Upgrading from 3 day CA Resident Hopper Ticket to Imagine Magic Key

I have 1 day left on my 3 day CA Resident Hopper Ticket (paid $235 for it on a third party website I think with a promo code vs the $249) and I'm thinking of upgrading to the Imagine Magic Key which is $600.

If you upgrade and want to pay in full, is it an additional $365 dollars? $600-$235=$365?

I know you can upgrade as long as I didn't use up the 3 day ticket so if say I go to Disneyland next on May 15 and buy the upgrade the day before is the Imagine Magic Key good for a full year from May 15 2026-May 15, 2027, or is it from the day I used the first ticket which was in February? I know there are many blackout days like the weekends, holiday times, and June and July.

Thank you

Your magic key will be backdated to the first day you used your CA resident hopper ticket, so February. I don't know for sure what Disney will credit toward the magic key; it will depend on how their systems are set up these days. You will either be credited the $235 actually paid or the $249 "list" price. When you upgrade your ticket, any currently held reservations will be wiped out and you will have to secure new ones. You may have just plucked May 15 out of the air as an example case, but I will point out that May 15 is blocked out for Imagine so you wouldn't be able to get a reservation to go. If you really want to go on May 15, go to the park for the day first and then upgrade to magic key when you are done with the day's activities but before official park closing time.

TY. This is helpful . I thought you had to upgrade before you show up for your 3rd day. Didn't know you could actually do it at the park on your last day.
