Hi! I'm looking to possibly get a cake for my daughter's 5th bday delivered to CRT for our dinner there on her bday. We don't need a huge amount, there's only 4 of us and dessert will be included in our meal anyway. What is the minimum amount I should expect to spend? I just hate to spend like $100 on a cake and have most of it go to waste. The little mini cakes look cute but can I ask them to just do it in like pink and purple and then bring maybe my own little princess figurine to have them put on the top? Also will they put a candle in it when they bring it out? I'm just overwhelmed with the 200 pages of cake info and don't really know where to start. Thanks for any help!
A mini has always been plenty for my family of 4, and they are $35 for a standard (no fondant, extra designs, etc). They can do them in a variety of colors and when we had one at CRT they did provide candles.

We have ordered a mini cake on our last three trips and it was only about 3 - 4 bites for 3 of us.

Perfect, thank you!

That's fine. Honestly, my husband and I probably won't even really eat it since we will have desserts with our meals. It's more so just to have a birthday cake for her on her bday.

A mini should be perfect for you. They are super cute!

Thank you! Will the restaurant put the figure on it or no? How would I get the cake before my daughter sees it if they won't?
Usually no they won't. You can ask your server or you can see if you can mail them the figure to place it before they deliver it but many people have been told no. I might try speaking with the host/ess (go "to the bathroom") and see if they can bring the cake out to the podium for the you place the figure.

I just remembered CRT's podium is downstairs so that might not work. I haven't had a cake at CRT so I'm not too sure if they have a usual procedure

Thanks for the info! Sounds like maybe I'll just have to get over it and order the little figure that they put on it for $15 just to not have to stress about it.

Hello all! I LOVE all of the pictures posted. I just realized that instead of getting a cake delivered to our room, I can also order a cake from Ragland Road where we're having dinner the first night of our vaca. Does anyone have pictures of the 10 inch Dunbrody Chocolate Cake?

Annnnnnd 2 more questions for this newb, how far in advance can you order a cake? I know we're not going until October but I'm excited! :D Also, do you pay for the cake when you order over the phone? Or do you receive a bill when checking in? We're renting DVC points so I don't want the owner to find a random charge! Thanks for your help!

ETA I just received a reply and she said I'll be working through them. Is this normal when wanting a cake delivered to a restaurant in MK? I'm probably being really paranoid but I'm so afraid something is gonna get mixed up between what I tell her and what is told to the bakery team with flavors/design/delivery date, etc. Feel free to tell me I'm being ridiculous lol

This is the usual procedure for Magic Kingdom, but often they will give up trying to be the middle man and let you work with the Contemporary directly. I'd tell them that's what you want to do.

I need some help. I am trying to order a cake from the Contemporary bakery for our DDs birthday at BOG. I sent them over pictures of 2 different cake options and they declined both of them. The only option they gave me was a flat 2D cake. I wanted it to be a Wishes themed cake and I was looking for fireworks on sticks to be put into the cake with a Castle on top of the cake and a small tinker-bell. I was told that because it is being transported to MK they can't put things in the cake. I was given the option of a black outline of the castle on the side in the front of the cake with only fireworks made out of icing. Has anyone had a 3D cake delivered to BOG? If so can you give me a picture? Did something change? Thanks for your help.

I do know there have been a couple complaints on this thread about fireworks-themed cakes made by the Contemporary over the years. Maybe they've given up trying? Which Chef are you working with? Chef Brian seems to be more open to ideas that the other chef will shoot down.

Information on Raglan Road can be found in the 2nd post of this thread, including how far out you can order:

Raglan Road — 407-938-0300

Cakes come in two sizes: 10-inch round (12 slices) or half sheet cake (12" x 16", 25-30 slices). 48 hours' to 1 week's notice required. No fancy fondant cakes and no screen prints.

  • Layered Baileys & Chocolate cake: Layers of chocolate sponge, chocolate mousse and chocolate buttercream covered in a chocolate mirror icing. $65 for 10-inch round, $110 for half sheet cake.
  • Dunbrody Chocolate Kiss: Chocolate mousse cake with a chocolate biscuit based covered in a dark chocolate ganache. $60 for 10-inch round, $100 for half sheet cake.
  • Victoria Sponge Cake: Classic sponge cake with fresh strawberries and Chantilly cream. $55 for 10-inch round, $95 for half sheet cake.

Thank you for your help! Have you ever had the Dunbrody Kiss? It sounds amazing!

You know, I've never ordered a cake for Raglan Road. But their food is pretty great, so if they actually make the cakes, those should be great too!

I was dealing with Chef Brian first but then was told to deal with Amy from Special Occasion Location Coordinator of Magic Kingdom Park. But today I was emailed by Kathy who told me the Bakery said no to either cake. The only option they gave me was a flat cake with nothing on top of it but icing.

Thanks @Just1Princess - Here is the picture of the second cake that I sent them once I gave up on the cake with the fireworks on sticks - I found it on this site I think and it was made by the GF Bakery. All I asked for was a picture or figurine of the castle and a figurine of tinker-bell on the top of the cake just like in this picture. I didn't want the flowers but maybe some mickey balloons around the sides with the fireworks. I was told no outright - they didn't even try to explain why. I emailed back early this morning asking why and no one answered. When they said no I was offered only a flat 10" cake with some fireworks in icing around it and they were charging me $140 for it. I am going to call tomorrow and hopefully can talk to someone over the phone. Did anyone talk with Brian directly?

@lurkyloo me again! I hope you're right. This is the latest response I received. Are these really the only options they can do? I don't wanna argue with someone if it is but I can't imagine that the Contemporary doesn't have other options.

"For the cake flavors, you can choose from vanilla or chocolate cake, vanilla or chocolate buttercream icing, and then vanilla buttercream, chocolate buttercream, white chocolate mousse, or dark chocolate mousse filling."

No they can do more but they really like to fight you on it. If you really want something else keep asking

Thanks @TinkLoverSam!! I replied and let her know that I'm aware they have more options than she mentioned and asked if she could reach back out to the bakery or put me in direct contact. I don't understand why they wouldn't want to disclose all of their options. It's not like we are paying $20 for an 8" round cake lol for the $136 quote I was provided I should at least be able to get a marble cake. If she writes back refusing to offer other flavors and put me in contact what can I do from that point? I'm not one to get nasty with people, it's just not in my nature. Plus I'd really be afraid of the cake I'd get lol.

I'm not sure. I haven't ordered from there personally but I know they make DFTW cakes so they make other flavours. My only cake was a mini cake from Yacht Club and even though I was pretty sure I could get other flavours there too I settled for chocolate with chocolate mouse.

I really didn't expect ordering a cake to be this difficult. In my very first email I said I wanted marble and asked for suggestions on fillings that would pair well with it. The email with options she provided did not include marble, and when I questioned it she is now saying that marble is a standard option but any other flavors will cost more. Okay, great, but why not say it was an option to begin with? I know I can be overly sensitive but her email was kinda rude!

Has anyone else ever had difficulty or even encountered rudeness when trying to order a cake for MK?
