adults who enjoy going without kids. I also get so annoyed by the people who show up five minutes before a parade and ask if their kids can go in front of us. If you were sooooo worried about your kid getting to see the parade, why didn't you come find a spot a half-hour ago like I did? :confused3

The parade was AWESOME! I came home and promptly downloaded the Boo to You music (as well as the Hallowishes music), it's catchy stuff! The costumes and makeup on the Haunted Mansion people were unbelievable!

LOL, those pants are actually pants that roll up and turn into capris, and I had them rolled up, so I thought they would be ok...trust me, I was melting! I just really, really hate shorts, it was really hot and I didn't wear shorts all week, because I hate them so much! I'd rather be hot!

Exactly, I don't think just because you don't have kids while watching a parade means you should have to move! I suppose it wouldn't be so annoying if people were nice about it, but the people I encountered were just so rude, it was obnoxious! :confused3

I always have the Boo To You music stuck in my head, it's so fun! :cool1:

Jen, great pictures from the Boo to You Parade...you did awesome. I love the picture of you and Brandon with Mickey and Minnie.

I have to say that you are a better person than me. I would NOT have been able to hold my tongue. As Mark and I have traveled without our kids for the last numerous trips, we are obvioulsy alone when we watch the parades (except the last two years when we were with Cayley and Avery). We have heard more snide remarks from people about how Disney is for the kids and adults shouldn't be sitting where the kids should be sitting, blah blah blah. It is obvious they are talking about us. But I have found a way to get back at them without losing my temper. Once the parade is just about to get to the point where we are sitting, I find another family who has young children who are in the back, and I offer to let the kids come stand or sit in front of me. Perhaps those "unhappy" people will learn to keep their mouths shut the next time. ;)

Thanks! :cool1:

I can't believe how many of you have said that people have made remarks about Disney being for kids, and adults taking up room...this is honestly the first time I've ever encountered that! Maybe people have said things before, but if they did, I must have been in my own world, because I have never heard a word!

I love your idea of how to get back at people who make comments before/during a parade! Ugh, if I only thought of that while I was there, that would have been the perfect solution! I will definitely keep that in mind in case it ever happens again, which I really hope it doesn't! :rotfl:

Great photo with Mickey and Minnie and I agree in that they are such a sweet couple :lovestruc I keep seeing all these pics of Mickey and Minnie dressed up and we got completely different outfits...I can't wait to share the photos when I get to it.

I love the video of the Headless Horseman - great idea and much better then trying to take a photo!

Ugghh at the behaviour of that woman  I agree that everyone has a right to be at the parade (whether you have kids or not shouldn't be an issue) and you sure were nice not to have said anything.

Great pics of the parade :thumbsup2

Thanks! I heard there were 2 sets of Mickey's and Minnie's at the MNSSHP's with 2 different sets of costumes! I love that they do that, so you're surprised when you see them!

Thanks, I love that video too! Brandon loves taking Disney videos!

I'm still a little surprised at how rude this whole family was, but whatever, if that's how they want to act when they don't get their way, that's their problem! I'm sure we were not the last people to have to deal with their attitudes on their trip, and I'm guessing not everyone would have been as nice as Brandon and I were! :rotfl:

So, remember the good ol' days when if I didn't make it onto the first page of your TR I was raging mad? Well, here I am on page 18. *sigh* I'm so disappointed in myself. I was sitting at work today when I came to the realization that I hadn't been on the DIS in over a month and I almost cried. I can't believe I am just now starting your TR! I am SO sorry and I hope you still love me!

The upside to this is that I have a bunch of updates to read before I have to wait for another installment! Yippeeee!

Okay I'm all caught up! That was so much fun! I am bummed I got so far behind, but I loved being able to read so many updates without having to wait for more! :thumbsup2

WOWZA, you guys left early! Kudos to Brandon for getting up without complaint. I don't think John could do that! :rotfl:

Oh my gosh, I can't believe they freaked over his powder. I mean, I guess it's good that they're so careful, but I can imagine how bothersome that must have been when you guys are trying to get to Disney!

