Yes, they can do Mad Hatter theming on mini cakes, just not the shape.

I spoke with Pat just a few minutes ago. She recommended two mini cakes stacked on top of one another covered with fondant to look like the Mad Hatter's hat instead of going with the two tired mini cake with butter cream. I went with chocolate for the cake and dark chocolate mousse. She quoted $65. I also order 4 chocolate covered strawberries but do not think those were included in the price. Thanks for all the information you have posted. It will make for a wonderful surprise for my daughter's 16th birthday. I'll post pictures when we return.

Just wanted to share our cake from the Contemporary bakery. It was amazing, even better than I imagined! I chose the image from two examples they sent and asked for purple fondant and piped lanterns on the side. I was surprised by the beautiful silhouettes and braid. This cake was just stunning in person. It was 6" almond cake with amaretto crunch filling, delicious! It was $64.

Wow! This cake makes me rethink my Afternoon Tea plan, and think maybe I need to think about going somewhere the Contemporary delivers. Did you get any push back about the flavors? Those are exactly the ones I wanted!

None at all, although I do always play the "it was the flavors of our wedding cake" card. No pushback from Boardwalk bakery in the past either. ;)

I had one of these done in December (no strawberries) and it was $50, so your price likely included everything. :)

Oh really! Do you have a picture? I was hoping for strawberries in the chocolate mousse but since it is small no dice. I don't want to get a bigger one and waste food since we are on the DDP we will not need any extra. I'm really excited! If that price includes both that would be great!

Cake advice please
Thinking about ordering a small (8 inch?) single tier remake of our 2010 Disney Wedding Cake
It was a Mickey's Delight Marble cake with dark chocolate mousse filling
We're going to be at the poly, so, would this be possible from GF? I know it's mostly similar to the available ones, but I want it to have the decoration etc. Any idea of cost?
Thanks for help

Here's the one I got. I was celebrating my 40th a few months early. Absolutely loved it!!

We will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary during our upcoming trip and would love to order a cake but have some questions from you experts who have done so in the past. There will be a total of 7 (4 adults, 3 kids) of us this year as we are taking friends with us.

We will be at Crystal Palace the day of our actual anniversary but the day before we will be at Captain's Grille (one of our favorite restaurants). My questions are would a 6" inch cake be plenty for us? Which restaurant (I know it is two different bakeries) would be better for a cake?

Right now I am having my husband tell me what kind of theme he would like for us. I know the cake itself we would like chocolate with some filling (maybe strawberry) that was the top tier of our wedding cake and unfortunately we never got to eat it. I really would just like an idea of what it may cost us before I even contact Disney. Thank you for any and all your help!

we are going with friends in Aug. I see some nice cakes on here from Contemporary Bakery. We would like it to be delivered to Be our Guest and it seems like this is possible after reading other posts. How do you call this bakery? Is it the Cake Hot line? My friends daughter loves chewbacca so we are looking for a cake with him on it. Any help would be great.

I just found this on the first page:

Contemporary Resort* 407-824-2955 or wdw.contemporary.cake.order@disney.com

I assume we go through them?

Thanks.

No you have to go through Magic Kingdom Cakesimage.pngThe cakes will be made by the Contemporary but you have to communicate through MK Cakes

Yes, you'd need to order it from the GF. Be sure to tell them you had a Disney wedding. You don't need an 8-inch cake, though. A 6-inch fancy fondant cake has multiple layers inside and will feed 2 people for a week. Cost will depend on how elaborate you want the extra decoration. Figure on $75-$125.

If you get a fancy fondant cake, it will have multiple layers inside and be plenty for a group like yours. If you get a basic buttercream cake, it will be only 2 layers (like a podium cake) so you will have to cut the pieces smaller. If you order it for Captain's Grille you can go directly through Yacht & Beach Club Private Dining, but sometimes the pastry chefs there aren't as responsive as those at the Contemporary (which makes the fancy cakes for the Magic Kingdom). However, to get to the Contemporary's pastry chefs, you have to go through the Magic Kingdom Cake hotline first, and sometimes there are a few time-wasting messages back and forth before you can make them understand you want something custom and need to speak directly with the Contemporary.

Thank you so much! We really enjoyed our wedding cake, and it was the ONLY thing my (now) husband put his foot down over, not wanting anything too fancy or over flavoured. So, we are really excited to recreate it, and share it with both of our children. Our son was there, and loved it last time, so.... So happy to hear it is doable!

Could you give me an idea of what the fancy fondant cake would cost for just flowers and then for a themed cake? Or the buttercream cake? Will they do a different filling in a buttercream cake? Also could I get chocolate mold on top of either? We arent sure what we want to do yet.

Hello everyone - looking for some general feedback. I'd like to surprise my son with a Holiday Nightmare themed 2 tier mini cake for his birthday. We would be looking for more than just the standard chocolate/vanilla options.
Have folks had better luck going thru the Grand Floridian bakers or the Contemporary? We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge but will be having dinner that night at the Poly, so we could use either.

Only the pastry team can tell you how much it will cost. When you say "a themed cake," that could be a screen print or it could be a 3-tiered Mad Hatter cake covered in sculpted fondant, pieces made from modeling chocolate, the works. There is a whole lotta pricing variation there. You can get a variety of filling flavors in your cake—it doesn't matter whether it's covered in buttercream or fondant atop buttercream. The only restrictions are the size (they can't put fresh fruit fillings or carrot cake in mini cakes) and the policies of the place where you order the cake (see my reply to Humphrey_Bear, below). You can get a chocolate mold atop any size cake that will fit it.

The best thing to do is to search online for photos of cakes you like and then send them to the pastry team with information on which ideas you want combined for your cake. Then they'll let you know how much it will cost. If it's too high, ask them which aspects can be modified in order to bring the price down.

Example

For my birthday at Epcot, I sent them this image:

For some reason, the private dining contact at the GF almost never lets anyone order non-standard cake flavors, despite the fact that the pastry team there offers the widest range of flavors at WDW due to their production of Disney wedding cakes. Occasionally people will get on her good side or just be persistent enough to get some other flavors, but it is MUCH easier to order nonstandard flavors at basically every other location on property.

Thank you thank you that was very helpful!

Thanks Lurkyloo! Guess we would go with the Contemporary. Would you also be able to guesstimate how big a 2 tier mini-cake would be? 4" by 6"? Its going to be 3 adults and a toddler, after a full meal, and don't want to go overboard - which a 6" looks like it would be.
Will they deliver it to our room at the WL if requested? Front desk? I've seen various responses in the thread to this one.

Hello all! I LOVE all of the pictures posted. I just realized that instead of getting a cake delivered to our room, I can also order a cake from Ragland Road where we're having dinner the first night of our vaca. Does anyone have pictures of the 10 inch Dunbrody Chocolate Cake?
