Congratulations Auburn! It was a well played game. I hope to see ya'll go all the way to the BCS Championship Game :thumbsup2. Cam Newton is awesome! I would also like to see him get the Heisman Trophy. I will still pull for my LSU TIGERS, but I knew it would be a difficult game without a good QB. Hopefully things will be different next year at Death Valley Stadium.

Very nice post. Good sportsmanship. I like to see it! :thumbsup2 It was a good game, and LSU's luck ran out at the end. But, your season is not over. Anything can happen in the SEC!

Two weeks ago, I was lamenting that an SEC team would be blocked from the BCS championship, unless some of the overrated teams were knocked off. Well, they were, and all is right in the world again this week.

Congratulations to the Auburn Tigers. I am happy for you. And, especially for Gene Chizik and Cam Newton. But, there is a lot of football left to play.

So, buckle your seat-belts.

I cannot say that I am overjoyed that we are on top of the BCS frankly. However, our team has two choices, let it go to their heads or keep playing like they have been playing. I hope for the latter.

As for LSU, they have lots of good football left and lots of potential for a really good bowl game selection in the post season.

I heard through the Plainsman vine that our coach has had a heart-to-heart meeting with the players on not letting the media and hype get to them and not getting a big head from all the publicity they are giving to the team and Newton. I really hope that they take it to heart. They really look like they are having fun out there and for the most part, they are staying healthy, which is the number one priority in my book for both teams, ours and the one we are playing.

I was watching some of the BSU game tonight and my brain hurt from the smurf turf, so I went to Walmart and bought green thongs and bras for my clothesline instead. It made me feel better.

I tried to watch some of that Boise game, too. But between that smurf turf and that dude with the woman-ish voice doing the play-by-play announcing, I just couldn't.

I tuned in toward the end, and there was the inevitable discussion about Boise's QB and the Heisman. I don't get it. Boise is at best an above-average football team. But, they don't play anyone. Why does ESPN insist on broadcasting all of their games. I just don't get it.

And, did anyone catch a shot of the crowd at this game?

There wasn't anybody there!

And even if there was anybody there, that is one of the smallest Division 1 football stadiums I have ever seen.

So, if their own fans don't want to watch this garbage, why is it on national television?

Does ESPN own Boise State's marketing rights or something?

I really do not understand that turf.

:lmao:

I'm not sure who it worse, Beth Mowins or Rece Davis (who I have to listen to Thursday)

I watched all of 9 minutes and turned it off.

But, I will be watching the Noles until double zeroes tomorrow night!

Is the she-man also calling the FSU/NC State game?

I heard her/him when I played back FSU's opener on the DVR.

Having three daughters, I am very much in favor of equal rights.

But, I don't like hearing a woman call a football game.

I know that's not PC, but I don't like it.

Maybe I'll turn down the sound tomorrow night, and find Gene Deckerhoff on my radio dial. :thumbsup2

Good luck Nollies!

Must refrain from comment, must refrain....

I'm pretty sure it will be Rece Davis and the gang tomorrow. I can handle him to an extent, but the silly gameday final courtroom stuff irritates me to no end.

And you can never, ever go wrong with Deckerhoff. But, William Floyd has some work to do.

If you heard a woman call a game correctly, you would change your mind.

However, I haven't heard on on TV yet that I would say that about...yet.

I have heard a high school announcer that was a female call a game that any man would envy. I sure wish I knew where she was now......sigh.

I'm sure you are right.

But, that ESPN2 lady- she just irritates me for some reason. But, then again, so do a few male announcers.

It's hard to believe that the weekend is upon us, but it is.

We start out with FSU @ NC State tonight. Earlier in the season, I thought this would be a very tough game for FSU. But, they had last week off, and I think they're all healthy. So, FSU should be able to take this one.

On Saturday, I look forward to:

Florida v. Georgia- Got to go with my Gators here.

Tenn. @ SC- SC should win this easy.

Mich. St. @ Iowa- I'll say Mich. St.

Missouri @ Nebraska- I haven't seen much of either team. So I don't know.

Auburn @ Mississippi- War Eagle

Oregon @ USC- I would like to see Lane Kiffin loose big on national TV, but then again, I would also like to see the Ducks shut-up. I guess I don't care who wins.

Both Bama and LSU get the week off to get ready to face off a week from Saturday. That will be a game to watch!

Good luck to your team.

ALL of the female commentators on ESPN annoy me. They are glorified cheerleaders that have blossomed since their cheerleading days with some help of plastic surgery. I find the remote when they try to interview the coaches. (Yes, this is coming from the same gender...)

There are some announcers that do softball and basketball that I think are quite competent. They also don't sport a lot of plastic surgery either. ;)

Mental reminder for the future, when you have to get up at 3am do not stay up and watch the Noles play. Thursday night games have not been kind to us historically, and last night was not different. What happened in the second half? Oh well, I'm still happy with the season and the upside for the future.

Another weekend of college football. We are heading to Baton Rouge this afternoon for some great tailgating! Saturday's menu is calling for gumbo, and we are all looking forward to this game. We only hope that it stays close and interesting for four quarters. All good luck finally ran out against Auburn but still enjoyed the game. I guess when you just have to rely on luck to win a game it will eventually run out!! Still love our Tigers even though watching them can be hard sometime. Good luck to all this weekend and really loving this fall weather.
Love college football and WDW!

