I promised some photos from the FSU v. BC game on October 16, 2010.
As previously mentioned, I cannot remember another football game I have ever attended with such pleasant weather. It was probably in the low 70's at kick-off, and I doubt that it got to be much above 80, and there was no humidity.
You never know who you might run into before a football game. I ran into this bloke outside the stadium. He looks much smaller on TV, doesn't he?:
(anolefan, please note that I am not wearing Gator crocks to the Doak this time)
Kick-off was at noon.
Which means the stands were not full until toward the end of the first quarter.
Some pre kick-off shots:
Do you see that mat with the numbers on it there on the sideline?
Can anybody tell me what that is? I think I saw a similar one on the 'Bama sideline when UF played Bama. It looks like maybe players are supposed to stand on the numbers, but I have never noticed it being used during a game.
In the "What the Fort?" department, check out the 'fro on the kid right on the left side of the 50 yard line in this photo:
The Marching Chiefs always put on a great show:
There was no fly over at this game, but there were some fireworks:
The pre-game ceremony at Doak Campbell is one of the best in college football.
When the announcer introduced the highest ranked team in the State of Florida, there were loud cheers, even though most folks were still outside getting their drink on:
Chief Osceola and Renegade > Than any other college mascot:
The student section is right in the corner of the north end zone. If you look in the front row, you will see all kinds of interesting things:
You can see here that the stands started to fill up respectfully as the end of the first quarter approached:
Here are a few crowd shots from the beginning of the second quarter:
You can see FSU score and Chief Osceola and Renegade celebrating the FSU touchdown in the end-zone in these shots:
At half time, a bunch of no good hippies stormed the field!:
Actually, it was just the band.
This was parents' weekend at FSU.
So, the band did a tribute to the 70's.
It was hilarious.
The first song they played was Copa Cabana.
And, I told my kids that my HS band actually played Copa Cabana as part of its half-time show. In 1978. But, not as a joke.
Ah, the 70's!
The game was a bit closer than FSU fans liked.
And CP7 through quite a few pics.
But, a W is a W.
And FSU lives to fight another day.
By early in the 4th quarter, FSU went up 24-19:
And, that was the final score:
All, in all, it was a great day.