My sister always freaks out about getting a blood clot. She's never even been on a plane, but if she's in the car for more than two hours she has to stop every little bit and walk around. Last year at Christmas before we drove to Disney she tried to get me to wear compression socks!

Ohhh, EoS is heavenly. :lovestruc Nice first meal pick!

Don't feel bad, we all get cranky at Disney every now and again. I'm sorry to hear your head was hurting! That's not a fun way to start your trip!

Okay what was up with these women on the Gran Fiesta Tour? Good for them that they've actually been to Mexico, but were they honestly surprised that this ride wasn't as cool as the real thing? I mean really? It's a boat ride with talking birds, ladies. Get over it.

Oh no! I'm so sorry you were feeling so sick! I can totally imagine how sad you must've been. What an awful first evening. Thank goodness it got better the next morning!

Your WL pics are awesome. I'm so bummed we get to stay there, but I am determined to someday!

MNSSHP! :lovestruc I love it so much!

I remember when you texted me about that obnoxious women. Ugh, how rude. I think you remember the sentiments I expressed in my text messages. I would repeat them here but they're not DIS appropriate! ;)

I can't wait for more!!

Awww I love :lovestruc the Halloween parade! It is by far my favorite parade ever. You got some good shots.

I can't believe the way some parents act in front of their children. It was nice of you to be the bigger person and sit so they could see. It isn't their fault their parents are rude and obnoxious. I don't know if I would have handled it that well! :thumbsup2

Great updates! I feel like I get overwhelmed at Disney even when it's not MNSSHP so I can definitely sympathize with you on that one. I'm so sorry that the lady and her family were so rude to you. As other's have stated I don't know what I would have done in that situation. Me and DH always go to Disney without kids because we don't have any, yet ;) So I would be fuming if somebody had said something about Disney being for kids.

I can't to hear about the rest of your trip!

LOL, I texted you when I started so you could be on page 1, but it didn't happen! :rotfl: I get upset when I don't have enough DIS time either, I used to be able to spend hours on the DIS, now I'm lucky if I get 30 minutes! :confused3 Don't worry, I'm just glad you're here now! And of course I still love you, you're my best DIS friend!

Okay I'm all caught up! That was so much fun! I am bummed I got so far behind, but I loved being able to read so many updates without having to wait for more! :thumbsup2

I'm going to reply in orange to all of your comments instead of going back and trying to remember everything! Glad you're all caught up, that must have taken a while!

WOWZA, you guys left early! Kudos to Brandon for getting up without complaint. I don't think John could do that! :rotfl:

I'm surprised he didn't complain, he usually does and it always takes me a long time to actually get him out of bed...I think he was really excited for this trip!

Oh my gosh, I can't believe they freaked over his powder. I mean, I guess it's good that they're so careful, but I can imagine how bothersome that must have been when you guys are trying to get to Disney!

I don't know where my blood clot fear came from! I have to stop and walk around on long car rides too, and when I'm on a plane, I'm constantly moving my legs and feet...I must be really annoying to sit next to! :rotfl: I've actually considered compression socks! But something about them freaks me out!

Ohhh, EoS is heavenly. Nice first meal pick!

Don't feel bad, we all get cranky at Disney every now and again. I'm sorry to hear your head was hurting! That's not a fun way to start your trip!

Ugh, being cranky at Disney is the worst!! And feeling awful at Disney is seriously not fun! I'm just glad it went away by the next moring!

I remember texting you that night, I was trying to so hard to pretend everything was great when really I just knew the night was going to end up horribly because of my migraine! :sad2: I'm glad that was the only night I felt like that, I don't think I could have handled that situation again!

Your WL pics are awesome. I'm so bummed we get to stay there, but I am determined to someday!

I love WL! I'm sure you will stay there someday, don't worry! :goodvibes

MNSSHP! :lovestruc I love it so much!

