Offical American Idol Discussion Thread

Missed the show, thanks for the update. Doesn't surprise me about John, although, he is talented, others may not think so.:o

:( :sad1: :sad2:

I'll miss him. Maybe Neil Sedaka will produce a CD for him! I'd buy it!

Now my votes will go to either Jasmine or Diana depending on their performances.

Once one of them goes, my votes will go to the remaining one of them followed next by George; I would only vote for him once Jasmine and Diana are gone.

Once (if) they are all gone, and if I have to choose between La Toya and Fantasia, it will be La Toya even though I don't like either of their voices, I think La Toya is nicer than Fantasia and I'd be so upset if Fantasia won this and her voice is SO annoying!

It'll be interesting to see what happens next week! Now that someone mentioned that Fantasia sounds like Nell Carter, I totally hear it!!

I think that John, while my bottom pick, showed an incredible amount of dignity and class...especially for his age! He will certainly go far in life with those traits!

If someonme produces a cd for him I'll be there to buy it! And I so agree about Fantasia...never would vote for her at all!

I haven't read the entire thread, so I don't know if this has come up...

...But something that they aren't publicizing at all is that John had been getting death threats by mail and online-- they mentioned it on Good Day Live, but then never talked about it aside from that (they confronted Randy when he was driving away, who said he didn't deserve it (who would deserve death threats???)!!)

I'll miss him because he was pretty unique, even if he had trouble with some of the later performances-- honestly, he is a crooner. If he had more opportunity to sing that kind of music, I think he would have done a TON better! Can you picture Frank Sinatra singing Motown and Latin music?? Nope!

I think the last few weeks, if you notice, John has appeared almost scared and wanting to go home-- which could have to do with these death threats!

I honestly can't see how the show can be racist given that Rueben won last year, and 4 of the 5 remaining contestants are minorities (maybe 6-- is Diana hispanic?)

I also don't really like Fantasia either-- I don't think she can sing-- she sounds like Macy Gray...who I don't think can sing!!

I don't think she is Hispanic. Isn't she originally from Hawaii?

Jamine is originally from Hawaii, the other girl from Hawaii was that one that got voted off pretty early on (I don't remember her name)...Diana DiGarmo-- I guess it can be italian, too.

I just wish everyone can be American with a different heritage! Then we wouldn't have to worry about things being "Racist"!!

Sorry-- that sounded bad--

I'm speaking in context of American Citizens (it is American Idol)...American's should be Americans.

That's right it was Camille who was from Hawaii.

I think right now if Jasmine and Diana continue like they did on Tuesday.....then they will get my votes. LaToya is next in line.

I missed the show tonight but thanks for the updates. It's too bad my Johnny is gone. I really do think he is talented. I wish I'd seen his performance tonight, my roommate told me that he was crying as he sang, poor kid. His voice is different than the other contestants, and I like it, I like the oldie-style crooner songs that he sings so well. If he comes out with a cd I would buy it. And of course I think it disgusting and horrendous that he's been given death threats, if anyone doesn't deserve that it's him; he's such a sweet, classy kid, and I'm gonna miss him.

With that said, how were they divided tonight? Who was in the top group and the bottom group and such? Thanks.

Actually, I thought she sounded alot like Chris Tucker, the guy who was in the movie Rush Hour with Jackie Chan.....Andy

Top group were LaToya London, Fantasia Barrino and Diana DiGarmo . Three bottom ones, Jasmine Trias, George Huff and John Stevens.

everyone must go buy the american idol 3 cd....john sounds incredible on it,i was sorry to see him go, but i kew he wasnt going to win.lets hope the race card is put to rest now, it was him and george bottom 2 and john lost.... gotta give the kid props(speaking in randy jackson tone) the kid got class.

What song does he sing on the CD? Is everyone from the final 12 on it? Are the other performances good?

I felt bad for John but it was definitely time for him to go. The kids really seemed to like him, they were all so sad.

Hopefully Fantasia will go next but I doubt it.

Well of course you can imagine I was pretty upset with the results show tonight, but honestly I was kinda of happy too. I'm upset to see John go because he was definitely my favorite, but I'm so happy he made it this far, to the top half. Of course when I think about it, it sucks, because I don't get to hear him sing anymore, and that's the main person I always look forward to. I think it's so wrong that he said he was relieved to go. Obviously he knows how much bashing goes on about him and he feels like he doesn't deserve to be there. That just makes me really upset that people bash AND threaten the poor kid, so obviously he's gonna want to leave. At least he will be happy now, and there won't be as much bashing going on!

I was also surprised to see George in the bottom, I thought everyone loved him, but he has been getting much worse. I can't imagine how crazy everyone would be if he had been the one to leave. There'd be more "the world is racist" comments, and more John Stevens bashing. Actually I'm surprised the world isn't racist because the top 3 weren't black.

Unfortunately now there's only 2 people left that I like! And I don't even like them all that much. In the beginning I didn't like Jasmine, I started liking her, and then she started getting bad again. I also kinda like Latoya, but if she won, we'd probably be in for some more R&B crap. So I obviously won't be voting anymore.

I didn't hear how many votes were cast, but 4 million is a lot for someone who's leaving! I thought there's usually about 20 million votes, so between 6 people that would be an average of about 3-4 million. So it seems like someone with 4 million would have been safe. Obviously there must have been a lot of votes. I called and I didn't get through for John until the second hour, I thought that pretty much meant that he was safe, but I guess not.

Even though my favorite is gone, I will continue watching, just like I did even after my least favorite won last year. I'm not gonna boycott the show just because my favorite is gone, which is what a lot of people say they would do.

It's always sad when one of them gets voted off (I think). I'd probably get choked up if Fantasia went, and she's my least favorite. I was holding my breath and hoping it wouldn't be George.

I think Latoya deserves to win it all. She's put in the best performances week after week. But I like all the ones left except Fantasia.

Ryan said there were over 28 million votes! My kids tried all night for John...we got through a total of 19 times.

I don't remember seeing John crying while he sang, but the ones left behind were...all except LaToya (or maybe she was but they didn't show her at all). He was so much better then on Tuesday. I've been saying all along that he has a great voice, I really think nerves had a lot to do with that. Once he relaxed after being voted off it was better.

I was crying right along with them..it was so sad. My DD age 11 was crying too. He was asked what he will miss most about AI and he just pointed to where they were sitting and said "them"...well that just started it for me...all through his little video clip, I had misty eyes, but the tears were coming down my face while he was singing and they were showing the ones left behind crying.

Wow only 28 million! That's weird that he got voted off because that must have been really close. All the rest had to have had somewhere between 4 and 5 million.

My mom was surprised I took it so well. I didn't scream, I didn't throw anything at the TV, I didn't punch anything or anyone, or anything else harmful. :teeth: Last year, you did not want to be in the same room as me when Clay lost. I was just so out of control and probably scared everyone. I was taking it well because first of all I expected it, and second of all I was kind of happy for him leaving. You could tell he did not want to be there anymore because of all the negativity he has gotten. At least we get to look forward to seeing him on tour, and he'll also have a song on the AI album.
