Thanks Lurkyloo! Guess we would go with the Contemporary. Would you also be able to guesstimate how big a 2 tier mini-cake would be? 4" by 6"? Its going to be 3 adults and a toddler, after a full meal, and don't want to go overboard - which a 6" looks like it would be.
Will they deliver it to our room at the WL if requested? Front desk? I've seen various responses in the thread to this one.

A 2-tier mini cake is not enough for 3 adults unless you're not really that interested in cake. It would be maybe 3 bites each. But as you say, a 6-inch is overkill, unless you like having cake for breakfast for the rest of your trip! :teeth:

Cakes can always be delivered to your room at Disney-owned Deluxe and Value resorts. Moderates are more of a crapshoot. Sometimes you have to pick it up at the food court.

Again, thanks for the great info!! Hmmm. . . .that's going to be a hard one to call, gonna have to chew on it a bit. Too bad they don't make an oversized mini cake. :goodvibes
Believe me, I've thought about breakfast leftovers (yum! :cake:), and sounds good but its going to be our last night. I'd hate to pay $80 bucks for more for a cake that I end up throwing most away.
Thanks again for the great info!!

I've done a mini 3 times for the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 children). When cut into 1/4s, it's always been plenty for us after a full meal. But as @lurkyloo pointed out, it's not a lot of cake, 3 or 4 bites each.

Has anyone ordered a cake from CBR lately? I'm thinking of having a cake delivered to our room for my son's birthday. Does anyone have the e-mail/contact info? I have the number, but would prefer to e-mail. Thanks!

You can do it now, but definitely call back again two weeks ahead of time, and again two days ahead of time to be sure that they still have your order.

The Contemporary Resort makes the cakes for Be Our Guest. I have ordered many cakes from them, and they were all delicious.

They are going to tell you that you need a 10 inch cake, but you could definitely get away with an 8 inch cake and still have leftovers. I would say that a cake that looks like that would cost between $125 and $175, depending on how elaborate the design is .

@lurkyloo I received an email from a special occasion location coordinator (try saying that 5x fast!) that they can do something similar to the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake picture for $136, with the only difference being a 2D image standing on top of the cake because they're not allowed to sculpt the face. I'm not really thrilled with the 2D image standing up, it's just not the look I was going for on the cake. Is that true that they can't sculpt the face? And do you know if I'll be dealing with this coordinator for the cake, or will I be able to work directly with the bakery? I don't really like dealing with a third person for fear that something will get lost in translation.

Thanks for your help!

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the 2-D images either. It is true that they're not allowed to create new character sculpts without a lengthy approval process, but I'm surprised they didn't mention the 3-D white chocolate Mickey statue they already have that they can put on top. (Painting costs extra):

Would that work if he were atop a colorful Clubhouse-inspired cake?

Unfortunately, if you are planning a private event, you do have to communicate with the pastry team through your planner, but just have them put everything in writing. Your event BEO will have a description of the cake in it — go over it with a fine-tooth comb and make sure it details everything you want in the cake.

I ordered from there last year and they refused to do a custom cake.

Thanks! I'm surprised they didn't mention that option either. We're not planning a private event, we just want a birthday cake for our dinner at Be Our Guest. Should I contact someone else, I'm afraid maybe I did this wrong now...

ETA I just received a reply and she said I'll be working through them. Is this normal when wanting a cake delivered to a restaurant in MK? I'm probably being really paranoid but I'm so afraid something is gonna get mixed up between what I tell her and what is told to the bakery team with flavors/design/delivery date, etc. Feel free to tell me I'm being ridiculous lol

Secret of Wings Cake.jpg I think 2D characters can work when the rest of the cake is well done.

We did a Secret of the Wings cake for our twins' birthday--it was a straight to DVD movie you may have missed, but the gist of it was that Tink had a fraternal twin who was very different from her--hence the appropriateness. We ordered it for an Illuminations cruise from the Beach Club and it was delicious. The picture doesn't do justice to how much we all loved the cake--it was super cute, the baker captured the differences of the two different characters really well (Tink's twin was a bit of an Elsa precursor) and it was delicious as well.

Question to the group--anyone have ideas for a cake to celebrate both marathon runners and a 50th birthday? I'm hoping to book CG for the 8th (I can't book until tomorrow) and I want to order a cake for us. Has anyone seen a cute runner Minnie or other character?

I need some help. I am trying to order a cake from the Contemporary bakery for our DDs birthday at BOG. I sent them over pictures of 2 different cake options and they declined both of them. The only option they gave me was a flat 2D cake. I wanted it to be a Wishes themed cake and I was looking for fireworks on sticks to be put into the cake with a Castle on top of the cake and a small tinker-bell. I was told that because it is being transported to MK they can't put things in the cake. I was given the option of a black outline of the castle on the side in the front of the cake with only fireworks made out of icing. Has anyone had a 3D cake delivered to BOG? If so can you give me a picture? Did something change? Thanks for your help.

Plan on ordering the mickey mouse head cake for my son's first birthday. I am trying to decide whether to have the cake at breakfast Crystal Palace or at Lunch Skipper Canteen. any thoughts on which meal I am better off doing it at. We already decided to do not the cake at dinner time in case he is sleeping (we will be at narcoosee's)

I'd do it at CP. it's a much more kid-friendly environment, and I know one year when I added my son's celebration to our ADR there, they had confetti on the table and a signed bday card for him from the Hundred Acre Wood gang :)

Hi! I'm looking to possibly get a cake for my daughter's 5th bday delivered to CRT for our dinner there on her bday. We don't need a huge amount, there's only 4 of us and dessert will be included in our meal anyway. What is the minimum amount I should expect to spend? I just hate to spend like $100 on a cake and have most of it go to waste. The little mini cakes look cute but can I ask them to just do it in like pink and purple and then bring maybe my own little princess figurine to have them put on the top? Also will they put a candle in it when they bring it out? I'm just overwhelmed with the 200 pages of cake info and don't really know where to start. Thanks for any help!

They won't put the figure on top you will have to. I'm not sure about candles. Yes they can do a mini in pink and purple. There are also princess cakes available at CRT if your daughter has a particular favourite but I'm not sure on the size.

ETA: I found the link to the princess cakes and the email to order at CRT here: http://www.disboards.com/threads/official-disney-cake-chatter-part-iv.3261922/page-99#post-53660696

Thank you! Will the restaurant put the figure on it or no? How would I get the cake before my daughter sees it if they won't?

When we were there for my DGS's 4th birthday we went to Publix for water etc (we used the one at Lake Buena Vista) and ordered our cake there and picked it up the night before his birthday to show him first thing - then took it to dinner with us. It was really lovely and very, very reasonable cost. An idea for anyone with transport.
