OFFICIAL 2010 Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) Tips and Tricks

I am at MVMCP right now. So far I've seen cinderella and aurora with princes, belle and beast, mickey and minnie, seven dwarfs, princess and the frog, pooh and piglet, evil stepmother and stepsisters. The first parade was super crowded, we are waiting to see a totally tomorrowland christmas right now. They have hot chocolate and sugar cookies tonight.

I asked about christmas magic shots and so far haven't found any.

Let us know about the whole evening lol. How was the sencond parade ?:santa:

Its hard for me to type a lot because I'm posting from my phone. The second parade was much less crowded than the first parade. The first parade was impossible to find a spot because people had staked their spots out maybe even before the partty began. What we did was just find a good standing spot for the fireworks that was near where we wanted to be for the second parade. Because most people just stayed in their spot for the first parade to catch the fireworks, most people cleared out after the fireworks and we were able to get a great spot for the stage show and the parade. We were right in front of the castle for the stage show and stayed there for the second parade, and it was great. I have some really good pics too.

Anyway, the first thing we did for the night was pictures. We got in line at the judges tent for mickey and minnie about 6:45 and had our pictures by 7:05. Then we headed over to get our pictures with the princesses, and we were done with that by 7:20. We skipped tinker bell and friends. We then went searching for the seven dwarfs and had trouble finding them, but the were just past its a small world coming out of fantasyland. I think we then went to watch the totally tomorrowland show, which was really good, then we staked out a standing spot for the fireworks. We then found a good spot for the parade and castle stageshow, then we went back and got our pictures with the seven dwarfs. Last we walked around looking for photopass photographers and shopping in the emporium on main street. The snow on main street was awesome, and there are plenty of photographers to take your pictures on main street also.

After everything was said and done, we didn't actually leave the park until 12:40 and it was still snowing on main street and there were still lots of people there. We had a great time and got lots of. Pictures. I can't say what the lines for rides were like because we didn't ride any :)

Yes, thanks from me too Kim. I am getting so excited and after reading your report it makes it seem even more real. I can't wait!

I should add my report too, I suppose, if it will help someone.

Me, DW, and DD6 on Friday Nov 12 MVMCP, with main goals being parade, fireworks, and characters either in Christmas attire or otherwise rare. We go often enough and live close enough that rides were at the bottom of our list....

Arrived at gate at 3:40 or so intending to wait 20 minutes for early entry. As others were already lining up, we did too and actually got in around 3:45. Had ADR at LTT for 4:10, so used extra few minutes to get a couple of Photopass shots along Main Street, swing by the Rapunzel/Flynn M&G to see how it worked and stopped by the Wishing Well, which we'd managed to miss up until then.

Got out of dinner around 5:30, shopped for 30 minutes or so and did HM and IASW (now with new "improved" reversed queues), and was done with those by 6:35. Missed Castle Lighting, but also not a priority as we had seen that before.

Used knowledge learned here to get characters done next. Left IASW and went directly to dwarves, were maybe 10th group in line to see them, and finished by 7:30. Next to Rapunzel & Flynn--don't know how long they'll be there after all--and done with them by 8:00. (No dance/drawing thing beforehand as during the day, just line up)

Over to princesses next, first pass with Aurora, Cindy, and Snow and their respective princes--our real goal here--and done by 8:20. Second pass immediately since we knew from here that Snow traded out with Belle (and Beast) around 8:15-8:30. Done second time at 8:50 with B&B. Skipped other two princesses since I noticed they looked a little different this time.... :rolleyes1 A fairly short line to see Mister and Missus Mouse together, and done by 9:15.

A quick walk-on jaunt with the Barnstormer, then off to the fireworks. Walked to our usual spot only minutes before they started without impacting any other viewers.

Next over to Abu and Genie, but they were getting ready to leave when we got in line and knew we would miss them. Planned to return later when they came back. Did Diamond Horseshoe dance party with Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye and DD6 thought this a BIG hit. Staked out a front-row spot outside Diamond Horseshoe 15 minutes before parade and enjoyed that alot too. Made a bee-line back to Abu and Genie, but we were going to miss them AGAIN. DD6 was disappointed, but we managed to get a shot with her in the foreground and only them in the background (between folks in front of us).

Back to another Photopass photog on spur line towards the teacups with castle in background, and over to last Castle show at 11:20. Enjoyed that, got a couple more Photopass shots in front of Walt & Mickey statue in front of castle, then off to hit Emporium on way out....