It was a lot of fun! I just wish it wasn't so crowded, it was pretty crazy that night!

I remember when you texted me about that obnoxious women. Ugh, how rude. I think you remember the sentiments I expressed in my text messages. I would repeat them here but they're not DIS appropriate! ;)

LOL, yeah, I think we both said some non DIS-friendly things about this woman!!

I can't wait for more!!

Thanks! It was a really good parade! I really love the holiday parades, they're both so good, and the music is awesome! :thumbsup2

LOL, if I wasn't at Disney, it might have been a different story! :rotfl: But I did feel bad that the kids might not be able to see, and it wasn't even worth it to cause a scene with these people! It really upset me at the time, though!

Great updates! I feel like I get overwhelmed at Disney even when it's not MNSSHP so I can definitely sympathize with you on that one. I'm so sorry that the lady and her family were so rude to you. I can't to hear about the rest of your trip!

Thanks! I don't do touring plans, but I always have an idea of what I want to do in a park, and MNSSHP was just so confusing at first, I had no idea where to go or what to do! It worked out though, we ended up getting that awesome spot for the parade, and then we went right to the fireworks! :thumbsup2

These people didn't really say anything about Disney just being for kids, but still, it's kind of annoying that people think that adults should move so their kids can see! If someone ever does say something to me about Disney being for kids though, I won't be quiet about that, I will politely inform them that Disney is for all ages! That would really upset me if someone came right out and said that to me, you never know what someone is going through, you know? I wish people would keep their snotty comments to themselves in Disney World. :sad2:

Happy Hallowishes!

9/30, Friday

Once the parade was over, and we went to the bathroom and everything, Brandon and I decided to get some popcorn and a drink and sit down on the sidewalk, right in the middle of the hub, to have a great view of Hallowishes! We had some time before the fireworks started, but it passed quickly, and soon the lights around MK went out and the fireworks were beginning!

I always say I'm going to not take a lot of pictures of the fireworks and just enjoy them, but that never happens! So here are a few of my favorites:

P1000304.jpg

P1000305.jpg

P1000308.jpg

P1000310.jpg

P1000317.jpg

Needless to say, I LOVED Hallowishes! It was everything I hoped it would be! :lovestruc I loved all the Nightmare before Christmas music, I'm so obsessed with that movie, so hearing it throughout the park, and then in the fireworks show was awesome! When I got home from this trip, I found out that Jack Skellington narrates the fireworks in Disneyland, and Zero actually flies around the castle there! Looks like I need to go to Disneyland for Halloween someday! :thumbsup2

When the fireworks were over, I wanted to go to Adventureland to check the line for Jack Sparrow, and this is where it became obvious that this was a sold out party! It was INSANE trying to get to Adventureland! We tried to get over to the bridge that crosses directly into Adventureland, but couldn't, so we went with the flow of people to cross into Liberty Square, but it was just wall to wall people, with no one moving! People were just pushing and shoving their way through, it was awful! I said to Brandon that this would go a lot smoother if the people going to Liberty Square would go to the right and the people leaving would go to the left...and as soon as I said that, CM's started telling people to do that! :confused3

Finally, after what seemed like forever, we made it through Liberty Square, took the shortcut through Fronteirland, and checked the line for Jack Sparrow...waste of time, it was still ridiculously long! Oh well!

P1000318.jpg

I knew we had to do Haunted Mansion at some point during the night, so I suggested we walk over that way. There was a bit of a line, so somehow I convinced Brandon to go on...It's a Small World!

P1000319.jpg

Brandon cannot stand IASW! He told me after our first trip that he would never go on again, and hasn't been back on since, until now!

I have to admit, it's not my favorite, but it's fun, it's nostagic, and in the name of everything classic in the entire world, how can you NOT do IASW? :rotfl:

I really enjoyed IASW this time! Yeah the song is a little annoying, but it's so pretty in there! So colorful!

