Oh, Just A Few GALLONS of Pixie Dust! - A July/August 2012 TR

Haha, your Full House references had me cracking up!!! I can't help but thinking about that episode whenever I'm inside the GF. Especially John Stamos playing the piano. How rude of him to miss your visit. :lmao:
(I also think of Boy Meets world when I'm in Epcot, but that's not nearly as popualr as Full House.:rotfl:)

Your pictures of the bridge look great. I could probably take a little staycation to the Contemporary and not even leave the resort, except maybe take a few monorail rides. The whole resort just looks awesome. I've shown your photos to Alex, and now we both have the resort on our "to stay at one day" list. :thumbsup2

I totally get how you felt at Chef Mickey's! Food is usually number one on my list, but if a character is near.... NO WAY!

Love your Donald Bow! So cute! I'm definitely ordering more soon!

GFla looks gorgeous as usual :) It's so fun to just walk around the grounds like that!

Can't wait to hear about MK!!!

Like... EXACTLY. HAHA.

Thank you! Ahhh I really want to order some more. I actually have a list of ones that I want. They're all so cute!

Oh definitely girl. ;) It was a lot of fun! I hope I get to stay there someday!

I'll probably update tomorrow!

We're loving the videos here! Any Disney we can get is good!

Awww, Chef Mickeys. We really enojyed outraelves there and and can't wait to get back. I have 2 adr's there in Nov, breakfast and dinner, so we should have it covered...:rotfl2:

I vaguely remember the Full House episode your talking about, it's been so long. I should find reruns somewhere, I think Kadence would really enjoy the show. That and Family Matters! Love the Urkele!

I just want to ride the Monorail around the complete loop, is that weird?:lmao:

YAYYY thank you! I'm glad!

OH that's awesome! I wanted to go for breakfast! In general, I enjoy breakfast buffets MUCH more than dinner buffets. I bet it'll be great!

Oh my goodness I think she'd LOVE Full House! It was my favorite show growing up... and still is one of them! Hahha oh Urkel... that show got so weird towards the end!

Um, nope! Not weird at all. I really wanted to do that! I actually probably would have if my trip had been a little longer. The monorail is just so awesome it's hard to resist!

Looks like you guys had lots of fun! So, basically what your saying with all your BLT pics is that there is absolutely no bad views... Lol. I really want to take the time to explore the Grand Floridian. The Disney episode of Full House was my favorite too...also for obvious reasons! :) The Grand Floridian is my dream resort mainly because of Full House haha. Excited to see how you spend the EMH at MK!!!

Hahah yes, that is exactly what I'm saying! You literally cannot go wrong! Hopefully one day you'll get a chance to do that! I know what you mean! It used to be mine, but now that I know about all of them, it isn't. I still love it though and would ADORE staying there!

RL thing, I'm @quirkyinwi from Twitter, so this is me on the DIS, yo! :)

Anyway, back to Full House...

So, I watched those 2 episodes AGAIN before we went to Disney last year (and so did my brother). It was only in adulthood that I wondered how he could afford to stay at the Grand Floridian and also who's parent allows them to just fly across the country on a whim to see their girlfriend. My parents would have told me to suck it up!

I love the retro-ness of re-watching those episodes. Like I tweeted to you, my brother and I stalked the piano, Jesse/Becky's room AND Danny/Vicki's table at Coral Reef. No shame, no shame.....:rotfl2:

Yay! So glad to see you on here, and it looks like you are officially all caught up! :woohoo:

Exactly! Mine too! You know what's even worse? The Boy Meets World episode! I mean, he's only coming from Pennsylvania but he didn't even TELL his parents! It's completely ridiculous. Anyways... ahh, 90's television.

Me too! Hahah I love that! Oh my gosh, we did the same thing! Well, kinda. The ONLY reason we went to Coral Reef on our first trip was because they went there on Full House and Boy Meets World! I don't even like seafood! See what these shows make me do?! HAHA.

So glad to see a comment from you, thanks for being here!

I'm glad you guys enjoyed your meal at Chef Mickey's! I've never been there, but since there's napkin twirling it sounds like my kinda place.

I can already tell I'm going to spend your entire TR ooohing and aaaahing over the view from the Contemporary. It's just so pretty!

