Official 2016 - Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend

I submitted my last half, 2:35 at the Diva Dash in San Juan. I am not sure if my daughter submitted a time since her last half was over a year. Her last Disney half was in 2012 and it was 2:21. I am hoping to be around 2:45 -with lots of fun photo stops.

Thanks for clarifying the course. I thought DL was first. The quick in and out of DL reminds me of the Princess half, the park in the MK- grab a photo in front of the castle and out.

@courtneybeth , thank you... now to discover which parking lot is Lilo. I have run the 5K's before so I know where we end up... although getting there in a way other than being directed to it (right after they give you the post race snack) might be difficult. Is that the lot you're talking about? Non runners can go there?

I find this map helpful. http://track.rtrt.me/e/WDW-SH-2016#/map

You can turn on/off the courses by clicking on them in the legend at the bottom of the page and then zoom in as needed. Hopefully that can give you a better idea as to where the finish chute will be.

Yes, it's the lot you're basically forced into when you get the post-race snack and all the runners are sitting down exhausted :P

This year E is <2:43 and F is <2:45, so apparently, there were a lot of people who submitted POT's that were in that range! According to Macmillan, a 2:43 HM translates to a 1:13:07 10K and 2:45 to a 1:14:01 10K, so the difference in E and F might be less than a minute in submitted 10k times. So much depends on the other runners' times and the way corrals are set up!

So my point is -- Do the best YOU can do and have fun! I'll see you there in 2 weeks. I'll be the one in running shoes!

This is good to know! I was in corral G for disneyland half this past year and my new goal is to break into the 2:44:59 corral -- which is less than 8 minutes to shave off my half time or 3.5 minutes on my 10K.

I'm going to be following the 2:45 pacer this weekend at RNR Los Angeles to see how it feels to up my speeds just a little bit now that I have the endurance to run 19.3 miles on a weekend.

Appreciate your insight into the corral placements :D

Thanks for the course link! I like to mentally prepare ahead of time so that is great! are we gonna get water station info tho? I like to do my last long run practicing fueling and hydration to match race day...

So excited! Got my hair died red this week to match my black widow 5k costume. (It's usually red anyhow but I died it different this summer for a change).

The course map posted on the runDisney site has the water stops and first aid stations on the map.

It would be nice if they could have all the information in one place and not have so many different things to search to find the answers.

Two water stations on the 10K: Mile 2.5 and 4.75. :(

Yep. Bring your own water in case you need to hydrate. At least the med station (?) looks to be at the half way point on the course this go around.

I'm looking through the event guide right now and it mentioned something about commemorative ears will be available to pick up - Did I just not see that as a pre-purchase option when signing up? I don't believe I have ever seen any specific ears to race weekends before - have I just missed them before this?

I know they have Ears for the some of the kids races....

Correct me if I'm wrong. But I think the ears were offered for the kids races.

I found the event guide. Not sure why they haven't linked to it on the event page. http://rodale-usa.instantmagazine.com/rundisney/dlshhm16#!/
So I think I realized why they haven't actually linked it to the event page yet - some of the info is missing. Page 14 discusses the Expo - there is no exhibit hall info. No list of vendors, map, anything beyond the basics of the packet pickup. I don't understand why they would make the link "live" if they weren't ready to release it yet, but to me, it looks like the missing info about the Expo is the reason why they haven't linked it yet. Probably thinking we wouldn't have found it without their link - don't underestimate the DIS! :lmao:

Haha!!! :rotfl2: Now that section of the event guide is totally blank (except for their picture of WOC) - at least according to my computer. They are probably still working on everything and thought we weren't going to find it without their link.

I noticed that blank page. The "click to enlarge corral map" link doesn't work either. I can't think of a good reason for the link to be live while they're building it. What an odd way to do things.

I'm getting SO excited! My costume is ready. I feel great about my training. We have our dining reservations all ready.
So on the course I'm assuming we will see several Marvel characters, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Sipder-Man.
A survey from runDisney last year asked about having Mickey and Friends dressed as Avengers so I hope that becomes a reality.
And I know it might hurt a bit... But it would be fun to have the Gaurdians of the Galaxy out by the Tower Terror. (Plus it would be good marketing for the new ride just a few months away.)

Incredibly weird. Just doesn't seem as the most professional way of doing things. It looks like it is back up though (as of Sunday afternoon). It still says that more info about the Expo is coming but there is a map of the exhibit hall now.

That is so awesome!!! I'm doing a test run with my costume this afternoon. I would've done it over the weekend but it has been raining off and on around here (yay rain!!!!!:cool1::banana:) and I wanted to snuggle with my kitties instead. :lmao:

I would love to see Mickey & Friends dressed as the Avengers! That would be so awesome!

@ten6mom - you can definitely wait in the esplanade with a sign and noise maker to cheer him (and us other runners!) on. You can then head back to the family reunion area at the finish line. I believe this is in the LILO parking lot. Find a designated spot to meet by and you'll have an idea of when he finishes because you can track him. It may take 5 mins to go from the finish line to meet you because it's a looooong walk.

Thank you both for this information.

Now, a more detailed question or two.

If I wait in the Esplanade to see him run through, does anyone know how I actually GET to that parking lot on foot?

AND, If I wanted to wait closer to the end in the DTD area, is there anyway to both wait there AND meet him in the family reunion area? I mean, a) would I have time to get there, and b) what path/route would I have to take?

Thanks again for all your assistance!