P1000325.jpg

Brandon still can't stand this ride, but hey, at least he went on it with me! :thumbsup2

Once we were finished with IASW, we went back to Haunted Mansion, and I think it was a 20 minute wait or so, so we got in line!

P1000329.jpg

I absolutely LOVE how creepy HM is during Halloween, all the fog and the lights make it so much scarier!

We went through the new queue, since it was our first time seeing it, and I told myself I wasn't touching anything! I was just getting over bronchitis, so I figured my immune system was not at it's best, so I didn't feel like being covered in germs! But Brandon played with everything! I actually had to tell him to hurry up a few times so we could actually get on the ride!

HM was awesome, such a perfect MNSSHP attraction! I loved the new ending, too!

On our way out, we noticed the Photopass magic shot they were doing, so we jumped in line for that!

Photo0019FourBySix.jpg

I can't stand these pictures! Notice how Brandon is looking half scared? Well in the other picture, I do the scared pose and he's just standing there smiling! So we're both doing the opposite poses in the 2 pictures they took! I should post the other one, but I never uploaded it photobucket for some reason!

After HM, we walked through Fantasyland, and went on Winnie the Pooh, which I love, and there was no wait for! The new queue to that was cute too, but again, I just walked right through, not wanting to touch anything!

We went through Tomorrowland, and I kept asking Brandon what he wanted to do, and he kept saying he didn't care.

P1000331.jpg

I was getting kind of tired, and I could tell he was too, so I suggested that we just go back to WL before the party was over, so maybe we could get on the boat without too much of a wait. Brandon agreed, so we made our way to Main Street.

I wanted to stop in the Emporium before we left, because I wanted to buy a Vinylmation. I kept reading about people having so much fun trading these in previous TR's, so I wanted to give it a try. I knew I wanted a Buzz Lightyear Vinylmation, so I chose a Toy Story box. I don't remember why, but I gave it to Brandon and he paid for it, and I went outside and waited for him. But when he came out, he told me he bought me a surprise...I looked in the bag, and it was a Tinker Bell pin that said MNSSHP 2011, because he knew I wanted something that said that on it, but I couldn't find anything I liked! :lovestruc I wanted to open my Vinylmation right there too, but I figured I should wait til we got back to the room.

We made our way out of MK

P1000332.jpg

and I stopped for a few minutes to take a few pictures before we left:

P1000334.jpg

P1000338.jpg

and we went towards the boats...where we saw a HUGE crowd waiting for the WL boats! We went down and got in line, and Brandon started complaining that it was going to take forever...so I suggested the buses. We have always avoided the buses, since we rent a car, but now it was either wait for the boat, or check out the bus line, so we opted for the bus.

There were only 2 families waiting in the WL bus line! We only waited a few minutes before a bus pulled up and we got on. I have to admit, I was ridiculously excited to finally be riding a Disney bus! I'm a dork, I know, you guys have probably been on the buses 1,000 times, but to me, for some reason, it was a big deal!

It was nice, sitting in the cool, dark bus, listening to that Disney voice talk to us about going to the Wilderness Lodge. It only took a few minutes to get there, and soon, we were back in our room!

Finally I decided to open my Vinylmation! I said to Brandon, right before I opened it "I hope I don't get Big Baby."

What do you think I got?

IMG_0860.jpg

Big Baby, of course! Well, at least I had one to trade tomorrow in the parks!

Up next...3 parks in one day! (Also, a mini-PTR update for our December trip!)

Glad you liked Hallowishes. I had forgotten how cool that show really was until we saw it on our trip. I have never seen the Nightmare Before Christmas (it just seems really strange to me) so I didn't realize some of the music was from there. LOL.

Boo on getting Big Baby! Why is it that you get the vinylmation you DON'T want? I hate that! Hopefully you were able to make a good trade.

Jen, I'm so happy that you liked Hallowishes. I think it is spectacularand love it as much if not a tad more than Wishes.

