ROFR Thread Jan to March 2026 *PLEASE SEE FIRST POST FOR INSTRUCTIONS & FORMATTING TOOL*

So, the clause you don't want to add is not present? Or a clause you don't want is there? I do not understand the problem.

If you want something changed, and you think the change is correcting a simple clerical error, then ask the broker if they can change it. If you don't want to do that, then decide whether or not you want to sign. It is also worth checking your listing agreement to see if you own them the commission if you back out at this point.

But without giving us any specifics I don't see how any of us can give you even a poorly-informed opinion about whether or not to sign.
Broker asked me to sign addendum to adjust that they will receive X in commission. The original document did not have X commission listed. I am likely going to sign the addendum but I am curious if I am legally required to?

I mean, if you genuinely want to rip off the broker on a technicality, that's up to you.

Presumably, when you listed you knew there was a comission (and knew the rate) and would have expected it on the sale. If it were me, I'd sign the addendum, because I agreed to it informally earlier, and it would strike me as unethical to take advantage of an honest mistake.

But it is not my money, so you might choose to decide that my opinion is none of your business. If you want to get an opinion on what is legally required, you'll need to talk to counsel. IANAL.

I mean, I already stated I was likely going to sign it. I don’t appreciate you making a snap judgement about my character for asking a question. I hope you have a good rest of your day.

If it’s related to commission rate, then my guess would be that if you didn’t sign, the broker would cancel the sale for errors.

What I don’t know though is if there is any language that indicates you agree to sign again if errors are made. I know that is part of car buying documents.

Sounds like you will be signing though.
