Oh what a horrible trip!!!! Now for something completely different-Final blast ......

Just shows that there is something for everyone in Disney World. We spend a lot of time at Rafiki's. Bella likes it, and Brooklynn loves it. While hundreds are in line at Everest, we are enjoying seeing an animal procedure, petting a gator, or learning more about sea turtles. For a teacher, it is a gold mine, and it has a nice gift shop where I can get things for my classroom.

The deal on the Rafiki's/Conservation Station, as I understand it, is that the entire area is called Rafiki's Planet Watch. Conservation Station, Affection Section, and all the other 'stop spots' along the way are all individual parts of that.

North American Male

You seriousy had me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: on this one. :thumbsup2

Great update; I am really going to miss not getting to AK this trip...I really like that park.

You got a great pic of the gorilla especially since the only one you saw.

Rafiki's Planet Watch......where you can get the scoop on poop. :lmao:

I adore that 'mingo! I so want one.

That's amazing that you were able to spot that elusive North American Male!

So you took the World's Slowest Train Ride, huh? Didn't see that one coming.

I'll admit it, the North American Male joke made me laugh. And where is the Money Tree? I've never seen that before. With my luck, all of its fruit would be in yen.

Maybe they need a part two for those going number two. :lmao:

My Marvelous money tree is in my office. I indeed did purchase it and I will let you know when the 20 dollar bills start coming in. ;) But I have a feeling you may see updates from Marv more frequently than I will see real money from that tree.

that would be funny.

i wouldnt count on it...his updates are about as frequent as pigs flying.:)

I am sure someone came up with the idea to do the exams in front, behind glass instead of behind closed doors for the public. Soemtimes it is a treat.

and sometimes you get way more than you bargain for.:scared:

on our one year anniversary trip, they had a cheeta in there that was hit by a car. well wasnt bad watching them work on him till they turned him around and you had a full view of the fur/skin missing from his jaw down his neck...alot of people walked away when that popped up on the screen.

Me either! But then again we had the worlds slowest train and a shut down train, not an experience I ever care to repeat, I'm still traumatized though feel bad I kept Mary Ellen from it, I could've sucked it up. Lol.

That is a nice specimen of North American Male! :thumbsup2 Glad you got a picture, I here they are elusive at times.

I am so happy I am not as far behind agai nas I thought I would be.

I think I'm caught up -

Cute Meerkat pics - the American Male - well, you find them everywhere., :rotfl2:

I am thinking the real name for the Rafiki area - is "Trick some guests into taking the train to nowhereland and leave them there - don't come back and get them until they are all laying on the platform asleep from boredom." I mean - the posters in the bathroom explaining dinosaur poop - seems desperate to me.. just sayin' :rolleyes1 (not because we had an experience where the return train never came back to get us or anything...)

Nice buy on the money tree - I had one and I killed it! :lmao: How is yours doing?

Rafiki's Planet Watch gets no love.... The slow train and the remoteness of the whole area is great in theory but it is time consuming. I really wish they could and would post the medical exams and maybe other stuff that is going on there and maybe more people would take the ride.

As for my money tree. My office is SSOOO hot in the winter- Most mornings when I open up it is 87F  It could not take the heat and yup it bit the big one. :sad2:

Oh cool, I never got to see a surgery there. Although I'm kind of squeamish so I'm not sure I could actually stay in the same room! :rotfl:
Training the meerkat? How interesting, to do what? I watched some cms training one of the tiny deer (can't remember what they're called!) to walk onto a scale. It was for easier vetting. Pretty neat!

I see CMs in enclosures all the time and sometimes they are doing some work on the landscaping and sometimes they training. Could just be acclimation to teh surroundings or even sometimes they "kidnap" one for an exam.

That explains it pretty well. I knew it had some sections but did it open under another name? I was reading all ears on AK and the different names and changes over the years.

I get back there when I have a feeling and time I guess. Not every trip but every few.

I have to get my FOLK fix.... Just in case the rumors of the show going away or at least being suspended are true.

I love the scoop on poop. I remember the reaction from a boy standing at the display of poop table and when he found out what it was he moved back .... fast. :lmao:

I have the mingo antenna topper. Helped me find my car in parking lots.

There is! It's about $8, but handier than a book, IMO!

Great pictures, love the money tree! I've never noticed that one. :thumbsup2

$8 not sure I would be able to use it better than a book but maybe....

Money trees are in Mombasa in Africa.

So you took the World's Slowest Train Ride, huh? Didn't see that one coming.

I'll admit it, the North American Male joke made me laugh. And where is the Money Tree? I've never seen that before. With my luck, all of its fruit would be in yen.

It is a slow train ride but if your feet are tired.... it is nice to have the break.

I am glad you chuckled.... ad my money tree in Mombasa the shop in africa before the safari. Yup I killed mine, well I will blame the almost 90F office

that would be funny.

I am really slacking here- need to get an update up.

Ohhh I guess you can't pick your emergencies... I guess that would be pretty gruesome. I would watch though... :upsidedow

Me either! But then again we had the worlds slowest train and a shut down train, not an experience I ever care to repeat, I'm still traumatized though feel bad I kept Mary Ellen from it, I could've sucked it up. Lol.

After your experience, I would probably stay away for a while.

Some of those NAM just play hard to get. They are hard to train though... :lmao: ;)

Got to give Pat a BUMP!!!!

Thanks Rosie. Playing some catch up myself.

So I see you were on the boards today and I decided to check, just in case there was an update, you know!

First I want to apologize for the slowness of this TR. Life just has been busy and trying to fit time in for eveything has been a challenge. Somedays either I catch up or work on a post. More often than not lately I find enough time to catch up and feel guilty if I can't keep up like I want to. :headache:

When I left you I was heading ....

Down to Camp Mickey Minnie for you guessed it …..

When this little girl was asked where she was from, she said

“My house” :lmao:

After the show I had to cool off with a new treat- the frozen banana:laughing:

IMG_5202.jpg

What did I think of it???? It was cold but the banana was a bit too ripe. :confused3

Over by the tree of life and the kangaroos.
Because he can

Nah, don't apologize. Stuff happens. As much as we hate to admit it, real life is more important than the DISBoards.

Boy, that is a weird position.

GET OFF MY LAWN! :rotfl2:

So you finally update and I have no pictures and a small chance of getting in any DIS with pictures today. Figures! But I'll be back!

I was just saying the same thing on Capt. O's thread....I can update or keep updated, but not both. (And maybe not even either.)

Down to Camp Mickey Minnie for you guessed it …..

I did guess it. ::yes::

Just to prove I actually attempt photos of other performers.

Are the monkeys even on-stage at this point of the show? I didn't think so.

Because he can

Only you Pat, would come along at this moment to get this picture. ;)