I don't understand how people can go to the Grand Floridian and not make Full House references. I'm sorry John Stamos didn't show. I'm sure he has a good excuse though. He's got greek yogurt to promote and stuff.

Chef Mickey's is the perfect place for you then! Napkin twirling happens in 30 minute increments! (Or 45. I actually have no idea.)

Hahah, probably so! I basically spent my entire trip doing that so it's fine.

Me either! It's basically impossible for me to even THINK about GF without Full House interrupting my thought process. It's okay... I'll forgive and forget. Admittedly, I'm not even a fan of Greek yogurt. :guilty:

If I can remember correctly the famous 5 legged goat is on the side that faces the monorail, and I believe it was on the right hand side of that. I found it once and was so excited that everyone was looking at me like I was nuts (which I probably was).
You'll find it someday!

I think I got way too wrapped up in actually finding it that I ended up overlooking it! NEXT TIME I will find it. MARK MY WORDS! :lmao:

Haha, your Full House references had me cracking up!!! I can't help but thinking about that episode whenever I'm inside the GF. Especially John Stamos playing the piano. How rude of him to miss your visit. :lmao:

Thanks girl! Hahah. I know! It's the first thing that pops into my head! I know! I don't know where he was, but it's fine... I'll forgive him THIS TIME.
I always think of Boy Meets World when I'm on Splash Mountain! HAHAHA. Oh those shows!

Thanks! Omg, you honestly could. It's such a perfect place, and if you want a change of scenery, the monorail is perfect for that! It's got so many food choices too! (Including CUPCAKES.) Ahhh I'm basically in love with the place. Ahhhh really?!?! That's so cool! I hope yall get to!

I'm in..late but here!

YAY! Don't worry, you're not too late at all! I'm still on day 1! I'm so glad you're here. Thanks for joining in! :yay:

Can I just state how much I LOVED this update?!!!??! And also, immediately after I finished I tried to hunt down the WDW Full House episode online (but failed in my search, DARNIT!)... because it's just that amazing!

So, I love Grand Floridian. Matt and I stayed there during our honeymoon in 2011 for the weekend, before we moved over to Old Key West. Being on the monorail is SO NICE... and yes, it's definitely a fancy fance hotel, but it's still wonderful. I have fond memories of nightswimming on our first night there, and we had the most ridiculous view of Epcot/Poly ever. We watched the ELP from our window, too!

I LOVE sitting by that piano and listening to the man play! Last trip while we were walking around the resort, there was a little girl dancing to the music in her Snow White dress and it was the CUTEST thing ever. :goodvibes

I laughed out loud at your recollection of the DJ/Steve slo-mo scene... BAHAHAHA. BUT YES, how did Steve afford to stay at the Grand Floridian?! :rotfl:

I LOVE that you found the hammock! This is seriously the best update.

OMG, jealous of the stickers! I LOVE getting transportation stickers.. or well, any stickers actually! I got a friendship boat one last trip and was so excited! Until Matt decide to stick his on my back and not tell me for like an hour while I walked around. :lmao:

I loved Full house too actually my hubby used to come over and watch it with my brother and I(I've known him since we were 8) and I saw that episode too but now I wanna go watch it on youtube and show my kids :)

AWWW! Yay. Hahha that's awesome! Okay, it's called "The House Meets the Mouse." I have it on DVD but I could have sworn it was on you tube! :confused3

I love it too! I really want to stay there someday. I remember that yall stayed there from your last TR, you shared some pics I believe! And you're right, being on the monorail is the BEST. You know what else is on the monorail? Do ya? ;)

Omg, that SOUNDS like the cutest thing ever! I love little kids that are precious and not bratty. (I'm not picky...) Unfortunately we never actually saw the piano player! He was on a break and the jazz band was playing. I didn't recognize the songs though. I heard him in Dec. 2010 though when I went to go see the gingerbread house! He was so great.

Haha thank you! I know, right? I guess he had a secret life as a voice actor.

I know! Why are stickers so fun? Why are we children? It's fine. We got friendship boat stickers too! I was so excited!

