Official 2012 Wine and Dine ½ Marathon Thread

Did my 11 mile run today at a 10:15 pace. Up to 12 miles next Friday, and then I taper off for the week leading up to the race. Where I run has quite a few hills, so I think I have trained quite well.

Set a goal to finish my first half in 2:30 or less, and I am well on my way to doing that I think.

Wow, you're doing great! I seem to be hitting a wall and can't get under an 11:05 pace. I think you're well on your way to hitting your goal!

That is how I do it- I will run 10 Sunday or Monday and then I am tapering off until the race. After Monday nothing more than 6.5 until race day :)

Yep, me too. I'll do 10-12 (depending on how bad it's raining) then taper off with no more than 5 until race day.

Good luck everyone on your final preparations!

Heading out to do my 14 mile run shortly. It's highly tempting to either stay home or cut it back, but I keep reminding myself that 13.1 on race day will be shorter than 14 tonight. I've come too far and invested too much to not go for it now. The real reward comes in 2 weeks.

Yes, good luck and let us know how it goes!!

I completed the Run Like Hell 5k here in Cincinnati in 32:28. It was dark through the cemetery but street lights were plenty adequate for the rest of the course. Not only did I get to do a dark run, but cold and rain as well. I had a blast!

I'll do 10-12 miles this weekend and 4-6 miles next weekend for my long runs. I can't believe we are just 2 weeks out! :cheer2:

We did our last long run last night -13.1 since we did it after a full day of work. It went great, I'm just a little sore and not eating much still but that should pass soon. Good luck to everyone! :thumbsup2 flying out tonight, we will see you all at the race!

Pushed myself to the full 14 miles. It was actually 'easier' than last week's 12.5 miles, which I suspect is because my training dipped the two weeks prior to last week because of a work deadline. There were times when I wanted to end it, but kept telling myself that the endurance will pay off in 2 weeks. Somewhere around 11 miles or so, I got a second wind to carry me through to the end.

So far, the weather forecast says 58 at night in Orlando! I cannot wait. This race has no taper, 15 miles next weekend, 4-7-3 during the week, and then the W&D. The joys of marathon training! But at least after that long run I get two medals... Coast to coast!

Ran 14 this morning. I've never run more than 13.1 so pretty proud of myself! Wasn't able to wear my new race clothes for practice since it was 25 degrees. (Experiencing our first freezes of the season in Colorado). My new sports bra held up well anyway!

Man, been fighting a nasty cold..sore throat, coughing, etc...so that has cut into my training!!:mad:I fly out next Monday, so I'm hoping to feel well enough to do alot of walking around the parks. I hate feeling sick:sick:

My cold just started yesterday. Also dealing with calf/knee pain. W&D will be my 8th 1/2 marathon this year so I know I can do it, just may not be my fastest of the year. But my first C2C medal is a great carrot to chase!

Good grief if it isn't one thing, it's another.

Knee was messed up one week (skipped that week to not hurt it any further...it has not been an issue since)

Then I had the flu (still ran about 6 miles or so, but I didn't have enough stamina to keep going. I know I would have been fine if I was healthy as I have done it before without a problem).

Now it was FREEZING outside today. I still ran, but it was tough...felt like it was tearing up my lungs. When I was done, I asked DH about it since he is used to running long distances (used to be a cross country runner). I told him I would have no problem when it was in the 50s or 60s, but today I felt like I was really struggling out there. He said he had the same problem if the temps dipped too low, or if he was running inside. So it was encouraging to know that I wasn't just going crazy and my body decided it gave up on all the training I did. Apparently it just doesn't like it being super cold. On the plus side, my sleeves worked out well! :)

That stinks. Hope you feel better.

Neighbor girl came over last week to play with my daughter. I flipped out when she started hacking up this horrible cough. Poor girl was almost in tears when I realized I was lecturing her about how to cover up that cough, or "stay home until you are well. Some of us have really important things coming up and don't want to be sick too."

I apologized and then disappeared to the other side of the house.

Waking up after running 14 yesterday and OWE my body hurts. We are going to Boo at the Zoo today so guess its good practice for walking the park after race day.

Everyone at work is sick, so I'm trying to do all I can (Vitamin C, washing hands, etc) to stay away from it.

Did my 11.5 yesterday but my running partner had to back out with achilles pain, so I had to go at it alone. It's always my worst training run, so wasn't surprised when I gave out around mile 8 and decided to walk the last part. With Sandy hitting in the next few days (we're on outskirts, rain and wind here) just hoping I can get outside or to the gym for my weekly runs.

Keep going everyone - it's almost here!

Hi, for those of you still working on what you are wearing for the WnD, I just posted a brand new RunningSkirts brand skirt on ebay. Cute! White with multi colored hearts. Size Large. Check it out. Goes perfect with thier compression socks. Search "running skirt triathlon".

One of the best parts of having my own office with a door: I can quarantine myself the second I hear a sniffle.

I work at a recreation center and everybody in his brother is sick! I have the next 3 days off, so I'll be resting the entire time. Hoping to kick it out of my system by the 5th!:goodvibes Hope everyone feels better and ready for the W&D!:thumbsup2:cool1:

Well, we did 11 today. I was not feeling it, at all. Just kept pushing. Somebody on here said, "It will pay off in two weeks." I kept saying that in my head, over and over. Holy stomach/intestine cramps, batman. Started right after stopping/cool down at end. Drank plenty of fluids yesterday/today. Had to of been something I ate. I have GOT to figure out race day nutrition, so I'm not feeling this way again. Down for the count for the rest of the day. As much as I'd like to do the after party, I'm doubting that I'll go. I'm pretty whipped after these last long runs and in no frame of mind to go "walk around for a while." Oh well, at least I'm going to cross the finish line and have that medal around my neck. :)