Questions welcome!

How did you do it? We never manage to get as many characters as you have. Congratulations. Is there a map to show were the characters are located? Can you list the locations. It would certainally be helpful. Thanks!

The map for the party is useless for character locations. I believe only two spots are marked on the map, and they don't mention what characters there are.

Recommend you search earlier in this thread (and others) for posts from either mickeyhunter or berlioz70, who both maintain comprehensive lists I believe of characters.

Our experience:

7 Dwarves - Fantasyland Skyway (stroller parking) just outside of It's a Small World towards Liberty Square.

Rapunzel & Flynn - The old Belle's Fairytale Garden down the path from the castle down towards Cosmic Ray's.

Princesses & Princes - Toon Town County Bounty between Mickey's and Minnie's houses. Snow White and the Snow Prince switch off with Belle and Beast. Other princesses and princes are full-time during the party as far as I know.

Mickey and Minnie - Toon Town Judges Tent (behind Mickey's house)

Abu & Genie - Adventureland Verandah, not seen this as a M&G before. If you enter Adventureland from the Hub, around 200-300 feet or so on the right. This is not the same as where Lilo and Stitch, and more recently Ariel, do their M&Gs. These characters switch off with Jasmine and Aladdin.

Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye - Diamond Horseshoe in Frontierland.

Again, characters were a major draw for us as well as the parade and fireworks. We did the few rides we were interested and dinner before the actual party started so we could maximize our time. If characters are your thing too, then do the most popular ones first, even line up for them like we did before the party starts....

Have fun!

Mesaboy2 - Your info is really helpful, thanks so much for taking the time to share all of this. You did get an amazing amount done in one evening. We have not attended the party before but we figure we'll have to skip the rides that evening in order to enjoy the activities exclusive to the party. We will be in MK earllier in the week to enjoy the rides. Would you mind sharing where your usual spot for fireworks viewing is located?

Another thing to keep in mind is I would imagine the first week or two of the parties aren't near as crowded as once it starts getting into Dec, so it's probably a little easier to get more done.

What is the earliest you can start lining up for characters? I'm planning to enter @ 4ish but wonder how much time I would have before needing to do that. If I remember correctly, they don't put the party exclusive merchandise out until right at 7ish, correct?

I lined up at 6:00pm for the dwarfs. By 7:00pm they line was at least 30-45 people deep.

Yes, the party merchandise comes out at 7pm.

Sorry for delay, had to hit DTD then the dark side (IoA) for a couple hours each today before returning home tonight.

Yes, probably easier for us to get done all we wanted to do because it is an early party. Probably not doable in another two weeks or so, maybe sooner. A big reason we came so early!

"Our" fireworks spot is okay, but not ideal. You're welcome to it if you like, and if I can describe it well enough. It is on the path near the Rose Garden (I think it's called). This is the small path that connects Main St. over to the Tomorrowland spur. I think that's the dessert party behind us across the water at the noodle station (as we look at the castle). It is off-center of the castle, but is not usually packed like Main St. or the hub. Tinkerbell flies not directly over us, but fairly close.

Good luck!

Tink will appear at both wishes and holiday wishes weather permitting.

Below is a Robo map that has Tink's flight path (thank you Robo) :goodvibes

That overhead map helps me describe "our" spot better. I was trying to say we watch from the purple path in the lower part of the hub area. About halfway between near the tree, but not obviously behind it. The advantage we like is that it does not feel as cramped as most other good viewing spots. DW said to me that on Friday it felt like it was just her and DD6 and no one else around. (I was behind them on the back side of the path with the camcorder.)

Beauty & the Beast is one of my favorite Disney movies so I definately want to get a photo with Belle & the Beast. I've read here that they switch off with Snow White around 8:15-8:30. When they switch off, how long are they usually there for before they switch again?

Thanks for the fireworks viewing tip! Never would have thought to go over there!

I do not know, but my guess would be they would be there for 75-90 minutes or so. This assumption is based only on the previous set of princesses/princes being there since the beginning of MVMCP at 7. All the characters had switched out at that 8:15-8:30 mark for us on Friday--including the princesses/princes who remained the "same". ;) Only difference I can think of might be that because Beast is a "fur" character he may be available for a different amount of time.

subbing

Anyone know if the free cookies and cocoa are "peanut safe?" We have to be very careful with cross contamination, so cookies are usually off limits unless I can see the packaging. Thanks.