Aww that's such a cute story! Hopefully you can find it on you tube, or maybe on ABC Family? :goodvibes

The One With A Practically Picture-less EMH Evening

July 29, 2012

When we got off the monorail, we waited for the boatloads of people to go down the ramp before we made our way down. There was no rush!

SDC12883.jpg

The first thing we saw when we got to the MK entrance was the beginning of a beautiful sunset!

SDC12882.jpg

This is basically the same picture, but it’s blurry. I thought it turned out really cool!

SDC12884.jpg

SDC12885.jpg

When we entered the Magic Kingdom (on the left-always on the left) we saw PEOPLE. There were lots and lots of people. EVERYWHERE, PEOPLE! Okay, yeah, you get it. They were lined up for the parade! We must have lost track of time because we didn’t even realize it was almost parade time!

Look at the people! But more importantly, look at the CASTLE.

We didn’t have any set plans, so we just decided to watch the evening entertainment! I don’t feel the need to do it every trip, but since Anna was there I didn't mind. I definitely wanted to see the Magic, the Memories, and You and Wishes from Main Street because I'd never seen them from there before. And now I’m SO GLAD I DID, because MMY is to be no more! Can I just talk about how bummed I am about that? Listen, I knew it wasn’t permanent. At Disney, nothing ever is! I especially knew that about MMY though, because hi, “Let the Memories Begin” can only be the slogan for so long. I just didn’t realize that MMY would be kaput so soon! When I heard that they were closing/changing MMY I literally did the slow motion, low-pitched "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO." I'm ridiculously upset about that because that show is everything to me. The song, the feeling involved, Walt Disney at the end. It got me every single time and I always cry when I hear that song. I don't want them to change it. :( But I have faith that the new show will be amazing as well. (At least I hope so. SO MUCH UNCERTAINTY.)

So listen, here’s the thing… from this point I don’t have any pictures until basically the end of the night. I am SO sorry about that! We were really enjoying our time and focusing on having fun instead of taking pictures.

So we got a spot for the entertainment at the very beginning of the Tomorrowland bridge. It was so crowded! It was a good spot that allowed us to see everything really well, but there were constantly people weaving around us, invading our personal space, and speaking lots of foreign languages of which we did not understand. I try not to let that stuff get to me though, so I just stood in my own little spot and tried to avoid everyone and just watch the shows.

Except, wait! There is ONE picture.

SDC10752.jpg

I took this to remind myself that this Pete was NOT a total creepasaurus! It was a miraculous event! He didn’t creep me out at all.

After the fabulous MSEP, we sat down near the ice cream cart on the Tomorrowland bridge to watch the other two shows. MMY and Wishes BOTH made me cry. They’re such beautiful shows and I was finally able to see them up close! Anna didn’t understand why I cried, but what are you gonna do? You can’t EXPLAIN the reasons! Hahahah.

Did I mention that the Tomorrowland bridge was a perfect spot, especially for Wishes? It really was! Tinkerbell flew right over us! And let me tell you, the foreign guy next to me was EXCITED. He kept yelling, “OHHHHH! *Words in another language most likely meaning “that’s really cool” or “is that person on fire?”*

Basically, he was excited. It was cute, really.

At one point I noticed that a little boy was doing these hand gestures, which I thought was a little odd… and then I realized that he was pretending that he was making the fireworks. AWWW! What a little angel.

After Wishes was over, we made our way to Tomorrowland! I was embarrassing Anna by singing the post-Wishes song.

“WE PUT OUR FAITH AND HOPE ON A SHOOTING STAR…. WOAH OAHHHH. WISHES!!!”

I just can’t resist that song. Or any song… ever.

Our first stop in Tomorrowland was the PeopleMover! Anna had never done this before, and the line was nonexistent. We loved it! She thought that going through Space Mountain was like the coolest thing ever to happen.

So when we got off… we got back on! We switched sides of the car this time so we could get the other perspective! I really do love that ride. I love Tomorrowland at night, and going through all the attractions and stores, and seeing BAY LAKE TOWER. We couldn’t get over the fact that we could see our hotel from a RIDE. What an awesome feeling!

After a double dose of PEOPLE MOVIN’, we headed over to Space Mountain! We still had two of the free fastpasses left, and we thought that Space Mountain was the perfect place to use them! That ride is always so much fun and I must admit, I always make the funniest noises when I ride it. HAHAHA.

