Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

Me, too! Even our cat and mouse are boys!

I feel your pain. After the male dog, cat, rabbit, and even leopard gecko, i finally bought home a female kitten a couple of years ago just to have someone on my team!

You should have seen the looks on the boys' faces when i told them i was running in soemthing called a Princess half-marathon. One of them even had the lack of tact to say "You?" and roll his eyes. Then i told them we would balance it out by catching the Mets Braves spring training game that afternoon and everyone exhaled a little. Of course, they don't know i am wearing a sparkly pink tutu to the game, and a baseball jersey to the race.:rotfl:

P.S. sorry, everyone, for the serial posts. i was having trouble putting multiple quotes in a single post.

I am planning on wearing it as long as I can. We are staying until Wednesday and am thinking I might wear it that long. I would love to, but I am thinking that may be a bit overkill?

Most definitely not overkill! Look at it this way: Sunday is a big turnover day at Disney, so on Monday there will be a lot of new people who have not had a chance to admire your royal bling. Then, with 4 different parks, you'll need to wear it for at least 4 days to make sure everyone has a fair chance to bask in its (and your) glory.

I know nothing about Garmins, but like others have stated, rely on the treadmill for my pace numbers etc.

So my question is . . . does the Garmin 305 or 205 need a foot pod? Are they easy to set-up? And which one would you recommend?

Oh how I love this!!!! YES!!! Between the sparkle skirt, the princess t, the tiara and the medal, I'm probably going to be blinging all.day.long. It's the ONE day I can! :cool1: I too have only boys in our family! 3 kids, 1 male puppy, and the hubby...well, I'm outnumbered. This is MY time and I'm going to wear my sparkles with pride!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I have the Garmin 305 with the foot pod but I never use the foot pod. The foot pod is only for when you are on the treadmill so I just use the pace on the threadmill to know how I'm doing (I find it pretty accurate). When you are running outside you don't need the foot pod since the Garmin is basically a gps and tracks your distance/pace. I love mine and don't know how I would run (not on threadmill) without it ;)

Well, I got the final installment of scheduled runs from my trainer today that will take me up to race day...I totally teared up at work while I was reading it! Way back in July when I decided I was going to do this it seemed like the date was just sooooooo far away, but man it has gone by in a snap! I'm getting so anxious!

Holy smokes you guys. It is COOOOLLLD in South Korea. Like the coldest winter in 50 some years. Of course that happens the winter I decided to train for a half marathon right? So today I had no choice but to do my long run on the treadmill. 3 of us did a 7 miler on the river trails on Monday as a group and there were tears and melt-downs. It was NOT a good day. So I did 12 miles on a treadmill. It was Draconian. Like I felt like I was on there for HOURS and I was! Got through it by slinging my ipad over the top of the TM and watching horrible reality TV. Toddlers and Tiaras, Cake Boss, the list goes on and on. It was fascinating and horrible at the same time, but it got me through it and the ipad covered up the time I had left to run thank God! Here's hopin' for an early Feb heat wave for next week!

I have the Garmin 305 and I'm a techie IDIOT and i was able to get it all set up. Now, grant it, i'm sure there is MUCH more that I can do with it than I do, but I LOVE it.... I never trusted the treadmill and had this horrible feeling that they treadmill was setting me up!!! My Garmin and the treadmill have been pretty close to each other but I tend to go with the Garmin (it seems to give me better numbers!!!)

So agree with this. When I started using my Garmin (FR60W) with the foot-pod which the guy at my LRS helped me calibrate correctly, I discovered that I was actually running a few tenths of a mile faster than the treadmill said I was. Over a 45-50 minute workout, that adds up.

LOVE IT!!! who did them for you?

Thanks guys! One of my Aussie teammates went back home to Australia for 5 weeks over Christmas break and she had them done there. I thought she did such a great job! The design is on the back since our bibs will be on the front.

MISSINWDW - That is FABULOUS!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 A meeting I had for today just got cancelled, so guess who is going to the craft store!!! Everyone else, post pics so we can all be inspired! (And so we can possibly spot each other!)

I haven't been able to figure out how to post a picture either...how did you get it to work?

Not sure if you guys made your hotel reservations yet, but it is less expensive to use the discount on Disney's web page then to use the Marathon discount.
I just booked two extra days :woohoo: we'll be staying at a value resort for Thursday and Friday nights and then be moving 'home' to the AKL.
Can't wait!!!!

If you go to the main page of the DISboards there is a sticky right at the top. Inside is a link to a video tutorial that shows you just how to do it. You have to use photobucket or some other photo sharing site that lets you save your pic as a weblink.
The video tutorial is really good and step by step. Check it out!

By my figuring, I booked AP rate at Pop and am renting a car for less than the host hotel rate.
