Official 2016 - Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend

Thank you both for this information.

Now, a more detailed question or two.

If I wait in the Esplanade to see him run through, does anyone know how I actually GET to that parking lot on foot?

AND, If I wanted to wait closer to the end in the DTD area, is there anyway to both wait there AND meet him in the family reunion area? I mean, a) would I have time to get there, and b) what path/route would I have to take?

Thanks again for all your assistance!

I have only spectated for one 10K at Disneyland, and I chose a spot slightly after the finish line, so I could snap photos of my friend as she crossed for her first runDisney race. That being said, looking at the map closely, it appears as though there are walkways that would allow you to get from the esplanade to the reunion area. I am not sure if it my lack of familiarity or "way too early in the morning" brain, but runDisney seems to route runners to the start and away from the finish different all the time.

Official Event Guide link is active (on RunDisney site) :)

Glancing through it.....
The park hours don't show up on page six. You have to click on the park and a secondary window pops open.
On page 14, bib pick up locations, I see a spot for the Castle to Chateau, but not Castle to Castle....that's the entire reason why I am doing this particular race.

Got the big race email... anyone else starting to get excited? :)
Most definitely!!!!!!!! I did a test run with my costume yesterday and everything seems to be alright. I did get quite a bit of stares from the people in the neighborhood wondering why I was in a black tank, black skirt (Sparkleskirt), and a black and silver w/ a red star, arm sleeves. :rotfl2:

In looking at the weather for the next weekend - it looks to be in the upper 70s/low 80s for the highs and upper 50s for the lows. Pretty decent temps overall but it looks like it is calling for rain on Sunday for those in the Half. :sad2: Here's hoping for some pixie dust that the forecast changes for all of you running in the Half or at the very least, the rain holds off until after you are finished. pixiedust: Goodness knows, we need the rain but you guys don't need it while you are running.

Same here.

I'm sure it will be down there when we pick up our bibs. Probably next to the Castle to Chateau.

I am certain there would be an uprising if they didn't have it. "Have fun storming the castle!" [/Princess Bride]

"It would take a miracle. Buh-bye!"
:rotfl2::lmao:As soon as I read that, I had Billy Crystal and Carol Cane in my head. Thank you, you have now made me want to watch the Princess Bride when I get home tonight. Side note: Have you read Cary Elwes's book about The Princess Bride?

Do you mean Coast-to-Coast?
You will get a wristband when you get your bib.
Then you go through a specific chute at after you get your half medal, the will look you up and award you the medal.
Easy to spot - lots of signs .

Yes! I assumed @jeanigor was referencing coast to coast (since Raw Threads calls the coast to coast castle to castle!) We were wondering why a Castle to Chateau booth at pick-up, but no Coast to Coast. Maybe they need a separate booth because the DL Paris event is run separately? Do they hand you the Coast to Coast wristband right away when you get your bib - no need to stop at another booth to get it?

I don't seem to be talented enough to add a photo to this post- but yes they will give you a plastic wristband for your coast-to-coast when you get your bib. You can not remove it until after the race.

Not sure why Chateau is different- you never can tell what RD will do from race to race!

Weather conditions look warm - anticipate highs of 88 for the half (ouch!)

The 10K weather looks good. It's So Cal so weather can change at any time - but I am looking forward to cooler temps. Come on weather!

I was reading through the event guide today and saw that wearing headphones is discouraged because of announcements made during the race (I'm running the 10K). I was planning on wearing headphones - not for music - but for runKeeper to tell me my intervals (I'm doing run 1 min/walk 1 min intervals). I figured that having headphones I would actually hear the app tell me the intervals, and I wouldn't disturb other runners with them. I'm running with my husband, so I'm not planning on having any music going at all..it'll be silent except for the interval announcements. Is that OK? Or should I plan on doing something else?

For those of you planning on carrying water - what do you use? I haven't been using anything at home...no need on the 30 min training runs, and on the distance runs DH and I have gone together so we've had DD's stroller to put water bottles in.

Any race etiquette (not in the event guide) that a total newbie should know about? This is my first race of any kind! TIA :)

Hi @Angel Ariel -- wear your headphones. I've never had a problem with them telling us otherwise!

As for the water, I have a flip belt and have the 6oz flask-shaped bottle designed for it that slides in. It'll hold some gatorade so I am getting some extra electrolytes. I'll have a pink belt like this model, but only one bottle. This lasts me for a half marathon.

@Angel Ariel, if you are used to running with your headphones, keep them. In my nearly 40 rD distance runs, I have gone without them twice. Once, my iPod didn't charge (incentive for me to get the "brand new iPhone 3 back in the day) and once when the cord went kaput around mile 8 of the DLP half. Be sure your volume is at a level where you are able to hear what i going on around you.

As for additional etiquette, follow common sense (to me) and the golden rule. Don't stop abruptly, as you will most likely have someone plow into you. If you stop for photos, offer to take someone's photo, they (or someone behind you) will offer to take yours.

Does anyone have experience with purchasing tickets offsite? Mousesavers recommends aRes Travel. It would save my family about $108. We always get APs at WDW so this is new.

We always use GetTravel for tickets during races. They have good discounts and have a booth right at the expo for pick up. I believe the last email I got from them indicated you can still purchase tickets until 11/7/2016.
