Haven't registered yet (though I have a room booked at BLT through DVC), but I wanted to confirm for all those questioning transportation that yes, you can get a taxi in the morning. I know a lot of people use that option if they don't stay at host hotels. Another option is to rent a car and drive (but then you have to get back to your car) or get a family member to drive you.
I'd say the cab is the best option.
I will confirm this as well. We stayed at BWV last year, and taxis were available. At least 2 people in our group had cars, so we drove.
Getting back to your car is no problem. You end in the same place that you started, more or less, or at least you did in 2010.
Completion time is 3:30 (16 min mile), however, they don't start the clock until the last person crosses the start line. So, if you are in a more forward corral (last year was A-E), you get that buffer too.
FWIW, I started training in Jan for it, at almost 220 lbs, and averaged a 17-18 min mile. By the time of the race, I was able to do an occasional 12 min mile, and finished the race in 3:11, with LOTS of walking. Oh yeah, and lost 25 lbs (now 36, total).
Be careful, because this race will addict you to running!! I was never a runner, got talked into this by some friends, and by the end of the race was looking for another one to do! I am now signed up for one in Aug, one in Nov, and plan to do this one again.
Also, roomthreeseventeen, I am SO jealous of your 10 min miles!! I have managed to do one 11 min mile.