Then it was time to head into the land of Fantasy!!! Our first stop was the MAD TEA PARTY. I hadn’t ridden that since my first trip! It’s a fun one but WOO, I surely do feel dizzy after I ride that thing. BUT OH WELL! I’m still young, might as well ride the dizzying rides when they don't kill me!

Then we headed to the carousel! In keeping with the Full House theme we had going, we had to quote the Disney episode once more. “UH-UH. CarouSEL again!”

If you know what that means, then you’re really really awesome. Let’s be best friends.

Once again, time was just getting away from us! We only had time to ride one more ride, so we chose…

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh!

We like to walk on the wild side, yall!

Okay, really though. We’d been up since 4 AM, and it was now 12:30 AM. Walking to Frontierland was just too much of a task for us tired souls.

We had a lot of fun on Winnie the Pooh though! Those characters and stories are so special to me and I love seeing them right in front of me. It’s so precious!

When we got off the ride, we weren’t ready to leave QUITE yet. We walked over by the carouSEL again…

SDC12888.jpg

…and lo and behold, the SWORD IN THE STONE HAD NOT A SOUL SURROUNDING IT!!!!

So OBVIOUSLY we had to take advantage of this rare and amazing thing!

430266_825027531369_675103471_n.jpg

319397_825027566299_777135206_n.jpg

Strugglin’.

Then we really had to leave. We were BEAT, and the park was closing in a few minutes, so we headed THROUGH the castle!

SDC12890.jpg

Since there was barely anyone around, I finally got a good look at those beautiful murals!

SDC12891.jpg

“You FANCY now!”

SDC12892.jpg

“There ain’t nothin’ up there but a bunny! A BUNNY?!”

391503_825027626179_1394758753_n.jpg

The slipper fits! Happiness abounds!

Let me tell you, I love those murals, but I don’t really understand why they’re not designed in the traditional Disney animation! I’m guessing it’s because it’s a mosaic? I honestly have no idea, but it throws me off a little bit. I admit it.

When we made it to the other side and were directly under the castle, I looked up, and the sight literally took my breath away! (Sadly, the photos don’t have the same effect. But still!)

SDC12893.jpg

SDC12894.jpg

Sigh. :cloud9:

Then we really, really, REALLY needed to leave. We were basically sleepwalking at that point. We made our way out of the Magic Kingdom and up the monorail ramp, which was thankfully not busy at all! Two minutes later we were back at the Contemporary! We made our way back across the Skyway to our magnificent villa. We basically forced ourselves to shower and get ready for bed instead of crashing into bed. Can I just say, I’ve never experienced better water pressure than I did at Bay Lake Tower? It was AMAZING!

When I came back after my shower, Anna was watching King of Queens. Sigh, no Stacey that night, but don’t worry, I got my fill!!! I basically fell asleep within minutes. I slept SO well that night! I have a feeling I dreamed some dreams of old Hollywood that night, in preparation for our first full Disney day! ;)

Continued in Next Update

Great update. I wish I could see your pictures now. I am so glad I saw MMY in June because I won't get to see it again. Boo. I really, really liked it and I hope it comes back in some tweaked form. One can hope, right?

I had no idea there were so many full house episodes filmed in Disney world. I used to watch that show, but obviously I wasn't enough of a fan. But seriously, who didn't like the Tanners.

Anyway, I will stop back later to see pictures. :)

What an amazing MK night! From the sunset to the MM&Y and Wishes to a twofer on the Peoplemover to the Sword in the Stone (and everything in between!)

I'm a teacups kinda girl, but it's hard to find someone willing to ride it with me!

How great is it that you were only a two minute monorail ride from home?!?! Sounds perfect to me!!

I have to admit, the People Mover and Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh are definitely near the top of my list of favorites. I hadn't ridden on WtP before our last trip, and I pretty much fell in love with it right away. How can you not?

The Magic Kingdom at night is so beautiful. Some of my favorite memories ever are of just wandering throughout the different lands and seeing all the lights. I love it so much.

