Yeaaaa! I'm FINALLY registered!:hippie:

Is anyone else doing the 5K on Saturday? I didn't plan on it, but when I thought about it, I realized it would be a great race for the DH and I to do together, so I registered both of us for it as well.

I've been toying with coming down for this. Are there any gents signing up?

I am using an outdated browser at work too and I can't get to the link on the official page for the registration and the only thing that I am seeing on active.com is for the pins. It is driving me nuts!!! I have been obsessing over this all morning and now I have to wait until I get home I guess. :confused3

Congrats to all who have registered so far!

I was just sent a code for the Princess Half - It isn't a private code, so I assume I can share it....

It will save you 10% on registration for the race.

It is...

FIREWORKS

and it expires July 14th.

Happy Running (or walking!)

Has anyone gotten this to work? When I tried, it said it was expired. Did I do something wrong?

Haven't registered yet (though I have a room booked at BLT through DVC), but I wanted to confirm for all those questioning transportation that yes, you can get a taxi in the morning. I know a lot of people use that option if they don't stay at host hotels. Another option is to rent a car and drive (but then you have to get back to your car) or get a family member to drive you.

I'd say the cab is the best option.

Indivual Registration
Team Registration
Royal Family 5K Registration
Royal Family Kids Races Registration

Hope that helps.

I will confirm this as well. We stayed at BWV last year, and taxis were available. At least 2 people in our group had cars, so we drove.

Getting back to your car is no problem. You end in the same place that you started, more or less, or at least you did in 2010.

Completion time is 3:30 (16 min mile), however, they don't start the clock until the last person crosses the start line. So, if you are in a more forward corral (last year was A-E), you get that buffer too.

FWIW, I started training in Jan for it, at almost 220 lbs, and averaged a 17-18 min mile. By the time of the race, I was able to do an occasional 12 min mile, and finished the race in 3:11, with LOTS of walking. Oh yeah, and lost 25 lbs (now 36, total).

Be careful, because this race will addict you to running!! I was never a runner, got talked into this by some friends, and by the end of the race was looking for another one to do! I am now signed up for one in Aug, one in Nov, and plan to do this one again.

Also, roomthreeseventeen, I am SO jealous of your 10 min miles!! I have managed to do one 11 min mile.

Perhaps a silly question but, is park admission included for the days of the races? Meaning if you run the 5k are you able to stay in the park that day for "free?"

Hoping that 10% off code works!

I agree that this race will get you addicted to running/walking halfs at Disney. I don't usually like running, but for some reason it was just fun. I don't know how the Disneyland Half will be in September, but I would imagine it will be just as fun. The only thing I am not looking forward to with this race is the cold. I don't like freezing and I was until mile 9!

We drove from Atlanta so we had the car. It wasn't a big deal at all to drive even with the closed roads. We beat several of the buses! :) The porta potty lines form quickly and are long, so I would recommend being there early so you can wait and take care of that before walking to the start line. I am really hoping for a heat wave in 2011. :rotfl:

I don't do so very well in the heat. So I am hoping for cooler temps, but above freezing is preferable. :)

It's hot and humid up North here. Yesterday, I had to call DH to come and get me. Just 3/4 miles from home, but I couldn't do it. Abd. cramps, blotchy vision, and started to have some difficulty breathing. :sad2:

The 10% off code did not work for me.

No, you don't get in free. However, they do give you park ticket discounts. I am an annual passholder, but a friend of mine got some fairly significant discounts from what she said.

ME TOO. I would like it to be more like 55-60 at the start, and less like 40. I don't think I chucked my throw-a-way sweats until mile 3, and my gloves until about mile 5...

I totally agree on the portapotties, too. The start line was 20 min or so from the checkin area, and then you wait from 30-60 min before the actual start, so if you have even the slightest urge to go, definitely do it!

Trudes, scary! I am used to training in the heat, now, as we rarely get a day below 90 in NC in the summer. When it's over 95, my short runs go to the treadmill, though.

I am new to this...I am filling out my registration form.
The Commerative pin, is that something you all are getting?

TIA

This race is a first for me...first half marathon, first Disney race, etc., so I didn't think twice about ordering it when I registered. Thank goodness there is plenty of time to save before the Expo...I can already see myself "needing" plenty of stuff to commemorate "first"! I guess that's part of the experience for me!

If anyone is still having problems accessing the registration page or the travel information pages, delete you browsing history. Your computer might be directing you to the old page.

Did anyone notice that the price increases the longer you wait to register? This is a first for Disney races from what I've seen since I started running. That is how most other race registrations are handled though. I guess I may need to find the extra money to register before August 8, by my AP renewal comes first.

Yay, I am registered. I am really going to do this.

My sister has committed to running it, so I got both of us signed up, including the commerative pin. I know I am going to want one, and I am sure there will be more things that I will needto get when I am there.

I am so jealous of everyone who is signed up/going...:sad1:I had to make a hard decision that financially I can't make it happen this year. I am really heart broken :sad1::sad1::sad1: but I am going to live through you guys. I love reading all the post and seeing all the pictures. I will still use this site for motivation. I am still going to be running a half marathon at the end of the year but it will be closer to home. Unless of course I win the lotto........ good luck everyone!!!!

Hello! I'm going to sign up. This will be my first race, unless I do one soon while training.
