OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

So I have an odd question...my hubby surprised me and my daughter by booking a Beach Club Christmas Trip!! to stay GV CL. But today for my birthday, he gave me an AP as my gift!!

I was planning to use the IPO for some ressies since our 180 day is like next week, but what would happen to the ressies they book if I end up re-booking a CL room on an AP discount if one were to turn up...(AP discount would be much better discount than a free dining offer for our family)...

I am afraid that when we rebook under the AP and cancel the other package that they might cancel our ADRs...

Anyone have any experience with this??

Thanks for your response! I am nervous about taking my two very energetic boys, but we will go off of their schedule and make the best of it! We live close to Sesame Place, so they have had practice at a small park, waiting in lines, seeing shows/characters. The biggest concern at the moment for me is dining! We were looking into Cape May Cafe for bfast, but my DH thinks $60 for breakfast is ridiculous. Although, I love the idea of them having a Mickey Waffle to eat!!! Is that offered at BC Marketplace? Off to check that menu out.

Still anyone out there know if my DH and I ordered the buffet at Captain's Grill if my under 2 twins could eat off our plates or would I need to order their own?

I believe the standard rule is if a child under two eats off an adult plate they are free, if you get them thier own order then they are charged so fixing them their own plate at a buffet will cause them to be charged putting bits of food on thier high chair from your plate is free.

ps we loved the CG buffet and as an added bonus they will custom make eggs/omelets for you even though they are not "on" the buffet, you just have to ask the waitress to put in a request.

I actually asked one of the managers if I could do my job in a wheelchair or scooter and they said no. So, since I don't want to give up my greeter job, this foot better get fixed. Has anybody dealt with heelspurs here with any luck? The $500 orthotics that took two months to make haven't helped, then the oral medication to help the swelling didn't help, the cortisone shot in my heel Thursday didn't help. He wants me back in two weeks for another shot which hurt soooo bad he better convince me a second one might do more than the first (which did nothing) or that's not happening. Bob wants me to just quit the job since my heel doesn't bother me until I work and then only after 3 hours or so ... then it starts acting up and by 4 hours I have to hit the pills. Man it's a pain getting old!

I have spurs and one is on the back of my heal and wrapped in my achilles. they used a new technique on me called Radio Frequency Ablation (Topaz Surgery). Basically then do a series of 'punctures' in the heel (mine was on the back but it was pioneered to be used on the bottom of the heel) and send a laser burn through it. It helps the muscle release from the spur and allows it to stretch out so that is quits shortening up. I had the surgery on Friday morning and was back at work Tuesday. No physical therapy required. Very painful for a day or two after the surgery but just tender for a week or so. Twilight sedation, was in and out of out patient surgery in about 2 hours, some pain killers afterwards for the worst of the pain and then I had to wear my walking boot (which I had already been wearing for 3 months) for two weeks after surgery. It can be a tempory relief and to tell the truth mine lasted about 9 months before I started feeling a little like it was coming back but before surgery I was at a 9 and to this day two years later I'm only at a 3 on my worst days. Okay maybe a 5 or 6 at Disney LOL but just an ordinary day it's not bad. My other foot is now having problems and I'm totally convinced that the Topaz is so much better than major surgery, 6 weeks in a cast then 6 weeks PT. So if it becomes a major problem I'm totally doing Topaz on the other foot as well.

A friend of mine from work had this problem too, she started going to a chiropractor and he used this comb/rake tool on her. She said it was pretty painful right after but it has been the only thing that has helped her! Might be a better option than surgery :)

Changing the rate on your reservation or otherwise will not effect your dining reservations at all. They will all stay the same as they are not tied to your resort reservation.

What a wonderful gift! And Happy Birthday!:wizard:

I hope you did better than we did!!!!!!!!

A54 and A55 and that's with Early Bird. Oh well. It is a direct flight to Chicago and we're not in a rush once we get off the plane, so if we end up in the back, it won't be terrible...and with A's, hubby and I will still be together.

You won't be in the back with an A boarding. Only 39 people will go ahead of you (give or take a few if you get some business select people). We got messed up with B1&2 because family boarding goes between A&B. And on a flight to Orlando, I am sure there will be plenty!

But you're going to Disney - so you already win. :lmao:

Going to Chicago, there could be several Business Select people flying on business mid-week. One plus to keep that number low though is that we're flying out of Providence and not Boston. Boston to Chicago would probably have a full business select group.

Just booked for 6 days at the Yacht Club last week in September with a friend from work! She hasn't been to Disney in over 20 years, can't wait for the start of the F&W and to stay here for the first time :goodvibes

I can echo this response.

On our March trip we were booked with a dining package and made all our ADRs. We then changed it to a room only reservation to get a better discount - this meant cancelling the package and rebooking the room only. All our ADRs remained intact with no problems.

Ouch Teena! I second the chiro option. I actually called the IPO the other day for a chiro recommendation and they raved about a chiro in Claremont - not sure how close that is to you but I have his name if you want it. Good Lord woman you beat a major illness and now you are letting a heel spur interrupt you?:goodvibes But from someone that has one, ouch I know they can flare up painfully. I actually am wearing a footsleeve all week because of one and it really does help...

I'm actually in Clermont ... I know who you talked to and my insurance doesn't cover that doctor.

Teena,
I hope that you get better soon. Heal spurs are so painful and a huge inconvenience. I really hope that you find relief soon!!!

Thanks! We have had A 16 before. But there were still a couple of Business Select folks in 1-15, so we weren't the very first. I did just switch from an earlier flight to this flight a couple of weeks ago and I guess tons of people must have purchased EBCI before I did, which pushed us down the list. I am not worried, since its just 2 of us, so I know we will be together in the middle/back of the plane. We are just so eager to get off the plane and get moving that I hate waiting for everyone else to unload and go! :rotfl:

I have not flown SW since EBCI has been an option. I did not select it. Am I going to be sorry? There are 4 of us but our girls are teens so we can break up into 2 groups of 2. I will get boarding passes ASAP. Can I add the EBCI now? How much is it? We have a plane change both ways do we have to pay for each leg of the flight?

I rarely fly, but when I do it is usually SW and I always do the EBCI because I like the peace of mind of having the boarding pass already taken care of, especially this last time because it was the kid's first flight and they would not want to be separated. I know you can add it after you have already bought tickets, and it $10 a person each way, so for my family of 4 it was $80 for the round trip. I don't know about if you have a connecting flight, but I hope this helped a little!

Year before last when I was on SW to/from Orlando and booked EBCI the $10 ea way covered the entire flight, I believe and I changed planes coming and going. I did it because one of my connections was pretty tight timewise, so I wanted to be able to sit in the front and get off plane 1 really fast to scoot to whatever gate plane 2 was @.
Re: Coral Reef booking (I think Steph1 was mentioning) I tried getting that (and Le Cellier) Sun @ 4 am west coast time and was told by the CM on the phone that those 2 weren't weren't loaded into the system for booking yet, so @ least it's not a situation of no tables left because they are all booked, rather it's a situation of no one can book yet.
As an aside, in reading the additions to the YC/BC "Be our Guest" list, isn't that also the future name of the new restaurant in the MK expansion?

I just thought of something else. Last year, we could not book Coral Reef for December until a little later, because they are one of the restaurants that participate in the Candlelight Processional packages. Maybe that's why nothing was avaialable? So, just keep checking and eventually (hopefully) some dates/times will open up. That's what we did last year and it worked out fine. We'll probably run into the same problem as we book our ADRs next week.

You're so smart! In a subsequent email, the Concierge CM said exactly that...they hadn't "dropped" the tables yet because of the Candlelight Processional. So I'm hopefully we'll get it!

Hope it works out for you. Tried to get Ohana's this morning for Dec. 1 and nothing available except for an 8:00pm seating. We'll be on ME on Sunday morning at 5:00am so we are going to pass on this. Kind of bummed about it. But we'll do what everyone else does, call back constantly and see if anything opens up.

Now, see, 8pm is a perfect time for our family. We regularly eat that late or later!

As a matter of fact, about an hour after I made the ADRs, DH came home from work and I told him what we had. He seemed less than thrilled with Boma's :(, and then he expressed dismay that we couldn't get Rose & Crown. (Before I knew that it was a matter of the tables not being opened yet). He then asked about Ohana, which we'd done as our "parents' night out" when we last went. I told him I thought it would be a good idea to mix things up and that's why I picked Boma, which was similar. He replied, "Actually, the only two I was really hoping for was Rose & Crown and Ohana. I really enjoyed them both last time."

Argh! He couldn't have said this a month ago. :rolleyes1 BUT, thanks to the awesome IPO staff, we now have Ohana's on Friday (with the whole family--should be fun!) at 8pm, and I'm hopeful we'll get R&C for our "night out." I had to give up Captain's Grille, but we'll just have to do that next time.

Incidentally, I'm very happy with the concierge so far--their response times have been wonderfully fast!

Come on along! I only used 3 of our 4 allowed bags (I probably could have gotten away with 2, but a gal's gotta have her shoes :rolleyes1)

Ha, ha! I'll take dibs on that 4th suitcase if no one else has it! Have a great trip!!

For the briefest of moments, I thought you were trying to get a 4am seating. :rotfl: Thanks for the tip--I hope we both get it!

As for Be Our Guest, I didn't realize they were putting a restaurant in there. Since B&TB is my favorite Disney movie, there is clearly some research that I must do, lol!