You did better with the attractions than us at your MNSSHP event, we had a lot of wait times (more about that in my TR).

I still haven't figured out the fascination with the Vinylmations, but glad you seem to be in it.

We always rent a car and drive to the parks. But I can say that we thoroughly enjoyed our bus rides in September from OKW.

Great update! I hope to go to MNSSHP someday! I loved the buses for WL. When leaving MK we never had a full bus. Most of the time it was empty.
I had no idea people traded Vinylmation! I got one on our last trip and it was a random mystery box and I have no idea what it is! I no longer have the box, so I am wondering how the trading thing works....

Your pictures of Hallowishes and the Pirates sign are amazing!

I'm glad you finally got to ride a bus. Little things like that make me excited too ;)

I totally agree that Big Baby is creepy. Matt loved him but I just don't get it. Thankfully we had our trading game so I didn't have to see him for long. Hopefully you get a good replacement :goodvibes:

HalloWishes is the best isn't it? I love the NBC music portion of it too, esp Oogie Boogies bit :teeth:

It's a shame it was so busy for you guys, but it looked like you had a great time and score on the quiet bus ride home :thumbsup2

That's pretty awesome that the Hallowishes in DL is even MORE Nightmare Before Christmas themed! I would love to see Zero flying around the castle! :lovestruc

This was really your first time on a Disney bus...sorry...motorcoach?!? Well I'm glad you had a good experience! They're usually pretty great, we're always using them on our trips!

Love all the pictures especially of the castle. Glad you enjoyed Hallowishes.

I :lovestruc HalloWishes, too, and your photos are great! I love how even riding a bus is magical when you're at Disney!

Oh how I miss Hallowishes but I don't ever remember the crowds being as crazy as you describe. I'm with you though that a trip to Disneyland to see the Halloween decorations there would be GREAT! Love the photos! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to finally get to see Hallowishes! Everyone raves about that show and I love your pictures :thumbsup2

Even though you and Brandon are making different faces () I still love your HM magic PP shot!

Vinylmations! Chris and I are collectors! Of course, we're not made of money so we don't have tons of them but I'd say we have about 25! Friends of ours were just down in WDW last month and bought us the bride and groom ones! But thats the cool thing about the vinyls, you can just trade if you get one you don't like...like the big baby haha I hope you eventually found Buzz!

I checked out all your pics this morning and I think they turned out really well. Nice job. I think I have to sit myself right in the hub and take some firework pictures. I have honestly never done that. I have taken them from so many vantage points, but never the hub. I think I will try NOT using my distance lens for one. Nice work, Jen!

Glad you had a fun time at the party, despite the sold out crowd. I love your magic shot in front of the HM. Was the story teller lady out there? She is so creepy!

It is hard to not take photos of the fireworks, isn't it? I love the shots you took...they came out really well.

I never got round to watching Nightmare before Christmas...I'll have to watch it one day.

Ugh at it being so busy! Yay at riding IASW - I loved that ride. Good call on getting the bus instead of the boat and lol at getting the only Vinylmation you didn't want!

I'm caught up now. I wonder how long it would have taken me to figure out that I was missing this if you hadn't have told me.

Sorry to hear about the migraine. I've never had one, but it sounds like it's unpleasant, especially at Disney.

Wilderness Lodge looks beautiful! I've never even visited there, but the lobby looks really cool.

The Boo to You Parade was so awesome! I loved the Headless Horseman. Those people behind you do sound annoying. I would have been tempted to stand, too. We had a whiny kid behind us during the Boo to You Parade. And no, it wasn't Carter or Landon. Something about the best Disney parades seems to bring out the worst in people.

One thing I've learned about Vinylmation trading- Never open a Toy Story box thinking "anything but Big Baby".:rotfl:

Your Christmas trip sounds fun! AP's are the best! I'm still working on a plan for us to go see the Lights this year. I always find a Christmas without all the Disney stuff sort of sad.
