Offical American Idol Discussion Thread

as much as John needed to go, I think Tasia needs to go soon becaus eher Donald Duck voice irritates me!

I agree about Fantasia all over John last night. Just another attempt to draw attention to herself and only herself. She could have said her "emotional and physical" goodbyes later. It's not like he would have left the studio and jumped on a plane that night. She's a stage hog. Look at ME, ME, ME, don't pay attention to anyone else, I'M THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS HERE! :sad2:

She needs to BOBO herself off the stage and make room for the others.

Now! I feel better.::yes::

I believe Diana is half black and half white. Her mother is definitely white and I've seen a black man by her side in the audience each week.
I was under the impression that Diana was part American Indian but I can't remember what tribe.

John is a classy young man. Even George was crying after Ryan said John was leaving. I believe that they all truly like him and was sad to see him leave their group. It's hard to believe that someone would threaten him for lasting this long on AI. People are so strange. I've liked John all along, don't think that he has sung his best though until last night. Then we got a sample of what he will be like.

I chose not to vote this season and have not had a clear favorite yet. Had I been voting, it rarely would have been the same person two weeks in a row.

I saw him today on Good Morning America where he made the "racist" statement. I think that Elton John's remark was totally out of line. He spoke without knowing what he was talking about. But then don't we all from time to time.

I agree, I felt bad for him too. :(

[BAlso, she just grabbed JS in the group hug last night and wouldn't let him go..... Making sure the camera stayed on her as well, maybe.[/B]

If you notice, Fantasia has a tendency to hang on to whoever gets kicked off every week. She is very fake, but she knows how to play her image up, which is probably why so many people think she's so great (I'm not one of them-- If I have to pick someone to win, it would definitely by LaToya-- I think she has a TON of class and a great voice!)

Not that it really matters but I just did a search and I guess it's a big secret. No one knows what heritage her father is as he is completely out of the picture. So I guess we'll never know for sure.

.....but, John is FINALLY out of his misery! I DID, however, feel sorry for him; he seems to be such a nice kid. Hey, maybe a year or two, and who knows? :scratchin We could be :cheer2: cheerin' him on in a future "AI"....

Diana has really improved a lot from the beginning. I'm wondering if she will become the favorite?

It was so sad when John got the boot, I almost wished I hadn't watched it.:(

Anyone else besides me think that Simon has more or less checked out of this session of Idol? He didn't even bother to make a comment on the final three when asked.
Who can blame him? This season has been uninspiring and uninteresting--singing-wise, not controversy-wise.

I do remember one of the female contestants talking about their Indian heritage. And that contestant was from the South. For some reason I thought that it was Diana. But then again, I could be thinking about the wrong person. Oh well.....

Maybe it's me, but I was positive that it was LATOYA that was hugging John S. last night and wouldn't let go?

And, I have to say that I was THRILLED that America finally woke up and voted off John S. As sweet as he may be, he is NOT American Idol material. He has a "pleasant" voice and definitely can croon the older material, but he was not a Clay Aiken, for sure!

Also, as for him "taking the bullets like a man", I tend to think that he's just kind of "wussy" and just isn't one to come back with a comment when criticized. I don't think it has anything to do with his upbringing or tact.

Wow, I must admit I'm a bit surprised to see all the criticism of Fantasia. I didn't care for her at first, but she has grown on me. Her performance of "Summertime" really was spectacular. I don't think she is truly cocky--I think she has a funny/spunky personality. She amuses me. :)

I guess I just personally can't get "into" LaToya. She can sing, that's for sure. I guess she just seems a little bit unfriendly to me. It could just be her shyness, but I think she seems a little cocky. She definitely can sing though.

I just saw John interviewed on Ryan Seacrest's show this afternoon. John has to be the most mature 16yo that I've ever seen. When Ryan asked John about his plans, he said that he was going home to go to his junior prom. Ryan asked if he had a date and John said "That's confidential information". Ryan predicted great things for John. And I have to agree.

It will be interesting to see what becomes of John in the future. For now it will be good for him to get home and back to a regular teenage life for awhile. He still has some commitments to AI, according to a radio interview I heard with morning with his high school principal. But I think the real pressure is off and that can only be a good thing.:D

Well, John Stevens can finally rest. I felt bad for him last night even though I don't think he is American Idol material. He can go home and relax. All the pressure is off of him. I'm sure he feels like a big load has been lifted. I heard he had death threats, that is ridiculous. People are going a bit toooo far!! That's horrible! I'm sure once he graduates High School, matures a bit, we will see John again.

I really think the last 2 standing should be Latoya and Fantasia. Latoya has class. George needs to step it up. He's been slacking the past few weeks. We shall see.

I heard on one of the entertainment shows tonight that it's Big Band next week .....

If that's true, looks like John Stevens got cut one week too early.

Sorry not true. He is a polite young man that was brought up to respect people. Friends and family told him to NOT act like some of the others in past shows and make comments, because they just look stupid. That's why he also never did the "my number is 4 so I'm holding up 4 fingers and grinning". So he took his critiques like a gentleman...that doesn't make him a wuss. I know kids that know him and his family and they all say that he is just the nicest kid and is always polite to everyone. With John...what you see is what you get...and that is more maturity then you see on most 16 year olds. And that has everything to do with his upbringing.

I would have liked to have seen him do big band.
