I hate what the media has become.
I don't know what to believe about Cam Newton.
But, I have heard way more than I ever want to about this.
Anyway, I have a report to file from the North Carolina v. FSU game from Saturday, November 6.
It was another beautiful day for a football game.
The ACC is promoting sportsmanship this year, so the game began with a handshake between both teams. The entire teams lined up for this. I haven't seen such a thing before:
This was homecoming.
So, band alumni got to play with the real band:
The fly over was provided by a Coast Guard unit from Mobile. They did it right:
Here's Chief Osceola:
Notice the crowd chopping here:
The famous spear plant:
This cheerleader must be a red shirt senior:
(actually I think she was a Cheerleader alumnus)
The game did not start well for FSU.
NC scored a touchdown on its first possession.
That sure quieted the crowd.
But, I heard someone cheer.
And turned to see this lone NC fan surrounded by Noles.
The guy had a pair on him:
Luckily FSU fans are civil. This guy might not have been treated so well elsewhere.
FSU came back and scored on its next possession, and the game stayed close.
Here is Chief O after one of the scores:
Now here's something interesting.
And very hard to believe.
But, I have no other explanation . . .
I think Chief Osceola and Renegade must have ridden down to Fort Wilderness and had lunch at Trail's End before the game.
Because Renegade was having what I believe we call gastric distress.
I never knew that there were designated pooper scoopers at the stadium, but if you look in the shaded portion of the field around the 10 yard line, you will see them in this photo:
To make a long story short, FSU scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to pull ahead.
By one point:
With less than six minutes left in the game.
All the defense had to do was stop NC.
Once.
But, they didn't.
And, NC kicked a field goal with less than a minute left.
FSU was able to make it down the field and get in field goal territory itself.
But, their kicker missed his second field goal of the game.
And the Noles lost.
Bummer.
