Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

Our family stayed in building 5 on July 4th and it was a renovated room. It had the Murphy bed . It was our first time staying at Pop Century... we loved it.
Yeah, POP has that affect on people. LOL We have stayed there 5 out of our last 6 trips, we really like the resort, the food and we love the skyliner, it's a game changer for us.

There is a good chance it will be finished. At the current pace, buildings are taking 4-6 weeks to complete and we had first reports of a wing building 4 being shut down as of July 4th. Hoping it is finished between mid-late Aug.

Also, contrary to some information, there have been many reports of refurbishments starting just one wing of a building prior to the entire building being closed for renovations. This has been reported for 3/4 buildings so far so we know they sometimes start with just one wing at first.

Here is one of a few such reports:
Yes this is true I was there 6/10-12 and stayed ground floor in Bldg 3 and work was going in building all around me. It was a bit of a pain going roundabout way back and forth to room as most corridors were blocked off.

Thank you!

I will say I was thinking of requesting the 70’s section if building 4 and/or 5 are being worked on during our visit but, guessing the construction might cut off some if the paths we use to move between buildings.

The path along the lake is far enough from the buildings that it doesn’t seem to be affected by the construction but I know they do block some but not all corridors in the buildings they are working on.

I used to only stay at POFQ but needed to save a bit of money last year and we were doing mostly Epcot and Hollywood Studios so PoP fit the bill. Now I don't even price POFQ and will only do PoP. Epcot is my favorite part by far so it only makes sense. I do miss the boat to Disney Springs though.

We will still do a Mod, especially one of the PO resorts, but we have found our niche with POP. Barely even think about any of the deluxes anymore. Just not worth it for us, the only thing that is tempting is the extra evening hours, and then that's only for 2 nights during a week.

Generally is it running around 2 months to complete a building?
Seems to be approx 6 weeks from start to end as they normally start with a single wing then eventually close all rooms and work on the elevators too.

More than one building is often being worked on at the same time but so far there has never been 2 complete buildings closed at the same time.

The details and dates of the refurbishment are being closely tracked in the thread referenced in the post above.

Is there any grocery or convenience store that is walkable from Pop? We won't be renting a car and don't need much other than some beverages to keep in the room.

Unfortunately no, nothing at all. You will need to either use a grocery delivery service or Uber somewhere. I’m in the process of figuring this out for our upcoming visit too.

We are in the same situation as you for our August trip, so we booked a car service that included a grocery store stop on the way to Pop Century from MCO.

The short answer is no, however we have gone to Beach club (they have more because it's a dvc resort) and gotten a half gallon of milk and a few other things and taken it back on the skyliner.

In addition to the small grocery stores at the DVC resorts (including Riviera as well as BC and Boardwalk), there’s a gas station convenience store that’s a short walk from BW. It’s not very convenient if you’d have a heavy case of water, for instance, to haul back with you, though!

Hi everyone! We usually stay deluxe/moderate but had a flight issue and had to come back and are staying here for 2 nights. We are in building 4, second floor. I actually am very impressed with this resort except that we could not sleep. There was a constant water flowing sound, toilets flushing, doors slamming, noises all night. ALL night. We can hear every single thing, every small sound is so loud. We are not light sleepers and come to Disney a lot and have never experienced this. Is this normal or are we just unlucky? I have a pounding headache and still have one more night here :( I would stay here again if there is a certain building/floor to avoid this

We have stayed at Pop 4 times and have never experienced anything like that. Hopefully we don’t on our upcoming Nov vacation either.
Oh good! We really like the resort and are hoping we just got unlucky. Maybe I can try a top floor next time. But it sounded like it was coming from everywhere. They are doing work but I doubt in the middle of the night so I don’t think it was that

POP is definitely our favorite Value and yes we heard water or flushing some times but it never stopped us from sleeping. There are a lot of light sleepers that posted they close their bathroom doors in the room and that helped a lot. Yes you can hear the room next to you door when it slams, but again, not enough to stop us from sleeping. Our noisiest stay was at AKL where our neighbors were very load and it was even worse when they were on the balcony, thank goodness they left 2 days into our trip or else we would have got a different room. Maybe bring a sound machine to help. I read a lot of posts of posters that they hear every little sound at the values, but not our family.

Good to know! We’ve never had an issue at any resort, maybe it was just the people above us in and out all night

Thank you everyone for your replies! We will definitely give it another shot another time!
