Official 2016 5th Anniversary Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

Weird that these are up before the Dark Side courses are (I know the Dark Side courses were in the Event Guide, but as far as I know they haven't been uploaded to USATF).

Less park time? Booo!! Due to construction I guess?
Yeah, construction took a lot out. We used to go back behind IASW and then up through the barnyard area and I might be mixing up courses, but also along Frontierland over to Splash and backstage out to DTD. I've seen some pics of the construction area on Miceage and the service roads are still there, but I'm guessing too much of a hazard w/ all the tractors and stuff.

I kinda like the Dooneys too, I just don't know if enough to buy one. If they're there and I like them maybe, but if they're sold out, I'm okay.

No Anaheim Stadium and lots of old town Anaheim. Very interesting. Can't wait to see what the 10K has in store. Downtown and old town Anaheim is a fun area - I used to drive it on the way home from work every day before we moved. It'll be a lot of fun streets.

Edit: I wonder if this will change for Disneyland Half too.

Correct me if i am wrong... But i don't think tink half ever went to Anaheim Stadium. Also, i think on the blog there is a map of the 10k below the half course

I loved last year's, too! I think, for me, it's going to come down to what it looks like in person and if there are any available at expo. I'm not a "must have this merchandise" person (and I'm totally not judging those who really get into it), but if it jumps into my shopping cart at expo what can I do? ;)
I'm trying to get away from being a "must have this merchandise" person...it's tough!

Ah, that makes sense. I haven't been paying a ton of attention to where the construction is in either of the resorts. :)

I think you're right about the stadium not being a part of the course in the past.

I can imagine! And no judgment from me, really, if I had the resources, I probably would, too. Unfortunately, marine biology isn't the glamorous, high-paying gig you might think it would be. ;) But this year, I feel very fortunate because I used to think that 2 rD race weekends a year was extravagance, and this year I'm doing FOUR. An embarrassment of rD riches for me this year.

Dooney & Bourke purses are up for sale on the Run Disney web site - with pictures!

That 10K course is spectacular.

I see myself flying to 1:20. Come on race, get here already!

You're right. Tink never went to Anaheim Stadium. Only DL Half and Avengers. I know lots of people didn't like the Avengers course but I thought it was cool, and the stadium was a big part of that. But SW is still my favorite course!

Ahh, that's why I am confused. All of these races blend together. D'oh!

Hi,

One of my running partners would like to defer her entry to next year. Does anyone know how she can do that? Is there a button that will show up after registration has closed?

TIA!
Karen

They will (hopefully) post the deferral link sometime over the next week or so. It'll be in the Tink section of runDisney.com. :)

So last chance registration..that's seems crazy, but a smaller race crowd sounds wonderful. I look at previous year finishers and it seems much smaller than the Princess...by at least half. I ran the first Princess with only 6000 runs and the second years only had around 11,000 and that was really pretty nice. But with the parks in the first few miles, I guess it can get a bit crowded early on and then thin out on the road part??

Having the race on Mother's Day is just not... smart. So many people don't want to run on Mother's Day. Move the weekend! :P

I've always wondered if you registrar this late, do you submit proof of time when you sign up or are you automatically in the last corrals?

The Disneyland races are normally smaller than the WDW races, from what I understand.

You're right about it thinning out after the parks...for the Disneyland Half, the first 4 miles or so were in the parks, and the rest were out in Anaheim. I had a crazy negative split for that race. :)

I think that's what the April 18 cut-off is for - they need to print bibs, finalize corrals, etc. So I'm guessing we won't be seeing waivers and corrals until sometime that week. :confused3

Don't know, but I had quite an email exchange with track shack about corral placement. I didn't sign up until March, after the Feb 2 deadline to submit POT, and they said to put my time in on the registration and they would check it for proper placement. I am anxious to see if they give me proper corral placement. Only time will tell.....

I was hoping to see Bib numbers soon but I'm guessing not until after April 18th for sure now.

I emailed runDisney a while back about the corrals after the cutoff date for a different race (Princess) when my friend was going to sign up through a TA after the corral cutoff date and this was their response:

Hello Megan,

Thank you for contacting us. Great question. No, your friend would not automatically be in the last corral for the race. She would need to provide the travel operator her proof of time, and we would verify this before assigning her the appropriate corral; it would be very important she provide her proof correctly the first time, as once it is entered no changes can be made since it is past the deadline.

Happy New Year!

Thank you,
runDisney

My friend is a sub 1:40 for the half and she was placed in corral A so I guess it all worked out.
