Thanks @TinkLoverSam!! I replied and let her know that I'm aware they have more options than she mentioned and asked if she could reach back out to the bakery or put me in direct contact. I don't understand why they wouldn't want to disclose all of their options. It's not like we are paying $20 for an 8" round cake lol for the $136 quote I was provided I should at least be able to get a marble cake. If she writes back refusing to offer other flavors and put me in contact what can I do from that point? I'm not one to get nasty with people, it's just not in my nature. Plus I'd really be afraid of the cake I'd get lol.

If she refuses to put you in contact with the Contemporary, just call the Contemporary Cake Line or email Chef Brian back and explain all the hassle you're going through. The MK middleman system is designed to take the pressure off CR Private Dining, but not to the point where you can't even place an order!

I was dealing with Chef Brian first but then was told to deal with Amy from Special Occasion Location Coordinator of Magic Kingdom Park. But today I was emailed by Kathy who told me the Bakery said no to either cake. The only option they gave me was a flat cake with nothing on top of it but icing.
If it makes you feel better I'm dealing with Kathy and she's giving me a bit of a rough time as well!

Thanks @lurkyloo ! I told her the marble and chocolate icing is what I'd like and asked about the peanut butter cup filling. I'm crossing my fingers she says yes or I'll be contacting Brian or calling the cake hotline. It just peeves me that Kathy seems to be so difficult with my requests. I appreciate you and everyone else's help and suggestions with this process!

I really didn't expect ordering a cake to be this difficult. In my very first email I said I wanted marble and asked for suggestions on fillings that would pair well with it. The email with options she provided did not include marble, and when I questioned it she is now saying that marble is a standard option but any other flavors will cost more. Okay, great, but why not say it was an option to begin with? I know I can be overly sensitive but her email was kinda rude!

Has anyone else ever had difficulty or even encountered rudeness when trying to order a cake for MK?

I am having such difficulty. The first question I was asked was what my price point was and then it went downhill from there. Then everything I asked for was denied and like you said this is not a cheap cake. $140 is way more than I would pay here where I live for an 8 or 10 inch cake. Plus every time I ask a question it takes 1-2 days to get an answer. Ugh!

When I started with Kathy that is when all the "No's" began. First I was dealing with Amy and she seemed so nice to work with.

I keep asking to speak on the phone because it is easier than emails and she just ignores that part of my email messages. I have asked her 3 times to talk on the phone and it has never happened.

While I'm relieved that it's not just me being sensitive or irrational I'm so sorry you're dealing with this as well. Her email to me said something like "as we order all of the cakes for the MK we do know the flavors that are available." Um, ok, so that's why when I asked for options you only offered up vanilla and chocolate? And I had to ask again to get you to say you could do marble with no upcharge? Why the heck is ordering a cake, a super expensive cake, so much work?! I think this Kathy lady needs a heavy dose of pixie dust lol

Keep us updated of your progress! I've been hearing back every day but only in the morning. If she keeps acting like this maybe we can email or call someone and let them know about our frustrations and get someone else to work with us. Btw, that fireworks cake was super cute! I don't understand why they couldn't do something like that.

has anyone seen a cake for a graduation? Looking for ideas, just beginning to look through all 195 pages here & the pics

Well I was hearing from her every morning except for today. I still haven't heard from her. Amy was wonderful and at first she called to talk through everything over the phone and asked what I wanted for the cake and filing and said it was doable. If I don't hear from anyone today I am going to escalate this. I am glad that I did this 6 weeks in advance. I thought the fireworks cake would be fine too. I understand that they don't want to put anything in the cake for transit but I offered for them to put it on the side and I would put it in the cake when we get to the restaurant. I still never got that question answered. I will let you know if and when I hear anything.

Trying to decide about a cake for dd's graduation. We only have ADR @ 50's PT & Tusker House(bfast) Would you recommend doing it at either place?

I am planning a cake for my daughter who will be turning 6. Do you think the contemporary bakery would do a shark boy and lava girl cake? I know I can contact them but if it's to far fetched I want to come up with something else.

@anpeck Now I know why we are having so much trouble getting a cake for MK. I still never heard back from Kathy, since Monday. I tried calling in order to leave a message and the recording said that as of Dec 15th you can no longer order cakes for the MK restaurants. I guess they had many problems with the delivery of these cakes but why MK and not any other park. I hope I get to order this one - and I hope someone calls me back.

Has anyone inquired about and ordered a Star Wars themed cake from the Contemporary ? Any pictures ?

Oh no! Thanks for updating us on that! I wanted to order a cake for DH for his bday on December 22 at CRT. Hopefully they'll give another option. I was wanting to order a mini cake, as we're going to MVMCP right after.

You are welcome. The recording says that you can order a mini cake at the podium of the restaurants but they cannot be personalized. They also said that you can call to check once it gets closer to your date to see if they came up with another option.

Below is the graduation cake I ordered 4 years ago for my oldest DD when she graduated high school.

Private dining at BC/YC took the order and we had it delivered to Cape May. It's basically the mini wedding cake and at that time I paid $35 plus $10 for the grad cap. I called to order the same cake for my youngest DD who just graduated high school and called the BC/YC again since we want it delivered during our Yachtsman dinner we have next month and the same cake is now costing me $65! My youngest loves red velvet cake so they told me that was an upcharge of $15 add the extra $10 charge for the cap plus sales tax and yup, it came to just under $65. Expensive? Yes. but what I do for one I must do for the other so it's a done deal. I didn't have any problems with ordering it but they did have to get back to me about the red velvet flavor which obviously, with the extra charge, was not an issue.

Here's a pic of the cake I ordered:

That graduation mini cake is adorable! A little pricey but it looks so good. :)

Does anyone have a picture of a cake with the whipped cream frosting? I can't decide between vanilla buttercream and whipped cream frosting. I'll be ordering a cake to be delivered to our Yacht Club room. Last time we had them delivered to restaurants but finished less than half of each cake, I figure at least this way we'll have leftovers in the room for a few days.

I wish they let you order raspberry mousse in a size smaller than a 10 inch cake, that is a LOT for the 5 of us. My family really liked it though so I will get in anyway.

I am at a total loss for the cake design, I may just ask for a beach theme with Goofy and Daisy, think that is possible?

Thanks. :thumbsup2:goodvibes:scratchin
