Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread Part II

I have no problems with anyone copying the cake! That's why I posted it! After honestly calling at least 7 times and becoming very frustrated:headache: trying to find someone who would do a custom cake, the guy at the yacht/beach private dining took pity on me. He transferred me to Darren in the back and he is the one who set it up for me. The day after we got the cake, I called them back and wanted to thank whoever did the cake and they told me that Jesse Rodriguez was the one who made the cake. I sent him an email to thank him. I wish the pictures had come out better so you could see all the detail, it truly was beautiful. It was a 10 in. cake and the total was $102($80+tax and gratuity). I thought the cake was worth it, it's too bad we only ate about 1/4 of it before my mother dropped it. If you have any problems please let me know as I know how hard it can be to try and set it up!

Thanks for all of the wonderful information!:thumbsup2 That should make my quest much easier!

I'll have to agree that ordering specialty cakes is hit or miss. The first one I did in February 2006 was a breeze, but I ordered a basic Mickey head cake this February for my son, and not only was it like trying to find your way through a dark tunnel, but I had to remind them twice at Narcoossee's to bring it to the table.

I'll let you know how it works out, and if I can figure out how to upload a pic, I'll do so when I get back! Thanks again!:)

From the thread posted, I didn't know this:

Ok I just called priving dining and asked about the price increase. The CM told me that after July, 13, the prices will increase, so all the orders placed before that date will stay at its orginal prices. The 6 inch will go to $21.00 and the 8 inch will go to $32.00.

Looks like we better get on the phone and get those orders placed by Sunday!! Looks like I need to take care of this instead of putting it off another day.

Wow...what an increase! Glad we had all our cakes to celebrate our anniversary and our kids birthdays this last trip a few weeks ago.

I just tried the number for the BC and got a general operator who couldn't connect me with the bakery. He connected me with the cake hotline, but that's only for restaurants. Does anyone know what number I would call to have a cake delivered to our room at the BC?:confused3

Thanks!:goodvibes

Wonder if that would work if I called before 7/13 to place a cake order for our December trip? :rolleyes1

OOOHHH, this cake is great! I have been reading through this and the old thread. Debating whether to order a cake for my DS8's Bday in Aug. This picture has pretty much made up my mind to do it!

Can I ask? How much did it cost? How many did it feed? And if we are at WL or Cont., is there any way to get it there? I'm not sure what to do. I called Chef Mickey's (his Bday choice) and all they offered me was the standard cake or a personalized cake :confused3 Maybe I would have better luck if I called WL?

TIA for any help or input! I need it

Sorry for the delay in replying! Missed this post!
If you call to order a cake, they ask you where you will be staying at etc....resorts...maybe someone else would know abt a cake at Chef Mickeys other than the standard 12.50 one...
Well this was a larger cake, it fed 9 people on "cake day" (inc 2 teens and 2 kids) and we did it on Monday so we had leftover cake the rest of the week, and we even sent cake home with 2 of our guests! With tax etc, and the $10 charge for the Star Wars image it was $69
Try calling your resort and see what they say! Good Luck!

That is because YC & BC does NOT have a bakery. All of their cakes - possible exception is Yachtsman - are made at the BW Bakery. Call private dining at YC/BC and they will take your order, arrange delivery to your room, etc.

So, heads up for anyone trying to order the adorable Minnie cake, please call private dining - it'll totally confuse the operators, lol, to ask for a place that doesn't exist. Good luck. I will be calling today too.

There is a fully in house bakery with a Master Pastry Chef which services the Yacht and Beach Clubs resorts - for all weddings, conventions, restaurants and orders for the rooms in the 2 resorts.

Boardwalk Bakery DOES NOT bake for the Yacht and Beach Club they bake for the Boardwalk and the Bakery that sells on the Boardwalk. The Master Pastry Chef oversees that location also.

I have ordered many cakes at both the Yacht and Beach Club and they are baked freshly on site NOT delivered from the Boardwalk Bakery. My Fiance is a Chef at the Yachtsman so I know who bakes where.

I bet your wedding cake is going to be unbelievable!:thumbsup2

Thanks! I'm sure it will be. The Master Pastry Chef is purely incredible!! I'm honored that he will be making our wedding cake his attention to detail and cake flavor are 2nd to none in my opinion.

We can continue to have this argument until the cows come home. I know you are wrong about the *general* celebration cakes and you don't agree with me. Why on earth would the pastry chefs at BC just churn out cake after cake that are all similar? The cakes are, generally, made by a production bakery.

Oh, and guess what? Both the BW Bakery and private dining at BC told me this. I am not talking out of my rear end.

I am not saying that someone might not be able to arrange a special cake, a wedding cake or whatever, but your typical chocolate/chocolate and vanilla/vanilla with standard decoration comes from BW Bakery.

I try not to answer too many questions here, especially on this subject, anymore because of the rampant misinformation provided. The PP proved my point in my mind when the operator didn't know anything about the bakery and that is the only reason I spoke up. This poster always pops up to make sure everyone thinks I am wrong but whatever her purported inside info, I don't think it is true. Believe what you want though.

Happy cake eating, everyone!

Wow, if you dont believe from someone who works at a resort I dont know what to tell you! :confused3

Tink: Congrats on your nuptials and thank your Fiancee for me. (I think I had him once for an allergy issue)

I am the one who posted the picture of the Minnie Cake and it was made at the BC/YC(they share their facilities). It was not made at the BW bakery as I personally spoke to the person who made it. I was told it was made right there at the BC where I was staying. I am not sure if you are just talking about the typical 6" frozen cake, they probably do come from the BW(maybe this is what you are trying to say?:confused3) but I do know that my custom cake came from the same place that prepares the food for the Yachtsman Steakhouse. I am not sure if the BC/YC has their own "bakery" but they are able to make cakes on site. Either way, it doesn't matter if it's made at the BC or the BW, call private dining at the BC to order it, that's who I talked to!;)

I am not trying side against anyone as I know there are MANY times when I have personally been told one thing by one CM and another thing just a few minutes later!:goodvibes In the end, as long as you get your yummy, beautiful cake, it is all good!:grouphug:
