Does anyone know the official time needed from a 10K to get moved up out of the last corral. There is one on thanksgiving here I might run, for that reason, but if there is no way I can do the time, will save the entry fee and just do the distance alone. THANKS!

By the way everyone, like I mentioned 2 posts ago, that I haven't been on here in a while, due to my runners block last month. To see the coutdown on the ticker is very Exciting! Only 3 months to ago.....SUPER EXCITED!

Would love to know as well, how many of you are training for the full distance of 13.1 miles, and who is only training up to 10 miles?

I believe my training will go up to 11 miles. Last week was my "official" beginning for the Princess half training...I'm really nervous! Miles are going to start increasing really fast now! My trainer is only giving me my running schedules one month at a time...so I don't look too far ahead and FREAK :scared1:...probably a good idea...but she trained my BF the same way and took him up to 11 miles before he started to taper right before the race, so I'm assuming that's what she's doing for me.

I ran 5 miles this weekend for the first time ever and I think I did well. I stayed at what has been a normal pace for me throughout and finished in exactly 1 hour...I do a run/walk plan where I take 100-step walk breaks at each mile mark....works out to right around 1 minute usually. I still can't believe I'll be doing 13 in a little over 3 months...seems crazy!

Congrats to everyone completing their races. Very inspiring! :cheer2:I have just come off a 2 week break due to illness. I was so happy to complete a 4.5 mile run yesterday afternoon. My pace was just over 11 min, which is good for me – especially after 2 weeks off. I’m definitely going to do some light cross training today. My legs are a little tired, but not sore.
I’m getting super excited about the Princess! I had my first race nightmare… anyone starting to get those? I dreamed it was Friday afternoon before the race, and I still hadn’t left for the 10 hr drive to Disney. I also dreamed that I hadn’t trained more than 6 miles! That is the longest I’ve done so far… maybe it is a hint that it is time to up my mileage????:rotfl:

I found some pace predictors online. Based on those predictors, you have to finish a 10K in less than 1:15 to have a 2:45 or less half-marathon pace. I finished my 10K on Saturday in 1:09, so I am hoping that will work. I don't really know what formula they use, so I guess I'll find out if my time was good enough when they respond to my email! Good luck to you!

Updated to add: I just got an email back from the race organizers. They changed my estimated time from 2:46 (what I put on my registration) to 2:28 based on my 10K time of 1:19:19. That is pretty much in line with the online predictors.

How long does it take to hear back when you submit proof of time? I ran my first 10k yesterday and submitted my time this morning. My goal for myself yesterday was 1:05 and I finished in 58:33, so I was very excited!

You won't hear back about what corral you're in. Probably sometime this week, you'll just get an e-mail from Disney Sports saying "OK".

With a 58:33 10k, you'll be in the first corral.

Congrats on your great time! I submitted mine Sunday and heard back today (Monday). They just listed my former projected time and my new projected time.

For anyone interested, here are two pace predictor sites. These sites actually give a slower time based on my 10k pace than what Disney projected for me (by about 4 minutes).

Disney is relentlessly optimistic. They predicted me for a 2:08 half, and I ran a 2:20.

I know you don't know an exact time, but what is your guess on the cut off for the first corral? I know my friend will be in the first corral. We aren't planning to run together, but I wondered if we would be near each other at the start. I was guessing I would not be in the first corral with a 1:09 10K.

Not sure, but I suspect the cut off is 1:00. I submitted a 1:01:34 and was in Corral B.

Keep in mind that the Princess will likely be vastly different from Wine and Dine or the January half.

This is not a dis on women or anything, but... the majority of the registrants will be women, so the average time will definitely go up and the cutoffs will be different.

When do you find out what corral you are in? I'm assuming that I will be in the very last as I have never done anything like this before and i'm pretty slow. I did manage to do 4 miles yesterday and maintained an avg of 14 min miles but that was running/walking.

It'll be on your bib, that you'll get at the expo.

Wow! That was a fast response! I just submitted my time from my 10k Sept 6. Nothing like procrastination...

MickeyMomTo2, have you looked into the Country Music Half Marathon? I saw you were from TN and was wondering if you've run it before. The date is April 30th, not even two months after the Princess. I'm thinking about signing up, but I'm not sure I'll be ready to run another half marathon 2 months after my first....

I have never done the CMHM, but I have lots of friends who have (we live in the greater Nashville area). I just started running in January, and the Princess will be my first half. I chose it as my first half because I knew running at Disney World would be a huge motivator for me, and for the most part, the course is flat. I've heard that the CMHM course is very hilly, but if I finish the Princess and want to try, I may sign up. I'm planning to decide after the Princess. My children always participate in the kids' run the night before the marathon. At least I know I'll be able to run that mile with them. Two years ago, I wouldn't have even wanted to do that!

I'm Nashville area too! Are you considering the 11.2 mile loop in Percy Warner for training runs? I'd like to once I get the mileage, but I've been told it is VERY hilly. I think maybe on Sunday I'll go check out the 5.8 mile loop to see how bad it is. Are you going to do any more races before the Princess? I'm definitely going to do the Zoo 5k in January but I think that will be it for me. Racing gets expensive quickly!

I plan to train to 12 miles. I did that for my 1st HM, which was last month, and I am very glad I did. For me, 10 miles was a lot different then 13.

That's what I am thinking Trudes! I am either going to go up to 13 or 14....depending on the mood of things.

Hey - I am in Nashville, too! Been doing most of my training at Edwin Warner on the Harpeth greenway - it is about 4 miles round trip and 99% paved and flat. Would love to find more places like that when I start doing higher miles! I am a beginner so I think "very hilly" isn't for me at this point. Would love to hear where you are all training.

If you want to be in the same corral as a friend, talk to runner relations at the Expo and if you aren't in the same corral, they may be able to help you out. They will usually move you to whomever has the lower corral though. It isn't a big deal, but for some it may be. Keep in mind that the Princess is unlike any other race - so much more laid back, so much more supportive and just an overall enjoyable experience so no matter what your level when the race comes around, you will not be alone. :goodvibes

I will be training at a higher distance only because the WDW Marathon is a few weeks before this race. I wonder if that means that the Princess will be a piece of cake?!?

Regardless, the Princess is my favorite race by far. It is a great one to start out with. If I had completed another race as part of my bucket list, I guarantee I would have stopped at the one race I promised myself. I hope it is warm enough to dress up for this year! :cheer2:
