Does anyone know the official time needed from a 10K to get moved up out of the last corral. There is one on thanksgiving here I might run, for that reason, but if there is no way I can do the time, will save the entry fee and just do the distance alone. THANKS!

How long does it take to hear back when you submit proof of time? I ran my first 10k yesterday and submitted my time this morning. My goal for myself yesterday was 1:05 and I finished in 58:33, so I was very excited!

I emailed them my time last night, and I got an email back today stating the placement cut off is a 2:45 or less finish, but they still did update my time.

I'm Nashville area too! Are you considering the 11.2 mile loop in Percy Warner for training runs? I'd like to once I get the mileage, but I've been told it is VERY hilly. I think maybe on Sunday I'll go check out the 5.8 mile loop to see how bad it is. Are you going to do any more races before the Princess? I'm definitely going to do the Zoo 5k in January but I think that will be it for me. Racing gets expensive quickly!

Hey - I am in Nashville, too! Been doing most of my training at Edwin Warner on the Harpeth greenway - it is about 4 miles round trip and 99% paved and flat. Would love to find more places like that when I start doing higher miles! I am a beginner so I think "very hilly" isn't for me at this point. Would love to hear where you are all training.

I am in Franklin, but an 11.2 mile loop sounds great. I think Crockett Park in Brentwood has some longer loops as well, but not that long. I am only up to 6 miles, so I am just now looking for longer loops.

I also have not run on the Harpeth Greenway, but that sounds nice as well. I did do a 10K on Saturday that started at McGavock High School, went through Two Rivers Park, across the pedestrian bridge, and down into Shelby Bottoms. The hills in Two Rivers and the STEEP incline to the bridge were tough. I keep telling myself that after training in hilly middle TN, flat Orlando will be great!

I also may do the Zoo Run, but I may wait until closer to time to decide. I have two kids who have activities going on, so sometimes I have to schedule around their schedules.

So glad to know there are more Nashville area runners here. I look forward to keeping up with your progress. If you find a place you love to run, be sure to share it. I will do the same!

If you want to be in the same corral as a friend, talk to runner relations at the Expo and if you aren't in the same corral, they may be able to help you out. They will usually move you to whomever has the lower corral though. It isn't a big deal, but for some it may be. Keep in mind that the Princess is unlike any other race - so much more laid back, so much more supportive and just an overall enjoyable experience so no matter what your level when the race comes around, you will not be alone. :goodvibes

You can move down a corral, with no need to get your bib corral changed at the expo. I had two friends that were 'A' that moved down to 'C' to help out some friends at the 2010 Princess, and had no problems.

Especially for Disney races, there is NO advantage to staying off-property, only hassle.

Well if the weather is as cold as last year the advantage of staying off property and driving your self is you can stay in your car longer and stay warm ;) I hate the Disney bus system (love the monorail though) and I really don't want to take it at 4:30 in the morning. Also not happy my fave resort is not a particiapting resort for teh race :sad2: I am sure there are other advantages to staying off property, just like there are advantages to staying on!

I've got a BIG advantage for staying off-property! (This year for the regular weekend...in the future the Princess.) FREE HOUSING with my sister!!! I'll take free over the money for a resort any day!

I agree that it is not a disadvantage to stay off property. If someone wants to spend over $100 a night on accommodations, wait for a bus that you really don't need because the traffic getting to the Princess is pretty much non-existent, then go for it. I like getting to the race when I want to and leaving it when I want to. I like staying in the Downtown Disney Resort area because it is actually a short drive, and a warm one at that! :goodvibes You don't pay for parking at Epcot that morning so it isn't a big deal at all. Plus, I end up spending a few hundred for my entire trip rather than close to $1,000+. I love my employee rate! :) You aren't any less of a person or Princess in this case for staying off property or more of one for staying on property. No one judges!

It is up to each person attending the race. But, just staying on Disney Property for the convenience of a bus doesn't make sense to me. If you are making a vacation out of this with your entire family, I can see going for the package deals, but if it is just a race trip, you may not be interested in turning it into the expensive vacation. Nothing wrong with saving some money! :cool1: I saw quite a few people sharing cars last year so you don't even have to rent a car. Just find out where everyone is staying! :)

Rupert.....very well written, completely agree. Can you let me know which hotel you stayed at in the DTD area?
Thanks

DISboards WISH racing team members....

If you are interested in the order for WISH Racing Team Headsweats hats and or visors please go to the following thread to place your order.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2537249
I have to have a minimum amount of orders to place an order, so this is usually only done ONCE a year.
If you want a WISH Racing Team hat/visor for the up coming year's races, now is the time to get one.
I need the minimum order placed by November 20th to get everyone's hats/visors to them by WDW January Marathon weekend.

Thanks,
Tracy

I think it depends on what your goal is. If it's to save money, sure. But being at Disney, to me, is BEING at Disney, not going back to someone's condo/house.

Oh we'll go back to her place for me to hop in an ice bath and get a shower and then head out to a park to keep moving.

Plus we'll just have been there at Christmas, so it's really not a big deal. For me, the room is only the place to sleep and get cleaned up - so if I can save $100+ a night by staying somewhere I don't have to pay, all the better.

I stay at the Holiday Inn DTD and love it! It just reopened after a huge renovation a few weeks before the Princess this year. The Friends and Family rate is still a bit high IMO, since the race is more than 90 days out but I will keep checking it.

Where/What is everyone eating the night before the race? I have an ADR for our post-race celebration meal, but need to make one for the night before. Any suggestions? Is carb-loading a good idea? If so, where's the best place to do that? We will be renting a car, so we could go off-site too, if need be.

I am bummed b/c I am majorly behind in training. I got a stomach bug this weekend and missed my 5 mile run. Plus I missed a day of training last week b/c DD was sick. I am getting worried that I will not be prepared. I keep reminding myself I have over 3 months to go.

We're dining at Portobello the evening before the race. I figure I'll either have just plain pasta with tomato sauce...nothing too spicy...or the grilled chicken. I seem to do well with either of those meals the day before a run. Post-run I'll be sitting down to the mushroom-swiss burger at the House of Blues...I actually think about that meal when I'm training...very sad. :sad2: I love cheeseburgers and I made a promise to myself to give them up until after the Princess...I haven't had one since the beginning of March at Cosmic Rays in MK. I can't wait!!!

I hope you all get 100% better soon! :) The bugs have definitely been going around, but you will get back into training and do well. A lot of people carb load but Hal Higdon has information on his website that really doesn't recommend that. Especially if you are nervous about the race. An article he has posted says that it is better to carb load for lunch or even breakfast the day before rather than going for that at dinner. I tend to eat pretty light for dinner. I am thinking about an early dinner at California Grill. I really loved eating at Napa Rose before the DL half and did great so maybe I need to keep going with the California cuisine! ;) As you progress with your training (long runs) you may want to try different things and see how your body handles it. If I can't stress one thing enough, it is to know what you can handle before the race. Otherwise the Portapotties will be your best friend. I think too many people learn the hard way. :sad2:

Wow, I admire your self-control!!:thumbsup2 I'm sure that it will make that Mushroom-Swiss burger that much better!!

We booked at the Port Orleans Riverside and plan on eating at Cape May the night before. We have a GREAT travel agent :lovestruc (email me if you want her information) who got us a great room rate and it happens to be a free disney dining weekend! :woohoo:

Already made all our reservations (with nothing planned on race day) for our entire trip. I think staying onsite and offsite both have really good advantages... there really isn't a wrong way to go....

We also just entered our 5 year old in the kids run.... just for fun. :cheer2:
