So I have come across a little problem that is bothering me about applying for the CP... if anyone knows the answer that would be great... because I'm REALLY nervous about it

So last year after returning from my first CP I got a job at The Disney Store...I worked there for like 5-6 months; and didn't exactly have a great time there.. I hardly got hours and only received "called ins", sadly I missed a couple call ins and was yelled at about it... but I never got written up or anything. After Christmas I had no hours for the next 10 days and they let a lot of people go... I hated the managment by this time and just never went back. They never called me back or anything to this day. That was the end of December..and now this is July.

SO, I'm wondering if this will effect my chances of getting in to Disney World again? =/. I'm really concerned because Disney Store was nothing like working in Actual Disney World where I had no problems at all. My evaulation at the end of the program was great.

So by the time I apply for the CP it will be like 9ish months since the Disney Store problems.

Will this effect me?

It just makes me nervous cuz I missed a couple of those "call ins" , but like I said I never got like written up or anything, just told about it. And then after Christmas they let a lot of people go and my schedule for the next 2 weeks had 0 hours. So I just left. And I haven't heard from them since. The management was sooo bad. I would be SO upset if this dumb job , effects my chances. I hope I'll be able to explain it to them if they ask; before they make a decision.

I honestly don't think that job would affect your chances at all. A similar thing happened to me, I was working at a Walgreens and I didn't attend a mandatory meeting I was never told about and the manager got mad. They couldn't fire me so they just started giving me 0 hours even though I kept asking about it and they eventually just took me out of their system. After that I was worried it would affect my chances of getting a job but I've had several jobs since and have never ever had a problem. So I wouldn't worry about it! I'm sure you'll get in, especially since you've worked for them before and they didn't have any issues with you :)

That's good to hear. The only thing that keeps bothering me though is that I was still workking for the Disney Company. Is Disney Store related to The Walt Disney World Resort? Or is it seperate? Because when I started working at Disney Store they gave me the SAME ID number I had in Disney WORLD...
hmmm

I sure hope everything will be ok.
I would be sooo heartbroken if the dumb disney store ruins my chances...

Even though the Disney Store and Disney World are under the same company now (for the longest time the Disney Store was run by The Children's Place) - I think they're two totally different things. And as long as your review at the end of your program was good, I think you should be okay. They know you work well in their system, and if it comes up- just let them know that it was a totally different type of management and things just didn't work out.

I hope it all works out for you!

Also, I don't think they'd have any way of knowing what happened unless they actually called the Disney Store or you told them. I never bring up Walgreens and I've never gotten asked about it lol. I'm not sure if it matter if they're the same company but I don't think it would.

If you simply stopped showing up for shifts with Disney Store, it is highly likely you were seperated from the Company with a "No" rehire status, which would preclude you from further employment with any and all segments of The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated Companies, including the Walt Disney World Resort. Both areas are part of the same Disney Organisation, and do share a common HR system.

It is possible to appeal such status, but can only take place after you've lodged an application for employment, and is based on a multitude of factors, including projected labour demands.

You can determine your current rehire status by contacting Florida-Site Casting Services on 407 828-1000. They'll be able to give your further steps on how to proceed from there

If I were to guess, if they just "let you go", it would seem it might be something similar to when someone who is seasonal doesn't complete their required number of shifts/hours per year and is "let go". As far as I know (from knowing others in that situation) it doesn't affect you, as you aren't necessarily terminated with a rehire/no rehire status, you are just released from the company. I know it's pretty much the same thing, but termination sounds so much more scary and bad, versus releasing. I'm sure there's been many instances where people can't come back to work for various reasons. I'm sure it's still considered termination, but it's not as serious. If that makes sense?

glendalais is correct. The Disney Store is part of the same company. Disney Store falls under the Consumer Products Division and was originally started by Disney. In 2004 the Stores were sold to Hoops Retail (the children's place) for only a brief period of time and eventually the Disney Company purchased the stores back-scaling back the number of stores they had.

If they did in fact put you as "no rehire/not eligibile for rehire" it will in fact affect your attempt to work within the company again. There was a very nice young lady who worked at our store for a period of time but eventually stopped showing up. The manager took her off the scheduled and I guess put her status as "no rehire". She tried a year later to apply to Disney World and was not hired. She contacted the store manager who did inform her of her status. She was never able to work for the company again.

It does depend on the circumstances but you would have to appeal if your status is not eligible for rehire.

I feel like this situation is different because she didn't just stop showing up for work....they weren't giving her any hours. So it's not like she was scheduled for a shift and then didn't show up. You should probably check before you apply to the CP and if they did put you in as no rehire I would try and fight that because that wouldn't be fair, you didn't do anything wrong. Good luck! I'm sure everything is fine though! :)

Oh, how I wish young people would learn to give two weeks notice and properly resign before quitting any job, whether it's flipping burgers at McDonald's or trading stocks on Wall Street!

I can't speak for the Disney Company, of course, but where I work the described scenario would prevent the employee from being eligible for rehire for a period of five years, not just at our location, but anywhere within the company. It wouldn't matter that she wasn't being given any hours-she would still be expected to write a letter of resignation and give two weeks notice. In the absence of available hours, however, it's possible they would waive the two weeks notice requirement at the time the letter was submitted.

In this case though , since the OP doesn't know for sure that she was terminated due to being a no-call/no-show, it's worth it to apply for her desired position. Wish you well.

If that is the case and they did put me on no rehire you better believe I'm going to put up a fight... because the way I was treated in that job... WoW.. I should have did something about it a LONG time ago...

I got hardly any training on anything but register
When it was time to stock the store I didn't know where anything was or how they wanted it.
The Assistant Manager made up her own rules as she went along and yelled at me for the stupidest things such as, "Not wearing a watch to know my shift was over." WOW I was NEVER told that was required.
She treated me really bad, and gave me 0 hours towards the end.

Yes, I should have told them I quit.. that's the only thing I'm guilty of, but they pushed me to that level. My anxiety to go to work was very uncalled for. Sleepless nights...Sweaty palms, pounding heart...

I NEVER felt that way when working in Disney World...

So I'm ready to fight.

I am sorry to hear that your experience was not very good at all. I am curious, which store were you at? A bad management team can definitely have an impact on your work experience.

I loved both stores I worked at and there were definitely some different rules from one store to another and different management styles as well. I had to learn to go with the flow.

When I left the stores just before they were sold to Hoops, I was asked to come in to sign the termination papers where I was able to view my rehire status - eligible for rehire. I was also asked to return my Cast ID.

Since you were not given hours and did not show up, I suspect they listed you as a no show and therefore could have possibly listed you as "not eligible for rehire". Regardless of how you were treated, it is never a good idea to stop showing up for work. I used to tell all my people this when I was the hiring manager for a restaurant I worked at. My advice was always the same...never ever burn any bridges...it can come back to bite you.

If at all possible, you might go back to your store and talk with the manager. Maybe the old manager might not even be there. In any case, it is your right to find out your rehire status and I would definitely ask. Then you can contact Disney's HR if you find you are not eligible for rehire. Remember that it is going to be your word against your manager's. I would keep the focus on the lack of hours rather than lack of training or how you were treated. No hours is an easy thing to document, the rest is all subjective.

In the future, regardless of how the work experience is, try to always leave on good terms if you can. You will be happy you did that later when looking for other employment.

I worked at the store in Chicago Ridge Mall, Chicago Ridge, IL.

I know it was my own fault to just leave like that and I regret it, I really do because Disney means everything to me. But oh well; if I can't go back to Disney this year I will just have to wait.

Does no rehire last forever?
OR how long until you can be hired again?
