Offical free dining watch 2008

Trying to do the Math with a split stay to see if free dining will be worth it. I've got flights booked for the 18th to the 27th. So I would have to do a split from the 18 to the 24 and than the 24 to the 27th. I have a couple questions.

1)How many nights do I have to book for the free dining? Obviously I am hoping three work.
2)I know you have to buy at least a one day ticket with the free dining so can I buy a 7 day ticket with my first portion of my stay even though that portion is only 6 nights?
3) I had heard a rumour that in order to get free dinning it had to be a NEW booking. So would I lose my exsisting ADR'S?

FYI I've already booked the full trip through AAA (I didn't get a 40%code:sad1: )
We are staying at POR (2 adults and 3 kids) along with my parents in another room. We are paying for the dinning plan.

I am reading through pages of posts, I am wondering what a bounceback is? My family is taking a first disney trip in Sept (13-20) booked at AKL with 40% but I am thinking with a junior, child and 2 adults free dining would be better...... any advice?

I am thinking 40% would be still better. Your dining would probably be around 125 a day, but I assume with 40% off AKL, I think you would save more per day.

Yes, you can book two packages under one credit card for two different people. I did that with my Disney Visa for our reservations this past trip. We booked our room and then my parent's room at the same time on the same card.

Did you have to pay 2 deposits? I've got to book 2 rooms because DS & DDIL are coming with us, but they don't have a Disney VISA. I was just going to do them both together - which is better?

I'll try to answer your questions:
1) In the past it was 3, so probably will be again
2)You can buy a 7 day ticket with the first stay, but you'll still have to buy another 1 day ticket to get the 2nd package.
3) No, you won't lose your ADR's. They are tied to your phone #, not your reservation #. Actually you don't even have to have a reservation to make ADR's. I've got mine made and haven't booked yet.
Hope that helps!

I just called the grand gathering planning number and asked if free dining was available - the CM did not have any information but chuckled when I asked about it as if there had been an overabundance of calls! He said he did not know when it was going to be released and that they have to wait for marketing to announce it.

I already have an existing grand gathering ressie at BCV from 8/24-8/29, I asked if I could apply the free dining to my existing ressie and he confirmed that I can! I do have the deluxe dining plan (so we can do all the fun gg experiences), I would assume they would credit for the standard plan and I would just pay the difference.

We used the FDP last year and loved it! Hope we can do it again! ;)

Just wanted to pass along this info to all my mouseketeers!

The CM firs says "he didn not have any information" but could then tell you that you could apply free dining to your existing reservation.

Anyone else find this amazing???? The CM was either (A) speculating or (B) lying! VOTES? (I am going with speculating when they tell you what you will be able to do!)

:happytv:

He did mention that they've done it last 2 years and will most likely do again this year.

I think he definately had the info and was not going to share it with me.

So after realizing that I didn't need my package to book dining I called and got almost eveything I asked for. I ended up with Le Cellier for lunch not dinner, but plan to keep calling to see if I can get it. It's for my DD's Birthday.

Bounceback was an offer given to resort guests who were in WDW last year during the Free Dining. You could book the "bounceback" offer while there last year instead of waiting until the code comes out.

Yep! But it seems not everyone that was there recieved this whether it be because they did not watch the disney tv or becuase they werent given the paper! According to these boards people there recv'd it both ways! :goodvibes

Bounce back is an offer you are given the day before you checkout of your disney resort. For example: Last year my family was in Disney during free dining (dates: August 30 - September 7). In the evening of September 6 we found in our room a bounce back offer to return to disney September 2008 and we would receive free dining. The offer was only valid if we accepted it and booked it by September 7th.

We were there in 07 during the free dining and we had a flyer in our welcome packet for the bounce back offer in 08. It had to be booked before we checked out. I wish I would have booked it then. I should have know we wouldn't stick to our guns and NOT come back again this year. So now I'm waiting for the code to come out! :confused3

Another nice thing about the Visa card is lets say you put down $200 deposit on Monday. You've got 6 months to pay that off. Then another we'll say $300 in May. You've got 6 months from THAT date to pay off, and again in June, July, etc. Its based off the last time you made the charge on the card, not the first date of the selected deposit.

Just an FYI: If you book a flight with your package as 1 booking you must pay your airfare in full. So you will be paying $200.00 deposit plus flight. You deposit will be more than $200.00.

I have a question concerning the bouncebacks. Do you have to book for the SAME hotel that you were staying at?

We'll be fosterparents next year and I can't see us staying at the CSR for our young ones. I think it would be more economical and FUN for the kids if we booked POP's If we use the bounceback, is it possible to book the other hotel next year?

Also I have another question. If we get the 40% coupon (we're awaiting some mail from disney in the next couple of days) I'm wondering if it would be cheaper for us to use the 40 percent coupon. We are planning on keeping DxDDP for our stay...there is just the two of us adults. We were going to add the FDDP to get the discount, but wondering if for the two of us staying Sept. 14-20th at CSR if it would be a better deal for the 40% with us keeping the DxDDP and all. Any input on that?

Thank You ALL so much for your knowledge, input and Fun posts:rotfl: :flower3:

We did the same thing!!! "Oh no we won't go back at the sametime, next time will be a holiday" - yeah right: that did not work out to well. Now we are drolling over free dining.

Anyone else reading this - Free dining is better than a 40% code at a value resort. It is that simple. 7 nights - Free Dining for 3 at adult rates over $800.00 saving, 40% discount for 7 nights on value is less than $400 savings.

You are saving 20% with AAA right now so at POR that is 33.53/day with tax. Dining would cost you $105.95/day so you would save a net of $72.42/day or total of $217.26 for 3 nights BUT you have to buy a 1 day ticket for all 5 of you at a cost of $342.94.

BUT....those tickets do not expire as long as you don't use them so you could use them on a future trip BUT...if you wanted a package with dining next time you would have to buy tickets again.

You would have to check in on the 23rd for your new package. Last year I was at POR when the DDP started (we chose to stick with the AAA package and not do free dining). The lines for checking in that day were HUGE!!!!

Disney came out with a package for paid DDP that was better than AAA discount in June.
