Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread Part II

I am so frazzed trying to keep up with all this stuff and recovering from surgery and we are now down to less than 5 weeks from our trip! Gah!!!!

I am trying desperately to put together some special things for DH and I. We will be doing a very late b'fast at 1900 and I am in love with the cakes I see GF bakery put out. Here is my quandry. I really love the castle cake that you can get there. I also am in love with the idea of the tuxedo strawberries with a hugging Minnie/Mickey on the plate. Can that be done (berries and M/M) for delivery to our room one day at WL and if so how? I tried calling the resort and the lady said to call the florist which makes no sense to me. I thought in room dining did that. If I can't get the hugging M/M at WL I think I would like that on a cake at 1900 instead of the castle. So confused.....lol

I also tried to call CaliGrille to set up something for our actual anniversary and they just don't answer the phone! So frustrating. I used the number listed on this site as the main restaurant number.

Also looking to do a special dessert, (not a cake), but to have one of the regular desserts jazzed up with special decorations when we dine at the Yachtsmen. Thoughts on whether that can be done?

This trip is so important. Our wedding was a disaster and we are the couple everyone said wouldn't make it. Guess who is laughing now! lol 25 years qualifies as "making it" in my book. I just want everything perfect for him.

Thanks for any help :worship: , thought :lovestruc , input:yay: anyone has. Our other special dining night is at Artist Pointe last night there but I think by then we will be "specialed" out.

Did you email them and they emailed you back? The way its worded, it looks like they emailed you. Could you please give me the email address. It would be a lot better for me to be able to email them then try to call them as my whole week is gonna be really busy. TIA!

EDIT: Never mind just called them.

Yes Sorry!!! Here's the latest from AKL!

The Zebra Cake is 6" round and 4" high and $40. Is is a vanilla cake
with an amarula mousse filling and glazed in white and dark chocolate to
make the zebra stripes. This is the only filling it comes with and that
is an alcoholic filling. The Mickey head cake is the same size as the
zebra cake and costs $48. Both cakes feed 8-10 people and are made here
at the resort in our bakery so it will just be noted that your son has a
peanut allergy and they will make sure that he will be able to enjoy the
cake as well. In room dining will supply the forks and plates for as
many people as you need when they deliver the cake. We do not do
anything different for breakfast in the concierge lounge but they might
do something at the restaurant if you have breakfast reservation for
that morning somewhere on property. Please
let us know what you would like to do for a cake and we can order it for
you. If you want something smaller you can get a 6" round cake for $21
that is either vanilla/vanilla or chocolate/chocolate that is smaller
than the other 2 cakes. It is made for 4-6 people.

Hopefully that helps someone out!

OK. Got my cake all ordered. I ordered the celebration cake for $21 (plus tax) and it was a 6in cake and I was able to inscribe it. I got the vanilla/vanilla. On it, its gonna say Happy Anniversary Teresa & Steven. They are gonna deliver it at 5pm on arrival day (Aug 5th), while DH and I are at Boma eating dinner. I just called AKL, and asked to speak to someone from in-room dining. The lady I talked to was VERY nice and sweet and very helpful. She asked me how many yrs we were celebrating and I said 4, and she was like and many more. Congrats sweetie and we look forward to seeing you on the 5th :goodvibes

Yes it was an email that I found in my inbox. It's from the IPO/club level group if that helps at all. Hopefully you were able to make your order and get the magic started!

I do not believe that WL will do the strawberries or the hugging M/M. They can do cakes but are fairly limited in what they will put on them - think writing and flowers only. When you called WL did you speak with In-Room dining? I'd first try calling back and speaking with In-Room Dining. Good luck.

Hi there!

Loving this thread and there are just so many gorgeous cakes making me very hungry!!!:rotfl:

We are having dinner at Crystal palace to celebrate my son's 3rd Birthday while on holiday in WDW this December and wondered if Disney would allow you to email a design to them to put on a birthday cake?

I'm not really sure what at the minute but hoping that someone over on the Creative Design Board will be able to help me out as they are just sooo talented. I just wondered if anyone knew if this was actually possible?

Thanks for any help

yes. Call the cake hotline and leave a message if you have to. When they call back ask for an e-mail to send your image to. I did that with 3 of the 6 cakes we had during vacation. See our cakes on post #229: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1859670&page=16

I have a question, I looked at your cakes on post #229 I really liked the cheesecake castle with the regular cake under it, I am going to order that for our trip in September, I would like to know if your cake had filling in it? I don't really care for filling.

The cheesecake was delicious - very creamy! We had vanilla cake with chocolate mousse as the filing - it was good too.

Hey PrincessMommyof3 you're real popular because I too would like to order your cake. :thumbsup2 Thought it would be perfect for our dual birthday celebration. Didn't you state that it was supposed to be all white? Love the chocolate. Any info would be soooo appreciated. How far out did you order? I think I'm getting pretty close. TIA,

Linda
Yes - it's funny b/c I ordered vanilla/vanilla to make it look like a wedding anniversary cake but they gave me this

and it was delicious!

Does anyone have any pics of what the $21 - 6 inch celebration cakes look like. Im just trying to get a general idea what mine will look like.

I'll try again for in-room dining and see what they say. I know one of the posters here has shown her photo of the strawberries there with Mickey but I want M/M together! lol I'll let you know if I have any luck.
Thx

Whooohoooo!!!!! I just spoke to Linda at GF bakery. What a sweetie pie!!!! I told her about these threads and how highly she is thought of and she was shocked! Hopefully she comes in and peaks at it for herself.

I ordered a cake for our special trip and will make sure to get pics of it. I told her the basics I was looking for and I'm sure she will make it just awesome! This is the cake I requested but with custard and strawberry filling and I told her to go ahead and decorate it as she saw fit for a 25th. Richard will be sooooo surprised! There has been a price increase....the cake with topper will be $70 but for this one time, its worth it to me!

Has anyone ordered a special cake from Yachtsman Steakhouse? We'd be doing it for 6. It's for my in-laws anniversary and we would like to do one with the castle on it and covered in fondant. :)

We will be celebrating our 45th Anniversary during our trip in September. We have ressies at 1900 Park Fare on the 25th and Coral Reef on the 26th. I would like to order a special cake for one of those days, but I'm not sure which one would be the best. I have also read that you can have a special menu prepared at Coral Reef as well as a diver with a sign. Any help will be appreciated.

We had our anniversary dinner at 1900 Park Faire last night. I ordered the mini castle cheese cake. We were pretty full, so I was so glad I did not order a bigger "cake". This was just right. The icing on it was like velvet, so smooth, And the cheesecake was so yummy and creamy. Really good.
I will try to post a picture later. We are still in our room at Pop and checking out this morning.

Blessings,
Winnie

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY-Ü Did you order this cake from the GF bakery? It will be just my husband and myself--is it enough for the two of us with (hopefully) not much left over?
May I ask what the cost was? Thanks

Coral Reef offers the diver who can carry a sign with a personalized message during your meal, if they are available. You have to call the Coral Reef restaurant directly and have your ressie number with you. If you can get ahold of Debbi, she has a wonderful reputation on these boards but we are no longer allowed to give out her direct number. You will probably have to leave a message. Tell them your name, the date and time of your ressie, the ressie number, your special occasion, and I left my email address. They emailed me back in a few days. I think that email is their prefered communication. They do personalize menus also, you just tell them the above info and email them the photos you want on the menu. If you have more questions, there is an entire thread for the Coral Reef Diver, if you search for it, it'll pop up. Hope this helps! :)

(I think the "U" is a smiley face)
