We had our anniversary dinner at 1900 Park Faire last night. I ordered the mini castle cheese cake. We were pretty full, so I was so glad I did not order a bigger "cake". This was just right. The icing on it was like velvet, so smooth, And the cheesecake was so yummy and creamy. Really good.
I will try to post a picture later. We are still in our room at Pop and checking out this morning.

Blessings,
Winnie

First off, Happy Anniversary!!!!!!!!

Second, was the frosting on your cake Buttercreme?
I also would love to know how you ordered and price.
Can't wait to see pics :)

My husband and I will be celebrating our 15th on August 11th at Narcoosee. So I called the "hotline" followed all the promts, and I got an operator that was trying to sell me the six inch cake. She told me to just request it at the podium. I was like "no no, I want a custom cake", so she connected me to Linda. I just left her a voice mail. Hopefully, she'll get back to me soon!

I just wanted to let you all know that I ordered my special desserts and cakes this morning. :yay: I called the cake hotline and got an answer each time. Everyone was really nice and though they inform you of their 6 inch celebration cakes, no one really tried to sell me on one.:thumbsup2
And by the way Boma and GF both asked for a CC #, the rest just the ADR#. My vacation plans are now complete. Just have to sit back, relax and count the days,:woohoo:and of course I'll post pics when I get back.:goodvibes

OK, I just got off the phone with Linda at GF, and quite frankly, to get any information out of her was like pulling teeth. First she was just trying to get me to get the six inch cake, and to just ask for it at the podium when we checked in. When I asked about the mini castle cake, she said it was not a cake at all, but an individual dessert. I told her I had seen pictures of it, and she said "Oh, you mean on the disboards?" and I said yes, then she said, "those pictures are enhanced to look bigger, the mini castle cake would not be big enough for two people to have dessert." She then told me that the mini castle cake was only two inches big. For those of you who have gotten it, is this true?
I was kind of flabbergasted by this point, and really didn't know what to say.
So then I asked about the small cake with minnie and mickey on it, with the fondant icing and mickey stamps. She then proceeded to ask me "were you married here at WDW?" I told her no and I really didn't understand why she was asking me this.
So I told her that I wanted the minnie/mickey fondant cake with silver stamps, and she told me it would be 70.00. That is fine.
But now I am re-thinking the whole thing.
All I really wanted was the mini castle cake, (without any cake underneath it). But I just feel like she had an attitude. I feel like cancelling the whole thing.

I just had the castle cake in may. The cake itself is about the size of a cupcake. The white chocolate castle is hollow, and about 2" tall.

When you ordered it, did they try to get you to order 2 of them?
She was trying to get me to order two of them.
I didn't want 2!
That is why I just went with the other cake.
This is so stressful! And this is supposed to be a celebration!

I almost called Linda this morning when the woman who answered the phone couldn't really give me much information. I kind of wanted the cake like PrincessMommyof3 had but there are only 3 of us and this is intended for a breakfast at GF Cafe then a full day at the parks after. In the end it made sense just the order the mini's, We'll probably be full after breakfast anyway. Even if they are small, I still love the look of them and can't wait for ours. But I guess we should remember they don't call them "mini" for nothing.:goodvibes

Man after reading all the posts of you all having problems, Im soooooooo happy I was able to talk to a very nice lady from in-room dining at AKL yesterday to order my cake. I think that if I had gotten someone rude, that would have just ruined it for me :sad2: and I would have just gaven up and saved the money and just spent the money on something else. Maybe Linda and the chefs at the GF are getting sick of all the cake orders. I mean people are ordering cakes just to order one. People are ordering cakes to celebrate a b-day or anniversary when its really not their bday or anniversary. I think a lot of people are taking the whole cake ordering for granted and pretty soon Disney just might stop doing cake orders altogether. Why else do you think they switched to Sara Lee cakes. They are getting bombarded with cake orders.

I am with you on that! I feel like saving my money! I am considering cancelling the whole cake thing and just ordering dessert if I feel like it!

Wow! I'm sorry! If you read my previous post you'll see that I just talked to her yesterday and she was awesome! The cake you are describing with the stamps and such is the cake I ordered for our anniversary trip next month and I had told her how highly she was spoken of on the Disboards. I can't imagine what would have made her act so unkind when all I said were good things about people's impressions of her on here.

If you want the cake, don't let one bad convo ruin your plans. I'm thinking ours through only because the more I think about spending $70 after already having a great meal, I'm wondering if it will be worth it. That is money that I could use to buy an awesome keepsake of our trip, or a lovely bottle of wine/champagne, or, or, or....... I'm getting unsettled about it mostly because of the expense. I just had an amazing cake made for my in-laws 50th anny party here and a cake for 150 people cost us just over $100. Every minute I'm having a harder time justifying this cost.......... *sigh*

She then proceeded to ask me "were you married here at WDW?" I told her no and I really didn't understand why she was asking me this.

If you have been married at WDW and wish to re-create the top layer of your wedding cake, the bakery can pull the information from your wedding file.

The reason the cake is so expensive is that it's covered in fondant. The style you want is called Mickey's Delight, and it costs $8.50 per slice. That size will serve about 8 people, so that's about $68 right there. Plus they may be charging you for the topper.

When you have a wedding at WDW, you come to expect high prices..... I'm sorry you're having so much trouble.

I just got off the phone with the cake hotline and I think who ever I talked to was new. She kept putting the phone down and asking someone questions.

I orderd a 6" vanilla buttercreme for a couple of friends 1st wedding anniversary. First she said it couldn't be personalized, then came back and asked what I wanted them to write on it. $21 plus tax.

Which is exactly why I ordered 2 mini castle cakes.:) Takes the worry and some of the cost out. Now I have to worry about next year because I really wanted an extravagant cake for our 20th anniversary.:goodvibes Oh well.

I am not concerned about the cost of the cake, it is a very special occasion. It is more about the level of customer service I received. I just felt like she was trying to get me off the phone and trying to get me to order the pre-made cakes at the podium when I check in. I read that they are now now made by Sara Lee!
At any rate, I did order the "Mickey's Delight" as you call it, done in silver. It is our 15th anniversary, not our 25th, but I just love how the silver looked. I ordered the marble cake with butter creme frosting. Hopefully the cake will taste so delicious that I will forget all about this!

I'm SUPER EXCITED!

I just got off the phone with Linda from the cake hotline. She was AWESOME!!! :thumbsup2

I ordered the anniversary cake with the mickey topper as a suprise for my husband when we eat at Narcoossees.

It was only $70!!!

Not bad for special flavor that's customized, covered in fondant, and personalized!

I can't wait!!!

Lol I kinda wonder who I talked to...

Does anyone have a pic of just the 6" vanilla buttercreme so I have an idea of what I ordered for my friends? Thanks!

Which flavors did you pick? She rattled them off so fast to me, I just picked marble with buttercreme filling.

I did a custom flavor. My husband didn't get to try our wedding cake so I'm re-creating the flavor he picked...
Chocolate cake with strawberry mousse filling. Sounds weird, but he loves it. :confused3

You are an evil woman! Now you got me thinking into trying to re-create our wedding cake as well. So now I am having chocolate cake, with butter creme filling with fresh raspberrries fondant icing and gold stamps.

OK, I have a couple of questions, so the mini castle cake that is cheescake, is it made by Sara Lee now? Also the 6" cakes do they have to have filling in them? Are they made at Disney or by Sara Lee? We ordered the mini castle for our night at Narcoosee's but I now I am re-thinking it, I would rather not have something that is made by Sara Lee, I really don't care for their stuff.