Then we headed to the carousel! In keeping with the Full House theme we had going, we had to quote the Disney episode once more. “UH-UH. CarouSEL again!”

If you know what that means, then you’re really really awesome. Let’s be best friends.

:lmao:

"Maybe you didn't notice this CROWN on my head." :rolleyes1 Man I love the WDW Full House. Because I had to, go to 2:56. hehe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zu2MK5kb_J0&feature=channel&list=UL

I'm glad you got to see the MMY show before it ends. It'll be interesting to see what they replace it with. I only saw the show once but it definitely had me tearing up (and this older woman who was standing next to us-she was there with her husband and grandkids and the husband told the grandkids how grandma was sentimental. Awww. That got me even more teary-eyed).

Anyways...that's so awesome the monorail is such a quick ride back to the CR. If I can get BLT for next spring break my dad said he would seriously consider going just so we can walk to 7 AM EMH (and even though he would have been there literally a week before with my mom and sister!).

Sounds like y'all had a great night in MK! :thumbsup2

That's great that you were able to see the MMY show one last time. I was so mad when I read that it was ending. I didn't get to see it on our trip last year & I won't ever see it now. :sad1:

Love that y'all got so many rides done. I don't think I would have been able to function on so little sleep. :rotfl:

I just found your trip report and I am hooked.

We are headed to BLT on Friday and since you love the monorail, I have a question for you.

Do the monorails have limited hours based on the theme park hours? When we stayed at BLT in November and stayed for Epcot EMH we could not take the monorail all the way back to BLT because the MK monorail had stopped running. I am trying to think ahead for our trip.

I love all your full house references, I completely utterly totally love that show and the Disney one and the Christmas one where Steve, Joey and Vicky all show up dressed as Santa Claus are my absolute favorites!

Wow you guys were troopers to last all day after being up soooo early to catch your flight...hopefully you woke up refreshed for another day at the world.

How amazingly cool that you could see your hotel from the Peoplemover...I love the look of the contemporary and BLT, just wish they were a little more affordable and not so quite out of my current price range lol.

I can't wait to hear more:goodvibes

What a great start to your day. I tear up the first time I see the castle on any trip. And then I tear up AGAIN when it lights up at night. And AGAIN during the fireworks... you get the idea. :lmao:

I am so thrilled that I am NOT the only one that sheds tears of joy when @ WDW. Whether I see the Monorail, or the Castle or just standing in the middle of any part of the park, I cry and still try to figure whether I am yearning for my childhood again, or so very grateful that I'm there @ my age. LOL :lmao:

Great update! I'm glad that you're feeling some Pete's dragon love and no longer think he is totally creepy. :rotfl: You at least gotta love Elliot, he's AWESOME! (so awesome that I suggested to DH that we name this new baby Elliot- and promptly got shot down :lmao: )

I think the peoplemover is simply the BEST at night. I love seeing tomorrowland all lit up, and watching the castle change colors too- what could be better than that! Oh yeah, being able to see BLT!

You guys are real troopers staying out so late! Good call walking through the Castle, those mosaics have been a favorite of mine since I first went to Disney!

Ah, finally, someone who can mourn the loss of MMY with me!! :sad1: I had basically the same reaction when I read the news about the show being replaced.
Alex gave me a hard time about being so sad about the news, because, before I saw the show, I thought it'd be totally lame. I hated the idea. Then I saw it and fell in love. I listen to the soundtrack several times a week.

All right, enough with my MMY funeral...:rotfl:

Nighttime EMHs at MK are the best, and I applaud you for trekking through it on your arrival day!

Walking through the castle and seeing it up close is great. Really makes you feel the Disney magic. :goodvibes

Love your pictures... I cracked up when I saw the one of Pete! Can't wait to read all about your first full day! Yay! So much fun when your whole trip is ahead of you!

SO sad that the MMY is going away! I only got to see it once or twice...unacceptable! I hope I like the new show just as much. I totally get crying during the fireworks...it is overwhelming! I get SO emotional in the MK. Don't even talk to me about what I'm like when it's time to leave the park.

I love the pictures you took of the castle looking straight up! They are gorgeous. Gah, I wish I could just live there. It is my dream to somehow finagle a stay in the castle penthouse apartment. One day!