Yes, that one hurt. Poor CP7. He made some great plays earlier. And, then he fumbles at the worst possible time. Hopefully, FSU bounces back this week.

Have a great time! I'm not so sure that the Mad Hatter doesn't have some more tricks up his sleeve. It should be a good game. But, I won't be watching it, as I will be in Tallahassee watching the Noles take on the Tarheels.

Games of interest this weekend:

Florida @ Vandy. The Florida offense finally showed signs of life against Georgia. Will it continue?

Chattanooga @ Auburn. Should be a nice low stress game for the Tigers.

TCU @ Utah. I know that I'm supposed to care. But I don't. Not even a little bit. Luckily, I will be watching two real teams playing live, and won't need to see this circus on TV.

Bama @ LSU. I wish I could watch this one. It should be a good one.

NC @ FSU. FSU has not lost at home this season, and I don't expect them too this week.

Arkansas @ SC. Should be a good one. I think SC takes it. Mainly because of home field advantage. But, you never know. That's why you have to play the game.

Have a great weekend everyone.

And, good luck to your team.

Whoa, I just saw this today. Looks like the NCAA is investigating possible recruitment violations for Cam Newton from Miss. State.

Sounds a little shady to me since the guy in question who was supposedly "representing" Newton played for Miss. State back in the 80's.

I sincerely hope this does not pan out, it would be very unfortunate.

Here is a quick excerpt and the article linked below that.

"During the 2009 football season, I was contacted by a former football teammate, who represented to me that he was speaking for the Newton camp. He told me that Cam Newton wanted to play at Mississippi State, but that a specified payment would have to be made. I reported the conversation to the Mississippi State Athletic Department. I was told by the Athletic Department that Mississippi State would not respond to the overture that was made to me, and that Mississippi State would continue to recruit Cam Newton as it does any other football recruit."

Perhaps not football related, but as of today, the University of Central Florida is officially the 2nd largest university in the nation (Ohio State was the largest)!!!! And the School of Business (my school) is the largest in the nation:cool1:

This is really about them investigating the agent who misrepresented himself as a former player of the NFL player's union. He has been disciplined today and stripped of his agent status for misrepresenting players during recruitment. It is not just this incident that got this agent in trouble. Like the agents that had the beach parties this summer with the players from Carolina, GA, S. Carolina, etc, very few times do the agents get in trouble. At first, it is always the players that get the brunt first. I am glad to see that the agent is getting his due as well. The NCAA asked Mr. Newton (Cam's father) to turn over financial records from his church (he is a pastor) and personal records and he did so a month ago without consulting a lawyer. The NCAA has known about this since January and has had credible evidence since July. ESPN.com broke this story so that they would have something to talk about during the Heisman race other than who was in the lead or not in the lead. IMHO of course;)
Auburn has received no official letter of inquiry from the NCAA on this or any other incident concerning C. Newton. He will play and this will be the talk of the town for a while. It is unfortunate because all it does is take away from someone who has been given a second chance and has done great things with the chance he has been given. Lots of people will twist and turn things, however, one thing still sticks in my mind and I will try to quote C. Newton's father the best I can... He said back when Cam signed to come to Auburn, "I don't want my son to be a rented mule at Mississippi State." No one really knew what that meant until now.

ETA: This was asked of me to post on Facebook. I thought it a very nice gesture of the fans who are attending the game. I sure wish I could be there, however, I am happy I am not freezing my flat butt off at Alumni Band this weekend! :)

"Message to everyone in the Auburn Family: At the end of the 1st Quarter during tomorrows game, everyone stand and sing "Lean on Me" to show support for Cam Newton and the rest of our team. Like this, post it as your status, and spread the word!"

Good stuff Jen!

I knew you would have the scoop. I didn't know the history of the other misrepresentations from this guy, but thought it sounded like he was bad news from the article I read.

I really enjoy watching Cam play this year.

AuburnJenn - the reference to "Lean on Me" didn't mean anything to me. I googled YouTube and found this:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRaHUr7Npyo
Pretty cool . . .

I usually only follow SEC conference, but thought that Michigan game must've really been something to watch - - 3 OTs and over 130 points scored!

It was a beautiful day in Baton Rouge - so glad the Tigers seemed to have had more of a complete game. Both quarterbacks (Jefferson and Lee) received Player of the Game awards by CBS. I thought that was a nice touch. Even though LSU had only one loss, the offense had struggled so in past games

I enjoyed watching the Bayou Tigers in their victory last night as well. Congratulations. My best friend, who is a grad from Auburn, and a former squad mate from band with my hubby, lives in Tuscaloosa. He send me a text and said the town was on a "suicide watch" and all local hospitals were on high alert. He is having too much fun there.popcorn::

You found the correct link. "Lean on Me" is a song that the football players sing to foster bonding during the football season. I posted that because the fans were singing to the players and Cam to let them know the Auburn Family was behind Cam and the players during the controversy that was/is brewing with the agent and the recruiting crap. From what I heard from my Alumni Band friends who were at the game, it was quite moving. (and it was very, very cold)

I hope this helps you out a bit.

When I did the youtube search, I was hoping to find a video of the fans singing the tribute. I hadn't realized it was a song that the team actually sang. Pretty cool.

Hope your friends enjoyed themselves (and no beer bottles were thrown!)
